Good price !
But why does it always make me laugh when they do a 'slim fit' pair of trousers in 40 inch waist ...

I know lots of fat people who have skinny legs. Lack of exercise maybe?

If you have a 40" waist and wear skinny fit, you need to reconsider how you live your life.

The words "for larger feller" and 38/40 should have been a giveaway.
Do you vote cold if someone has a bargain for Italian means 'cos theres no Indian stuff in there ?

Always suspicious about "slim fit" remember getting an XL Wrangler shirt to make absolutely sure, expecting it to be nice and roomy, possibly even baggy. It was like a bloody Medium when it came. Never bought anything with "slim fit" since. Good spot though. Hot voted

I know the feeling - once bought, by mistake, a slim fit shirt (online, wasn't showing as slim fit) in xxl - couldn't get my arm in sleeve, so no idea how tight the rest would have been, might have had to have it cut off !!

Short and stocky, 50 plus in age so need bigger waist as 'expanded' in that area over recent years. Gym regularly, muscular legs and often have problems with the thigh area of trousers, especially slim fit. I also already have several pairs of these chinos and often buy when on offer as M&S quality is good and these are at better than supermarket pricing.
However, I find that 40 waist with 29 inch inside leg, with a good strong belt done up well, allows me to wear these chinos and they are a relatively good fit. Other problem is often saggy backside in the trousers but also get away with that in these due to quality. Last bit is to wash and iron inside out if you can as best to maintain life of troos!!
Ultimately with M&S there is also the option to try for fit and then return to selected store if unsuitable so, at this price and if in your size, then nothing lost really.
Apologies - edited to thank OP as qty 4 pairs ordered, only one out of stock (black) that I tried for but no issues.

I'm 6'3" and have worn 36" since I was 12 as I very wide but incredibly skinny.
Big waist doesn't always mean overweight so this was a good deal for me.
