Ask the provider you're leaving for your PAC number. Once your Life SIM is live, give them a call and give them your phone PAC number and the phone number you want to keep. It will take a couple of days to complete the transfer. I transferred from Virgin Mobile (another EE piggyback) with no problems.
I'm really happy with the customer service. You are quickly put through to a UK-based call centre.
Reporting back...all went perfect and number switching happened in 24 hrs. You have to get them to turn off voice if you want that off as there is no option to do it from our end.
Only issue now is the billing... Paid upfront 12 March, contract started 16 March. Now they saying my next bill will be 31 march. Not sure how that works out as I would have thought Ive paid up until 16 April.

LIFE Mobile = Absolutely misunderstanding! Ordered sim 21.01, pac code provided 23 or 24.01. Now, idiots blocked number which I wanted to port from PO - still no done after three weeks.... Another "problem", they do not know how to activate nano sim card  Called them today, they do not know how to help me. No one take responsibility.Only one advice - WAIT, but they do not know how long....what a circus.

My experience hasn't been full of joy so far. Ported in a number on 11th January, and it's still not working properly (one symptom is that incoming texts rarely come through). Phoned them yet again today, and while I can't fault the courteous and professional attitude of the CS staff, if their engineers can't (or don't) fix it by Monday I'm off. :disappointed:

If you are already with someone whom uses EE network ( I am/was with The Peoples Operator) it takes 5 days to port your number. Something to do with similar port codes that slows things down a bit. Shouldn't be an issue as you pay till the end of the month anyways.

Thanks a lot OP - I just called Virgin to tell them about this deal and they made a price match to:
1250 minutes, unl.texts and 500MB data for £6 what is not a huge saving but better what I had before : 250 minutes, unl.texts and 250MB - the deal for a £5 on their website.
So they offered me a deal from their website that cost there £8 for £6 what is great for me because I really prefer to deal with Virgin customer service than BTs or Life.

I wouldn't say its a nightmare, but it's definetaly not as smooth as when you're coming from a provider which doesn't belong to EE. I ported a number from 02 and the whole process from ordering the sim and having the older number ported took 5 days. However, when porting a number from TPO which belongs to EE it took around 10 days, but this was because it was done over the holiday season and there was less working days.
On the positive side, the costumer support is very helpful and I've never waited more than 2 minutes to talk with an operator.
