Contracts can be capped too and you can set the buffer to as low as £1 by giving CS a call.

Bought for my Dad last month - not a heavy data user.
3G but rumour of 4G next month/year and possibly an app.
No problems except making sure the DDebit is setup correctly, signal is very good and customer service is great.

I don't have much experience with contracts, but I've had this one a few months and it's been fairly decent (given the price).
I phoned customer service to get the cap to £1 and to port my number. staff were friendly and got everything sorted without issue.
As for the phone service. it's been decent, not had much cause to complain. The Internet is often at H+ round my local area, but obviously depends where you live. few minor niggles that aren't worth mentioning, but all in all, I'd give this 8.5/10.

Ordered sim late at night 05/01/2016, sim arrived AM in the post on the 07/01/2016, e-mailed them my PAC code & they e-mailed me back to say thanks & the porting of my number would be after 12 noon on Friday 08/01/2016. All done & dusted by 13:05 PM on Friday 08/01/2016. I for one am a very impressed person to say least so far with the service from this company, long may it continue, fingers crossed! Ah my bad, I simply copied and pasted the APN settings from the Geek Squad (CPW) website. Presumably these are the settings that were used prior to LIFE Mobile's previous owner, Phones4U, going under. As they are now owned and run by EE it's understandable that they now use the same APN settings as the 'real' EE.

Yes that's right. Use up as much as you can on your GiffGaff allowance, then give LIFE your PAC. Remember to allow 48 hours for the port to go through. As we're now out of the holiday period it should go through smoothly. Ensure you allow yourself a small allowance left on your GG SIM so that it can tide you over until the port goes through.

We had a bit of an issue over getting number ported for stepdaughter from 3 PAYG but I was very happy with the Customer Service team who genuinely appeared to want to help (and to be fair to them the porting issue isn't something they can resolve themselves but they did keep pushing with the Ops team). I found calls were answered promptly (unlike most other providers!) and they did call back if they said they were going to. For £6 a month (and the ability to cap excess) I think it's a pretty good service. If they get 4g and price stays same or similar then I will seriously consider switching my own phone from my £5.50 a month Voda sim when the 12 months are up (so as to avoid need to do cash back, although to be honest that is hardly a hassle, and for the 30 day contract)

For heaven's sake guys, give them a chance. It's still the festive period, after all, and the SIM's only going to cost 6 quid a month.

Well after getting my sim through and it activating today I'm a convert. 3G speeds are actually better than GiffGaff's 4G speeds (GG D: 1.8, U:12.71, Life: D: 9.43, U: 2.12), clearly the uplink on GG is fine, it's not a signal issue, so 5x the download speed for half the price and better battery life as 4G can be switched off. I'm still checking real life coverage, but for £6 it's hard to fault.

Small print always makes me nervous. I'm on GiffGaff PAYG and a tenner does me fine. Would love to get more for less but the hassle of being tied in with my long time number if it doesn't work out makes me nervous - especially when the little things that matter like the calls that DO cost you an arm and leg on mobiles (0800, 0845, 0300 and 0870) have to be taken into account. SayNoto0870 has been a life saver finding 0800 and local numbers for me, but companies are getting more and more clever and devious leaving these dead numbers around or telling their staff to tell you to ring the national rate numbers.
I avoid insuring my car with any company that can't provide me with a number I can call from my Giffgaff included minutes. Swiftcover have both.

Ah, hadn't realised. It's only a 30 day contract and I received £5.05 cashback through TCB, so will try it for a month and decide if I stay or go else where.
If you have wifi capable phone then it will support wifi calling which negates then use of any home signal box.
Only a handful of EE phones support it currently and all iPhones, 5s onwards support it.

The issue with porting a number in via a PAC is definitely a Life Mobile issue and seems to be worse for those who were on an EE based virtual network before e.g Post Office. Life Mobile have ruined MY LIFE for over 3 weeks now with my 10 year old number stuck their end for over 2 weeks now meaning whenever anyone calls they simply get "Sorry you have dialled an incorrect number". My friend just got this sim only deal 24/12/2015 from talkmobile
Large 12 month SIM Only
£10.00 a month
3000 minutes
5000 text
4GB Data
12 months .
They say on web site they dont increase prices for the 12 month term of contract.
When he rang them they said its 4G data. They use vodafone network i believe.
Just a cautionary note. My daughter received her sim and got her PAC code from TPO. Gave the PAC code to LIFE over three weeks ago but, they have yet to transfer her number across. Any longer and may report this to OFCOM.

Got this for my daughter just before Xmas and had the same problem using my mastercard credit card. I ended up phoning them and they set it all up over the phone, the guy told me that they've had problems with some people using the the uswitch link.

Better 3G is better than a mediocre 4G service
This is a good deal

Customer services told me they could be 4G next year when I moaned about how to find out the useage.
Personally I would not buy this sim for the data, it is awesome for calls and text.

Simple tongue in cheek reference to the benefit of using a 30day mobile sim.. you are not
locked in, tied in, up the swanee with a 24mth phone contract, that is stuck at the same
rip off price every month..
If the 30 day price changes, you can simply go elsewhere for free ;-)

ID mobile double data deal is better if you use more data than calls.

I also would like to know it. I've been with Life Mobile for a month and I don't know anything about it

Bought for my Dad last month - not a heavy data user.
3G but rumour of 4G next month/year and possibly an app.
No problems except making sure the DDebit is setup correctly, signal is very good and customer service is great.

I'm currently with giffgaff but like nearly everyone else I know on giffgaff I'm getting seriously frustrated with the unusable data. 2 days ago I did a speed test on giffgaff 4g and pulled 675kbps.
I am not looking for ultra fast data but something that doesn't enables me to download a 6mb app in more than 8 minutes.
Think I'll give this a go

Any idea if 4G will be free or will incur an additional monthly charge? I see its scheduled to be added next year.

For the money this is hard to fault. OK 4G would be nice, but realistically it's not a massive loss as you won't be streaming much with 1gb of data and most other things won't change massively.

Been offered twice in last 4-5 weeks via uswitch. Posted both times on HUKD
Can't fault them. When compared to the bigger networks the UK based customer services is streets ahead & that's a main selling point for me

Offers been going for a month, here's the previous thread, the comments may be useful for people:
Contracts can be capped too and you can set the buffer to as low as £1 by giving CS a call.
Hope that helps

I phoned customer service to get the cap to £1 and to port my number. staff were friendly and got everything sorted without issue.
As for the phone service. it's been decent, not had much cause to complain. The Internet is often at H+ round my local area, but obviously depends where you live. few minor niggles that aren't worth mentioning, but all in all, I'd give this 8.5/10.
Fingers crossed.
Can somebody confirm please..
gg prices has been static when the others are getting cheaper.

Considering EE do actually own Life Mobile.....
Today in an email from them I've now been told its 5 working days from the day the sim was bought, so that's 3 different things I've been told now (including what the letter says).
I got this message last week. Due to the time of the day I rang (pm) I thought it meant 11.20 pm. I reckon that there is no meeting. It's a message they put on when nobody is going to answer the phone.
Even if you do get ripped off out of a few days of the contract it's hardly going to bankrupt you. It's six quid a month! If it were a higher value contract I'd agree with your frustration!
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.php?p=69819873
So, I just rang them, there is a message saying good morning and that they are in a meeting and to call back at 11:20 (presumably am) but its now just after 6:30PM, not impressed.
"All voice calls are subject to a minimum charge of one minute and then rounded to the nearest minute"
Which doesn't really help.
https://lifemobile.co.uk/PDF/Directory_Enquiries-NGN-Premium_Charges_v2.0_29062015.pdf
they (Life) told me date would be 30th December and sure enough number moved over today (30th)
cant fault it at all

"We'll be taking the payment of £6.00 on 01-01-2016, so if you think you have used your phone a lot this month go take a look now myaccount.lifemobile.co.uk."
Also aren't free phone numbers free to call or do you get charged?
Finally how good is the signal and customer service?
Thing putting me off is potential hidden charges and porting issues.
voicemail, im not too sure if its included in your mins
my number due to port over tomorrow, il report back.
Looks like 0800 isn't free then.. Next.
Didn't know about voicemail not being free, guess I incurred my first charge.
Non-Geographic numbers starting 0800, 0808 Free

I avoid insuring my car with any company that can't provide me with a number I can call from my Giffgaff included minutes. Swiftcover have both.
If you have wifi capable phone then it will support wifi calling which negates then use of any home signal box.
Only a handful of EE phones support it currently and all iPhones, 5s onwards support it.
From what Im reading EE is the provider to be on over next Couple of years, they are rolling out VoLTE too
Mine took 48 hrs. 3 weeks is not on really
Anyone know if this is likely to work with the Life Mobile SIM card as well?
