Linx 8" 32GB Windows 8.1 Tablet at Sainsburys online. Was £100.00 and now reduced to £50.00. Includes pre-installed Office 365 Personal 12 month subscription. I think this is a bargain. Click and collect available.
Use code WNTFTWCTB to get for £40 (new accounts)
You can activate the subscription on another device, or even sell/gift the subscription to someone else by following the instructions below.
1) Run Office for the first time, it should take you to an activation webpage.
2) DO NOT SIGN IN. Copy the web address, you should see 5 sets of 5 capitalised alpha numerals in a string of 5, similar to the one below
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
3) THATS IT! Thats the code you'll need to activate on another device!

The Five Stages of Opportunist Resellers......
Stage 1. Pre Purchase Calculation.
It's only £50 and worth £100, and I can sell the Office Licence separately to make another £25-£30. I'll make £80 clear profit easy.
Stage 2. Expectation.
I have to get it and get it listed on E-Bay as quickly as possible. I know, I'll spend 30 minutes finding out where they have stock and then drive there and collect to be sure. So in total I'll spend maybe 90 minutes getting all my ducks in a row....but I'm sure to make £80 easy.
3. Hope.
OK....Got it and had a quick play...not sure what all the excitement is about. Had a few problems extracting the Office Licence key...took a couple of hours in the end. But got it done. Took some photos so my listing looks good, by the time I'd done a decent non generic listing with my own decent photos took half an hour. Listings up and looks good, can't wait till Sunday evening when I'm bound to sell it for £80.
Stage 4. Reality.
"What the frack!!!, There's bl**dy loads of these listed now and prices seem to be dropping fast". My auction eventually closed at £55 and I only got £20 for the Office Licence as well. Oh well I suppose £75 is better then nothing as I'll still make £35. I'll pack it up and take it to the Post Office tomorrow.
Stage 5. Depression.
Forgot about the E-Bay and Paypal fees, in total that came to a tenner across both of the auctions....and another quid for packing it up and packing material. Took me half an hour waiting in the Post Office to get it posted on top of the half hour packing it up. Looking back I probably spent a couple of quid on petrol collecting it as well. So have to knock £13 off my profit of £35...so made £22 altogether. Hang on though, I spent nearly four and a half hours doing all this...to make £22........that's less then minimum wage!!
Frack!!!!

There's no mention of any type of hdmi out, is that something missing from the description or does this particular unit not have it?

Great deal  Just ordered with 16GB Micro SD will go well with this only class 4 but still a good still. Used £18 code and total was £43 delivered. Thanks OP
ended up cancelling the order, my delivery was due for tomorrow. I called the store who had already allocated last two for delivery today.
Additional info about Sainsbury's online click and collect, I did find a store who had 1 item remaining but even if I used click and collect the order would have arrived at that store from another store. This means I couldn't use the voucher and then click and collect, bit strange how this all works.
Anyway either way I still think this was a good deal as people obviously did get a delivery from multiple stores

Free Win10 upgrade?
FredsVan to pablomalin
10 Jan 16#63
I upgraded the 10" Linx tablet to Windows 10 without much problem. The 32GB mmc drive on its own is not large enough to hold the Windows 10 download so you have to used an external usb drive.
It was the second Windows 8.1 tablet I upgraded to Windows 10 and my main comment is that it took a very long time. Can't remember how long, but it was literally hours so once you start don't touch even if it seems to have stopped for half an hour or so.

10 Jan 161#47
If you already have Office 365 you can extract the license key and either add to an existing subscription or sell
I have one of these and it qualifies for a free Windows 10 upgrade. I have tried running the installer a few times and it's always crashed so it's not a straightforward upgrade, at the moment at least.
It has been done and there's videos online but I haven't had a chance to do it yet.

Don't know where you got that info from, OS performance is probably slightly better/smoother on win10. The only issue I have had with the upgrade has been the significant wifi range decrease and signal drops, which seems to be common. Anyone found a solution to this at all?

For anyone wondering if you can charge this AND power a USB device at the same time...I did this guide for the linx 7 a while back, a few people have now said this device is a rebranded Linx 7 so it should be the same method.
1) Plug 4 port cable into USB on tablet, with the switch set to data and keyboard plugged into one of the data ports.
2) Boot to BIOS - Hold DEL key as soon as you see the LINX logo.
3) Navigate to the Chipset menu using the arrow keys on your keyboard
4) Select the South Bridge option (it goes white when selected)
5) Press Enter
6) Select 'USB Configuration'
7) Press Enter
8 ) Select 'USB OTG Support'
9) Select PCI mode from the popup menu
10) Press Esc twice to get back to the main menu
11) Select "Save Changes and Exit"
12) Let the tablet boot into Windows, it didn't appear to be working once in Windows, so I shut down and restarted Windows and after loading back up I am now charging and able to use a USB device simultaneously!!!!!
I am able to unplug a USB device and re-connect it without issue while in Windows. Bear in mind it will only power one USB device and charge the tablet at the same time.

theoretically yes, but practically no. Android emulator (like bluestacks) needs at least 2Gb ram to run. without 2Gb bluestack won't let you install. I've tried other android emulator available and confirm it won't work as it will freeze and crash your tablet if it has only 1Gb ram

I don't think so, they are Android apps, so they use the .apk extension, maybe you could download a Android emulator like Bluestacks and try it on that on this tablet but I doubt it will be fast, may not work at all to be honest. 10 Jan 16#115
Yes and yes. But it won't power from a standard hub, so you need to either buy a specific one (have a read on the linx forum, there are various options, or hack / buy a usb cable (into a y cable) to power it.
Powering whilst using the usb can be temperamental - I've occasionally had to re-start to get it going, which I find acceptable - it's not supposed to do it at all after all.

This is definitely not a re-branded linx 7. The uefi is quite different for a start.
There's no need to do anything in the bios on the linx 8 to enable charge and usb use - there are threads devoted to it on the linx forum - basically it's a case of buying the right usb hub or hacking a cable.
There are also plenty of threads about bricked linxes because people have messed about in the uefi - it's really not needed on the 8.

If you follow the link in post 47, it will take you to the Lynx forums. To be able to read some of the posts, you need to join the forums, from there you will get the required info on how to extract the key.(you may have to read a few posts)
As for Upgrading to Win 10, My Linx 7, did it with a couple of key presses after I download it. If you don't like it, it gives you the option to revert back to 8.1 within 14days(i think it is)...If you decide to stick with 10, you can then remove the backup of 8.1....I extracted my Office 365 key before upgrading to 10.

Think others have more or less answered your question but yes you can upgrade to Windows 10 - done it via Windows Update with a few Linx variants now.
From reviews, many are disappointed with the new Cherry Trails (they still appear to run rather hot) - I did a deal for a Chuwi Hi10 in the wee small hours but Dealsmachine aren't allowed on HUKD currently. Gearbest are about the same price anyway http://www.gearbest.com/tablet-pcs/pp_244802.html £119.65
Chuwi have just released a Hi12 (same display specs as the Surface Pro 3) and Vi10 Ultimate, another 64GB Cherry Trail with 10.6" screen.
If I'm going to upgrade my Linx 10 I may hold out for a decent Core M tablet.
What are people buying these for? Honest question....

I got my Linx 10 in the 2014 pre-Xmas Staples rush and had no idea if it would be any use to me - it was a suck it and see purchase. Use it much more than I thought I would!
The Nook HD+ I had became really slow over time so I handed it down to my niece, but I can honestly say if I still had an Android tablet I'd find myself using the Linx much more. I am very familiar with Android on tablets and phones. But Windows on a tablet is light years better than Android, for me. It's more user-friendly on a bigger screen (I have a Linx 10) but that's just my opinion.
The only issue I had with it was reading my GBs of books, but I'm familiar with Calibre now and a convert to Windows tablets. The webcam and camera are pants, but you knew that already.
I wish there was a Swype keyboard (I'm one of those weird people who prefer them) and Windows' App Store is absolutely terrible. So if you're buying it with apps in mind, it's not for you.
More TLC is needed with Windows too, obviously, versus app-based tablets. My sister has a Linx 7 clone and has to use a stylus with hers as icons are a tad too small.
You can enable automatic keyboard pop-up on the Linx tablets, just like Android (soza added this originally) http://i.imgur.com/emc2Hrn.jpg

Yes, it has a microphone and headphone socket, you need an OTG cable (for some reason only the Linx 7 and 10 have one in the box) to use USB.

Not bad - even cheaper than the half price sale a year ago at Staples.
As an entry into Windows tablets, this is a great option. But keep in mind that 8" is quite small - too small for running Windows Programs. And the Windows App store is still very empty, especially for tablets (unlike on Android, phone apps are not supported!). And in terms of browsers, you are pretty much stuck with IE or Edge - Chrome does not run well on only 1 GB of RAM.
So it is not a great tablet, but the best you can get for the money.

This doesn't work on Linx 8.
To get into the UEFI on the Linx 8 you need to hold UP VOLUME and POWER, then let go of the POWER while still holding the UP VOLUME.
There is a menu under the Advanced that shows USB configuration, that has OTG Support with a PCI option in it. But if this is selected, the cable does still not charge and have OTG access at the same time. If the switch is on one way it lets you have power only, if the switch is the other way it lets you have USB only.
Unless my cable is different from yours (looks identical).

I'll be interested to see how many people actually get their tablets via click-and-collect tomorrow. As mentioned, I was let down today with a phone call telling me there was no stock despite being able to place the order. You might try using Razor Cortex: Game Booster. Add Bluestacks as a game and run it through there. It disables a lot of unneeded processes/services and frees up RAM before running the application.
Razor Cortex: Game Booster. can be used on any low resource unit to try and help get a little better performance from games/apps.

To all those asking questions, it can be upgraded to windows 10 although takes some time, also after upgrading make sure you run disk cleanup and remove the previous windows version this will free up 8gb. You can run any program you can run on any pc (memory and disk allowing) Hdmi works fine and can be set up as an additional screen or screen mirroring. Bluetooth keyboard and mice work fine. You can also stream the display via miracast or stream media files via dnla. One year Office 365 one year subscription and one drive 1tb is included and can be activated anytime before June 16th. Xbox one streaming and NVidia streaming works fine on these tablets (WiFi allowing).

I ordered this yesterday morning click and collect along with a frying pan in the sale using £18 off £60 code for pick up today at 11am. After placing the order I rang my local store to check stock, they had one left which they put back for me. They couldn't see my order as wouldn't show on their system until today. They said if tablet was out of stock they would just have given me frying pan with no discount as total not now over £60. I would strongly recommend you ring your store to check it's in stock otherwise you'll only get delivered the other items you bought that you probably didn't really want. Il try and give some good advice but will probably get shot down! If you have ordered for home delivery tomorrow for example ring really early in the morning as they start picking. This will be about 5am in most stores and will probably be the largest store nearest to you. Ask to speak to the online department and explain what has gone onto your grocery order. Just explain you understand this is not a normal line they pick but would they send somebody to have a good look ie in the electrical lock up etc. Hope this helps

Ok, I'm gonna cancel mine. Not worth the gamble. And I feel awkward if the delivery comes and I have to stand out in my porch checking whether the tablet came, and then telling the driver to take it back. How will I even know if it's the Linx by looking at the package? It could be some other substitute.

Suprise suprise, No. Phoned customer services and the lady was very helpful. She rang the store and was told the order had been cancelled because they were out of stock. She was told that myself and customer services should have been contacted by the store to tell us both of the cancellation but neither of us were. She apologised and said i would be refunded, however they would try and source me two from another store because of the inconvenience (doubtful they will find one) and be in touch if they do.
Sorry but not looking good for everyone else unless a handful are still lying around in Sainsburys stockrooms

I feel awkward, because the driver will be standing out there in the cold while I'm doing some awkward quick unpacking to check the package all while standing up, and then telling him to take it back. It would be a waste of fuel and anti-green. The gamble is that they send a substitute instead and I don't realise until it's too late.

To be honest the screen on this is going to be awful, at that resolution. Same res as the 7" but even less sharp as less dense. You're better off buying a used Nexus 7 2013.
haritori to misa426
10 Jan 161#311
I own one, the screen is extremely sharp and clear, better quality than the 7" model, very good quality for a budget tablet, and it runs windows 10 very very well, even Chrome browser runs fine. the Nexus 7 2013 I also own, the screen is not much better and now runs like crap because android needs so much ram to run anything decent..
your recommendation is based on nothing and is bad advice to others.
couple of points
This tab can stream xbox perfectly fine, so long as you have your xbox connected by ethernet or a decent 5GHZ signal.
I have run games like Broken Age perfectly fine its great tab to run steam games point and click, finding games etc..
It runs office great, outlook has a brilliant touch options..
if you install mightytext on your android you can link it to chrome and use your tab for making and receiving texts and phone calls without any issues.
it basically is a decent atom pc tablet and runs everything I throw at it, without being sillI

I wish all gambles were like this, ie a 1-way bet.
Either you get it, you win.
Or if you don't get it, you can send back the filler items if the price looks high or you don't fancy the delivery charge, again, you have not lost. I certainly couldn't give a monkey's about the driver waiting, the lorry burning fuel etc - that's his job and if Sainsbury's can't fulfil their orders, that's their poor management systems, their problem not mine.
Maybe a few of us might get a better (substitute) tablet for the same price.

I think the theory is that the stores have the item in stock if you are allowed to order - but the pickers are either acned teenagers with no nous or Albanians who couldn't give a flying about checking for a tablet in the electrical lock-up store.
Ie their stock control systems are robust enough but the human element (picking) is rubbish.

By definition the pixel density (sharpness) is less than the 7" one, as they're the same resolution. You say you own the Nexus, if you really can't see the MASSIVE improvement in sharpness from 1280*800 to 1920*1200 you may want to clean your eyes! My recommendation is based on common sense, mathematics, experience in having used tablets at that res, and seeing for myself how grainy they look.

I own one they are not grainy, and my eyes are fine, ever wondered about the rave reviews for the z3 compact with its 720p screen? Resolution does not mean quality..
By your definition the 50" 4K lidl TV's have a better screen than a Samsung 6 series 48"...
My laptop is a Dell L502x with one of the best 1080p screens put on a laptop, it is far crisper, brighter and has a better colour gamut than most new 4K screens on laptops.

10 Jan 161#322
I'm sure most would reviewers, and most people would agree with me that the screen on the Nexus 7 2013 is FAR nicer than the Linx 8. I was blown away by it at the time. The colour gamut etc is fantastic, superior to the iPad mini 2 which I've also owned. VERY bright too.

10 Jan 16#339

The linx 7 and linx 8 are quite different tablets. The 8 has a better screen. It also doesn't have the sound problems that seem to dog the 7.
The 8 - subjectively - has a pretty good screen. Sharp, clear, but obviously limited by its resolution.
If people who own it post here saying it's actually grainy / rubbish then that's meaningful.

Similar in that they're both bay-trail tablets, yes.
This has been discussed on the linx forum - go and look if you're interested.
If a linx7 is really a sawed down 8 you'd expect the UEFIs to be similar - in fact they're completely different. The linxes appear to be rebadged chinese tablets - the 10, for instance, looks identical to a schenker element (presumably another rebadge).
In any case after reading EasyDuz's comments on the last linx thread I don't believe he's ever used a linx that doesn't come in an aerosol.

Scrap that, opened the box up and it was empty, nothing in there, zilch, zero, nowt. Took it back and they refunded me, obviously but checked with another store to see if they had stock. 3 in stock  excellent, 20 mins drive but i decided it was worth the effort. As ever, if you are pleasant/ charming on complaint calls to CS, they have a budget to remedy occasions when Sainsbury's have given disappointing service.
Whilst I'm not a moaner, I do tend to pick up the phone more in this kind of situation, as you invariably get compensated for the aggro you have suffered, which is only fair.
Let's see if I need to do exactly that tomorrow, I got the same email as others, ie still time to modify my order - definitely not cancelled as of now.

Linx 8 or Acer W8 for £99 ?

They're very similar specs, the Acer isn't > 2x better (if better at all).

11 Jan 16#452
Neither! They're both too small to have a satisfactory tablet experience!
No stock at my local so it wont be coming tomorrow. I phoned and slated them for putting this item in the grocery section as it will never show out of stock. Groceries are picked on the day and normally in stock or replaced with an alternative hence why people are getting the £99 model. Very bad practice.
trogggy
11 Jan 16#455
I'd still say easily the linx at this price.
2GB RAM is an obvious difference - but whilst it would be nice to have more on the linx it's never been an issue for me.
The acer looks nicer. Don't know what the support's like (it may be great) - I've found the linx forum pretty useful.
Edit: And the acer has 64GB emmc, as opposed to 32GB on the linx. Again that's better, but you can use a 128GB micro sd in the linx (probably both) - so it's not a dealbreaker. At the same price-point the Acer is a no-brainer. But this is potentially £32 (using the £60 code) vs £99.

Total nightmare to get hold of, when I called my local store to put it on hold for me, I specifically told them its the 8" model that is now down to £50 from £100, they said "yup thats fine just come down, we've put the last one on hold for you", I go there to find he has put the 10" one which was £150 on hold..I thought it was some kind of joke at first but turns out he was being serious, I told him to look for the other one so he looked and could only find the 810, lastly he checked in the cabinet behind him and said nope we don't have any in stock, at this point I was fuming but caught a glimpse of the Linx logo before he closed the door, got him to pull it out and to my relief it was the Linx 8. Bare in mind I only bought this device to watch movies on and have been using it since yesterday for that very reason, I must say I am impressed, sound quality is not amazing but at this price you can't really complain

Ok. I phoned Customer services and told them they had charged me more, but ye delivery driver said it was the same. They fully understood. Offered to refund and for me to return it. I stated that the lack of memory on the item was the issue so if it was the same price as the 8 I'd keep it. They agreed to refund the extra £29 and gave me £10 goodwill onto my account. A 64gb card is £26 at the moment so he said another £10 off that and you will be able to boost the storage right up. Lol. Win win for me. Ended up paying the same as for the 8 but with £10 credit to up the storage. Kinda in shock tbh.

This is a great deal if they have stock near you but something smells strange on this thread.
I notice two trolls, both have the same writing style. The same posting style. The same punctuation (or incorrect use of). The same views. But they never post at the same time. They both complain about Windows tablets, one of them has been smacked down on every WinTab thread they have posted on for giving incorrect advice.
One has 20000 post views in a few years the other has 150 post views in a few years. Does this sound like someone's alternative account to try and backup their troll posts?
Top marks if you can guess who these posters are... It would be interesting for a moderator to check IP addresses and history of these two posters and see if their is any collaboration in the data.
On a side note, anyone who thinks a 1GB RAM Linx 8 WinTab is slow or has a poor screen due to the resolution has zero clue, and if you disagree, put your money where your mouth is and post a faster, better screened device that includes a years Office 365 use for the same kind of monies and I'll vote it hot.

Actually Ebay took that off after a few months but sellers are very disadvantaged. You need to build it into your prices. Plus if you have a policy of blocking cheats & lots of positive transactions, Ebay wipe unwarranted bad feedback.

and if you can imagine how many people did order this and those who did not get one - if each delievry failure / disappointed customer gets £20 voucher that will cost Sainsbury's some lost profit ......

The above is not worth the hassle and quite frankly is a complete joke.

Ah, one of these sorts of posts. When literally the only correspondence from an online retailer is order confirmation and then zero effort to contact the buyer is made when the delivery is apparently cancelled - along with a total failure to acknowledge people's time has been wasted, that is simply shoddy and unacceptable service in what is an extremely competitive marketplace. On eBay the same behaviour would result in bad feedback. FYI I have used Sainsburys for online purchases before, but I shan't be doing so again. Consumer prerogative and all that.

Powered off it seems to charge ok, during operation I have gotten it to increase battery percentage of around 1 or 2% in an hour of operation at most, and for the most part it just maintains the battery percentage.
This is both under Windows 10 and rolling back to Windows 8.1
For example I have just updated again to Windows 10 and it has been sat at 63% now for about 20 minutes with the word 'calculating' if you click the power icon, and then literally 20 minutes later decides now to tell me its going to take 4 hours 59 minutes until fully charged.
Is this normal? Anyone? Appreciate any response if I have a lemon or not.

Whatever the problem was earlier has seemed to fix itself at least for now....That was the first thing I tried btw. Now at least it is quicker at notifying me the remaining time left to charge and I can clearly see how much quicker my Anker intelligent 4 port USB charging hub and Blitzwolf USB cable can charge the unit in comparison. Before when I had the problem no matter what I tried the unit just did not want to seem to charge in operation.

Frack!!!!

I don't even bother with eBay any more. To much protection for fraudsters. "It wasn't as described.", "It was broken.", "It never arrived.", "It doesn't work as intended." and they get a full refund, even if they send a different item than you sent, back to you. Hell, even seemed to get bad feedback if you sent the item same day (with proof) and Royal Mail took a week to deliver it.
Reminds me of the time I sold a laptop once, it was in perfect as-new condition. The buyer said it was scratched, damaged, keys missing and wouldn't boot up. I knew they were trying it on, maybe sending me back their old one. When communicating with them I advised the one I had sent out was security marked with an invisible pen and photographs had been taken showing these markings prior to dispatch, and if the one I received back did not have these I would be providing the evidence to the police for investigation. Funny thing is, I got a message back five minutes later saying Sorry, they made a mistake and they looked at the wrong laptop and it actually was in perfect condition. Likely story!!
I now just bang things on Gumtree and sell them face to face. That way the buyer can test it, make sure it works and make sure their happy with it, and you get cash in hand that can't be charged back. You find very few eBay fraudsters will deal face to face.

Thanks a lots sainsburys. Wont bother you again.

Was getting twitchy about all the stories about OOS etc, I phoned the Sainsburys where mine will be delivered from, he said it is in stock but they can't reserve it for online orders, only for collection. I said "I don't want to miss out if someone buys one tonight when I've already ordered it.." then he said "Ah it's OK there's another 40 coming tonight so you should be OK".
So time will tell. :stuck_out_tongue:

The same way as you would if you had a laptop.
By using a USB memory stick or SD card or use network file sharing.

I guess you're right, but it always astounds me that people don't factor in eBay fees etc when selling stuff, and then complain about it afterwards.
And you'd have to either not be able to read or have no computing skill whatsoever to have trouble extracting the Office code  If you can copy and paste, then job done.
Incidentally, my order is booked for delivery right now (3-4pm), but I haven't heard a thing from Sainsbury's since the order confirmation. I'm not expecting it to arrive, but giving some sort of notice of that fact is normal I would've thought.

So the delivery didn't arrive. I can't believe a company as large as Sainsbury's is incapable of sending out a simple "not in stock" email, after I arranged a delivery slot and waited in at the agreed time. Shocking customer service

Frack!!!!

EDIT: no, they don't, just did a postcode search.
The one code that does stack with the new account code is for some Parampara Spice mix - FREEPARAMK
http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/shop/gb/groceries/get-ideas/features/features/free-parampara-spice-blend
Plus, that reads like it's £50 and in-store only. In-store only deal are notorious wild goose chases whereas this might actually come off.
:man:
Just ordered one anyway, made a new revolut account, topped up £10 with code MSE receiving £5 free then topped up the remainder, total with delivery of £1 was £61.44 with this tablet and some other things and the spice mix mentioned here, used the £18 voucher, so got the lot for £38.44, can't complain at that I suppose
There's no mention of any type of hdmi out, is that something missing from the description or does this particular unit not have it?
(Yes, we drink a lot of tea!)
Great price btw, gave you Heat!
ended up cancelling the order, my delivery was due for tomorrow.
I converted my personal 365 to a 5 user.....I guess if I got one of these I woukdnt be able to stack it now I am no longer single user...anyone know?
It was the second Windows 8.1 tablet I upgraded to Windows 10 and my main comment is that it took a very long time. Can't remember how long, but it was literally hours so once you start don't touch even if it seems to have stopped for half an hour or so.
How to Extract Office 365 license key from a new Linx Tablet :sunglasses:
It has been done and there's videos online but I haven't had a chance to do it yet.
It relies on your local store having stock - which is not very likely given the offer has been running a while.
To those who are thinking about upgrading this to Windows 10 - don't. Apparently the 1GB of ram struggles with it and you'll only slow your device down.

i followed this link and installed 10 on a dell, this may work.
i did a later reinstall too.
I've found this as well. With updates and nothing else installed from stock it was 11GB free.

I have this cable:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271641277647?clk_rvr_id=826365108815&rmvSB=true
And I did this:

Powering whilst using the usb can be temperamental - I've occasionally had to re-start to get it going, which I find acceptable - it's not supposed to do it at all after all.
Seems straightforward...

..mind you, only 2015 is on there!

No idea about Sky Go as I only have council telly ! Mind you myk83 says "I use my tablet a lot for watching Sky Go videos through the HDMI output" (post #6) http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=349#p4102
Also http://www.linxtablet.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=1180 Seems Silverlight makes it struggle somewhat?

Although I recently bought myself a Acer W4 for just £99 (2gb of Ram and 64gb of memory).....I still feel the need for this x (8 days too late to take mine back)
Loose !!!!
So this unit comes without the original box?
Still worth it ?
my Aus Memopad HD7 from Tesco 2 year ago was starting to get very slow and recently died .. (may need to open up and disconnect/reconnect battery i believe) but for £42 couldnt really say no (along with a spare 32GB SD card that'll come in handy for the modded Wii)
as long as i can stack the Office code i'll be happy, as i got a year of Office 365 when i bought my Lumia phone... though i never really need/use the Office apps.. the skpe 60 mins/month could be usefull once i have a tablet.
Reviews for this device are excellent.
It is to replace my Hudl 2 which I gave to a relative, just before they discontinued the model....any idea how these compare?
To get into the UEFI on the Linx 8 you need to hold UP VOLUME and POWER, then let go of the POWER while still holding the UP VOLUME.
There is a menu under the Advanced that shows USB configuration, that has OTG Support with a PCI option in it. But if this is selected, the cable does still not charge and have OTG access at the same time. If the switch is on one way it lets you have power only, if the switch is the other way it lets you have USB only.
Unless my cable is different from yours (looks identical).
Regards
Flea

your recommendation is based on nothing and is bad advice to others.
couple of points
This tab can stream xbox perfectly fine, so long as you have your xbox connected by ethernet or a decent 5GHZ signal.
I have run games like Broken Age perfectly fine its great tab to run steam games point and click, finding games etc..
It runs office great, outlook has a brilliant touch options..
if you install mightytext on your android you can link it to chrome and use your tab for making and receiving texts and phone calls without any issues.
it basically is a decent atom pc tablet and runs everything I throw at it, without being sillI
Ie their stock control systems are robust enough but the human element (picking) is rubbish.
By your definition the 50" 4K lidl TV's have a better screen than a Samsung 6 series 48"...
My laptop is a Dell L502x with one of the best 1080p screens put on a laptop, it is far crisper, brighter and has a better colour gamut than most new 4K screens on laptops.
£61 - £18 = £43 but you got £10 of groceries = £33
then you sell the code £30

The 8 - subjectively - has a pretty good screen. Sharp, clear, but obviously limited by its resolution.
If people who own it post here saying it's actually grainy / rubbish then that's meaningful.
But NOT with the additional doozie of any Discount Codes in play?, ohhh yeh!, lol. :-)

The name is very similar - I can see why you'd be confused.
In any case after reading EasyDuz's comments on the last linx thread I don't believe he's ever used a linx that doesn't come in an aerosol.
as of now the sainsbury's website is still showing stock at my local store and I have not had any communication as of yet about my instore collection this afternoon ....

Wow, every day's a school day.
Windows is better if you want Windows.
I have both.
They're different animals.
It's like saying skateboards are better than bananas.
They're very similar specs, the Acer isn't > 2x better (if better at all).
http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/model/NT.L31EK.003
2GB RAM is an obvious difference - but whilst it would be nice to have more on the linx it's never been an issue for me.
The acer looks nicer. Don't know what the support's like (it may be great) - I've found the linx forum pretty useful.
Edit: And the acer has 64GB emmc, as opposed to 32GB on the linx. Again that's better, but you can use a 128GB micro sd in the linx (probably both) - so it's not a dealbreaker. At the same price-point the Acer is a no-brainer. But this is potentially £32 (using the £60 code) vs £99.
My wife would end up signing regardless of the contents so not worth the hassle.
Unlikely there will be any by this time tomorrow.
Rural location so I'm hopeful, ie the OAPs round here don't go on HUKD
So £60 Linx vs £99 Acer
I'd still get the linx, because I'm happy with mine.
The acer undeniably has better specs and looks shiny. Which is good.
The linx 810 has just been released, and it has the same hardware.
What are the specs for the new one?
Will it cost £40?
out of stock , said it should no longer be on website
The batteries I added were out of stock too
They asked where I heard about the deal ?
If linx release an 8" 1080p tablet for £30 next month you'll receive a fulsome apology - written on the moon.

No more stock expected
a) Order cancelled
b) Substitute with additional charge added
c) Substitute without additional charge added
d) Order fulfilled
I'll go 50/50 and hope it's either c or d please Chris Tarrant.

Seems to run and look fine - but for prices they seem very good.
If you want top of range then expect to pay ALOT more xx
Actually Ebay took that off after a few months but sellers are very disadvantaged. You need to build it into your prices. Plus if you have a policy of blocking cheats & lots of positive transactions, Ebay wipe unwarranted bad feedback.
The girl who irritated me the most wrote 'everything OK' then gave me neutral, daft cow.
The online grocery stock management and customer handling is pants ...
but the instore CS was superb - at least at Sainsbury's Selly Oak / Birmingham
and if you can imagine how many people did order this and those who did not get one - if each delievry failure / disappointed customer gets £20 voucher that will cost Sainsbury's some lost profit ......
so maybe it will prompt them to review processes ..... or maybe in teh grand scale of things it's still a drop in the ocean!
You win soem - you loose some - that is business these days

The above is not worth the hassle and quite frankly is a complete joke.
I am a firm believer of if you don't complain and or boycott then nothing will change if everyone had the same attitude companies wouldn't mess you around like this because they wouldn't be able to afford to.
Will see how I get on, I have the RMA now on hold. Thanks for your reply.
Aero and thus customisation of my user experience
Ability to selectively install service packs so they don't break other functionality
Ability to KNOW what service packs are going to be installed
I could go on....."long time for $10" if you like!!

"You are not getting your tablet, it's out of stock". No apology and a total lack of manners!
Frack!!!!

Big Difference.
And just because you can extract the key in seconds does not for a moment mean others don't have a problem.....this thread is littered with them.
I didn't buy one.......I'm an Androidie guy......Tab Ss in both flavours and a couple of older P6800s.
I didn't even vote hot or cold.
How can you possibly prove they didn't use it?
They'd steal it, use it, claim their money back via Ebay, the code would show as already used
Reminds me of the time I sold a laptop once, it was in perfect as-new condition.
You find very few eBay fraudsters will deal face to face.

e all your content on 16GB internal storage,
is it 16GB or 32?
The only 16GB linx is the 10 lite (Sainsbury's only) AFAIK.
Thanks a lots sainsburys. Wont bother you again.
I now have to go without because its OOS.
So time will tell. :stuck_out_tongue:
By using a USB memory stick or SD card or use network file sharing.
These windows tablets may look like android tablets but they work the same as any windows computer.
Am I right in thinking that to connect to my TV, I simply need a mini-HDMI to HDMI cable? (I want it wired)
EliTom
I'm going to look for a cheap Android tablet now, mainly for Clash of Clans and the like. Any recommendations please?
...and then they have the brass to put the order under "Previous orders" in my account, even though it was never delivered  Absolutely comical.
