Was looking for a phone for my little sister and found this gem! It's a 4g phone with a 12 month warranty for under 50 quid! Removable battery and Micro SD slot sealed the deal for me.

Will this work straight off on Tesco mobile seeing as they use/part owned by o2?

there is unlocked MOTO E 2nd GEN for 69 in tesco.

Just did an online chat and they said you can unlock at any time from them for a small fee (didnt tell me how much it would cost though) or from anywhere i want .plus you get an original charger.
dude1974
29 Jan 16#57
All phones from EE come with a wall charger unless stated. p.s if i was to buy a charger it wouldn't be generic one it would have to be a branded original .

Got mine from o2 yesterday load of crap . Tried to get it unlocked from 3 different shops but its being blocked by o2 for 12 months .secondly no phone charger is a joke came with a tiny little usb cable and took 7 hours to charge via laptop.
i'm going to try and send mine back and get the one on EE which can be unlocked.
yessuz to dude1974
29 Jan 16#55
are you sure it will be available for unlock from EE?
and EE requires 10 £ top up. so it's 59.99. and then - it's far better to go with Vodafone MOTO G 3rd GEN for 89.99. much more of the phone. or MOTO E 2nd for 69 from tesco, totally unlocked.
yessuz to dude1974

all these cheap phones come without a charger.
it's 1.5 pound or so for decent 1 A wall charger from ebay

Hi will this work abroad in Pakistan and India if I give it to my friends there as a gift with their local sim cards?
momartin
28 Jan 16#51
Would you need to register the imei on the network by making a call using the O2 sim? I'll be honest I'm not too clued up on all this any more.
yessuz to momartin
28 Jan 16#52
very god question...
i am thinking to return the phone to O2 and get refund, thus I do not want to tear apart the SIM card which was supplied with the phone. if anyone wants to unlock it and you cannot do that via ebay - have you tried to insert the O2 card, to make a call (for registration) and then to unlock?!
momartin
28 Jan 16#48
Bit of a shady way of doing it though, there was nothing on the product listing to suggest you can't unlock it. I'd take it to a local phone shop, see if they can do something by connecting it up to a pc etc.
yessuz to momartin
28 Jan 16#50
yup. i was told by ebay'er to try to go there. just wonder, how much would such service cost? maybe it's better just to send it back to O2 for refund? within 14 days you can do that
damoville
28 Jan 16#49
Yeah I agree that is the only other option nobody's fault just bloody stupid on o2 half

28 Jan 16#47
O2 are blocking it from leaving their network for 12 months. Trying to keep people on their network

28 Jan 16#42
They can do it after 12 months like someone else said in this thread. Everyone say that o2 blocks the request so its wait 12 months or nothing
momartin
28 Jan 16#41
As I said via PM mate, if you've spoken to o2 and they can unlock it then it is possible to unlock, doesn't mean it 'officially' can't be unlocked, just have to find the right place or method I suppose.
damoville
28 Jan 16#40
It officially can't be unlocked tried 7 different websites now all the same answer. So do not buy this unless your on o2

28 Jan 16#39

Exactly, you get what you pay for. If I was buying any phone for £50, I'd not expect much in the way of updates or support. If you want that, buy a Moto G 3rd Gen or a flagship device.

so you buy a cheap stuff from LG basic range like Argos Value and then expect top performance as iphone 6s to blame the LG brand eventually... wow.

I had an LG Chocolate many many moons ago and I hated it but after my sister using this phone for a few days I must say I'm mega impressed with it. For the money and for a teenager at college it's fantastic. She has it running on giffgaff and has all the apps kids need nowadays. Regardless of opinions of LG you can't dispute that this is an awfully cheap phone!

LG = cold, I had an LG phone in the past and it stank, the worst phone I've ever had, they may be better now true but I also had an LG DVD player and I wasn't impressed with that either.

LG really turned a corner when they brought out the G2. Lots of updates and a fantastic device. Not sure about the lower end handsets and support but they are much better than they used to be.

The Y635 has a bigger screen but low resolution, no 4g and kit kat. suppose it depends on what is more important to you.
