I do not know much about TVs and I just find the following post. At the bottom of the post there seems some discussion about “fake 4K” or "faux HD (RGBW) panels" of certain similar UF6xx model from LG:
Just wondering if this is true... Appreciate if anyone could help.

Sky will be broadcasting 4k later this year so that isn't strictly correct.
Oh and the BBC are going to be test broadcasting 4k too but only for internal use before they decide on their roll out plans.

why on earth would you buy a 4k tv that can't show full 4k??
there are no 4k tv broadcasts, no point buying a 4k tv unless you plan to stream 4k content either now or in the future

Both Netflix and Prime currently only run at 30fps because of the bandwidth that would be required to manage 60 so currently and for the foreseeable future this isn't an issue, what is an issue however is 1.4 HDMI doesn't usually have access to the HDCP2.2 codec required to run UHD copyrighted programming on most TV's.
This TV has at least one 2.0HDMI socket with HDCP2.2 so it is as futureproof currently as it could possibly be!

The Magic Remote + its WiFi Bluetooth receiver is available for around £50 for the pair, voice recognition won't work with this but its air mouse functionality will.

Will add what I have written for the similar thread about 43 inch version of this model.
I have the 49" version of this model. Its nice. No SMART features actually make this TV better. Get yourself an Amazon Fire TV with 4K or any other player and then you could possibly call any SMART TV 'smart'. I am personally using it with an oldish i5 core laptop connected via Display port -> HDMI cable in Full HD. Kodi works well.

No but you can get it via Amazon Fire TV (latest version) and Nvidia Shield but you will need both as the fire doesn't officially support YouTube and the Shield doesn't have Amazon Prime.. You also need to have the top level of Netflix to get UHD content which is approximately 13 or 14 programs now and a couple of documentaries/documovies - Prime as 50 or 60 movies and series available, some included with Prime, others are chargeable.
4k BluRay has been put back to a late march launch for the 1st lot of Discs with a Samsung player with other models and further titles due in the summertime.

Out of curiosity, what kind of content is out there for 4k?

At the moment, selected shows on Netflix and Amazon Instant Video are 4K, although as far as I'm aware you can only view that content if your TV has the built-in apps which this one does not. You can't get 4K via a Chromecast, PS4 etc.

seems a good price for a 49" 4K tv, I am saving up for one and i am looking at the £500 mark..... didn't know about the HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 though, can you just use normal HDMI leads?

Good price for this specific tv but suspect the hisense deal from Argos yesterday is a better buy overall if you aren't bothered about it being LG.

Don't think HDMI 1.4 can run 60fps in 4K , probably why the TV is quite cheap, it's low spec.
found this HDMI 1.4 supported 4K resolutions, yes, but only at 24 or 30 frames per second. That works fine for movies, but isn't useful for gaming and many TV broadcasts, which require 50 or 60 fps. Also HDMI 1.4 limited 4K Ultra HD content to 8-bit color, though it is capable of 10 or 12-bit color

It states on the official LG website that there are 2 HDMI ports that run 4K content, check technical specs here: http://www.lg.com/uk/tvs/lg-49UF675V
I doubt the LG website is incorrect, otherwise it's false advertising.

The first Richersounds link above says its only HDMI 1.4 and not HDMI 2.0 wont this effect the ability to run 4K content?
