Can be unlocked for £1 and didn't require a top up. Main difference would be the back which is about a tenner on eBay

maybe a new app consuming power or an old one with a update that consumes power?

Tried that a few timse and it tells me i'm on the latest version. I also connected to the computer and tried to do it using the LG bridge app and it still wouldn't find it. Bit odd, might just email LG. Don't want to factor reset and then get the apps back etc.

You should just be able to go too update in the settings menu and download it from there, warning though it is nearly 1gb in size

Anyone have any idea when to expect Marshmallow on this (UK handset)? I've been waiting for ages and expected to have had it by now, considering it was being tested in Poland a good while ago. Cheers

Turn off data if you don't need it. Same with GPS and avoid high battery usage apps like facebook. Facebook must be the worst app for battery drain. Open up developer options and tick the box where it says kill the app when you close it or get an app killer. You may find it will last longer. Also if you have just got your phone you will find you are using it a lot more than you would normally. Facebook is the worse I found and no longer have it on my phone.

Actually, I've read that's not the best thing to do to enable ’dont keep activities' in developer options. If this is enabled, your apps completely close down and their cache usage is deleted. This means, next time you launch the app, it will take longer to launch because it is having to start completely from scratch and this will in turn have a detrimental effect on battery life as the phone is doing more work. Also, some apps that might exhibit erratic behaviour if their ability to ’save their state' when fully shutdown hasn't been tested by their developers.
Just what I've read but not tested.

Got a red leather back (511) last Thursday, great phone, battery definitely does not last more than 1 day max currently but it might take some more time for it to get used to the way I'm using the phone, hopefully will get better! Wondering if anyone can help me out with a couple of things:
1) Need to get rid of Vodafone branding & update services/apps, what's the best way to do it? And is there a risk of "bricking" the phone? Really worried about harming it!
2) Do you guys recommend updating to Marshmellow? How do you do that, does it remove Voda splash screen & update services, and will it improve battery life?
Trying to optimise this phone to get the best out of it. Thanks!

I managed to get 2 from Vodafone for £225.
Lollipop was just horrible. The phone took ages to boot up and drains the battery quite quickly. I still got a full day out of it.
I installed Marshmallow 6 and it's great. It also removes the Vodafone splash screen to an LG one.

Mine sits at 100 percent for quite some time , but once it's had a fair amount of SOT then it drops quicker when it reaches 90 percent ,a lot of it is down to the apps installed etc ,wakelocks , email push settings , most LG G4's are identical ,but the major differences come down to apps installed , if my phone and your phone had identical revisions of Marshmallow and identical settings ,identical apps installed ,same aged battery ,our phones would last the same lenght of time .

regardless, it still lasts much longer since I did the update.

My battery is far far better after the marshmallow update. Doze is superb. Charged mine this morning about 9AM and went for a walk for 40 minutes listening to music via bluetooth and a pedometer running. Made a 5 minute call and sent a few texts on my return. Been on my desk since and battery now showing 99%!
It was down to around 80-85% before I updated from lollipop.
EDIT: Just went down to 98% as I was typing lol

Definetly need to let a phone adjust for a few days at least ,but Marshmallow does not offer better battery life than lollipop unless you have the revesion C version of Marshmallow, check out the tech thread over at xda forums for more indepth well informed opinions on the Lg G4 battery life .
I managed to get a Voda deal at 225 ,very happy with my g4 ,but still waiting on revision C of Marshmallow to become available, currently on B

Took my LG G4 back today, only got it yesterday and it had to be charged twice in one day, must have got a dud, very disappointed as i was after one for ages, might wait till they go down a bit more in price and try again, will stick with my LG G2 for now.

Should have stuck marshmallow on it. I would have expected two charges on the first day due to all the installs, setup etc (under Lollipop)

just sent my g4 back. Battery life was shocking even after following all advice I could find. To be fair, bar the screen ( which had to be set no higher than 30% ) and camera its no better than my smart ultra 6. Was shocked really as I loved my G2 until I ran it over :disappointed:

yep, found a vodafone store at the brunswick centre 2 weeks ago and nabbed the last one. Voda stores do have them but its a case of doing the rounds which is a right pain in the bottom but worth the hunt if you can get it. On the other side of the coin I see there is a deal on the Moto X which was my previous phone and to be honest in terms of performance and workability not much difference apart from the LG camera which is awesome as opposed to the moto x which is very good.

I'd agree had my G4 for 10 days so far and I have the found the battery life to be exceptional, I've turned down the automatic brightness and I've had it synced to my pebble time and I've only charged it ever 3-4 days

strange, a fiver more than the last deal posted, some people, on that deal had issues with used handsets being passed off as new and some got the model with the possible hardware issue, but overall it is a good deal for a top end phone, heat!
