New items added over night - majority require a call to check stock, joined phone queue at 9.05am and the at-at and mos eisley were sold out by the time my call was answered. Sigh...

I would not bother. I've just been in and they had 2 lego chima sets above £50 and two duplo sets- that is all!!!!
The only good thing I could spot was the Mixels @ £2.10 each. And we even found the new range scanned at the same price, so we bought the whole set.

Just mirroring what other people have commented so far - poor product selection in this sale, and the discounts aren't even that great either :disappointed:

Last year, i stayed up waited for the Sale. Bagged loads of great Sets including the Xmas Limited Edition. All stated "available now," then when i received confirmation: "Expected ship date" was in around 4 weeks. Gradually, they cancelled the enitre order practically. It seems, we loose out on the time difference as i assume they have one European Distribution Centre and as we are an hour behind - loose out. There was a Programme on Boxing Day about "Lego at Christmas" where they were keen to promote how superior their Customer Service is. As much as i love the Product - i think the service is pretty shoddy for an expensive item!

Some major fail with Lego this morning. Saw Santa's Workshop on sales, showing "call for availability. Called at exactly 9am when lines were opened. Then was on hold for 15 minutes and the item changed to "Sold Out". Kept on the line until 20 past, still no one picked up........

It's only when you look through this sale selection that you realise how dull some lego ranges can be. I'm usually blinded by many of the great designs in store. I guess most of those sets will be reduced further over the next month. Glad I waited up till midnight  goodnight folks.

Lego doesn't price match other stores, and prices will likely be the same in store as online and stock will be different and more likely to be a better chance of getting rare items than the website.

No pirates on sale, many of the soon to be phased out sets are not on sale. Mini figure packs higher price than Argos.
The sale is in store too nationwide except the lego theme park and hotel.

So according to you the Europe sale will be "nothing like" the US sale??
So you forecast presumably that there will be No sets in the Europe sale that match those in the US sale...........
Well if that turns out to be the case I bow to your superior, inside knowledge of the Jan 2016 Lego sale .

Hi all, quick tip, check out the US store where the sale has started. Should give a fairly good indication.
City Arctic
Pre-Force Awakens Star Wars
2014 Chima as predicted
Pirates due to Nexo Knights
City Fire and Police from the old range i.e. 2014
Friends Jungle
It's basically anything that's still left in stock from January 2014 and earlier ranges, roughly, excluding things that have been migrated into new packaging/ranges - e.g. the High Speed Passenger Train has been re-packaged into the new range.
Hope this helps - and of course the UK sale won't be exactly the same but similar.
Discounts are only usually 20-30% at first as already mentioned so many sets are the same or cheaper at Amazon BUT of course that excludes sets that are already out-of-stock at Amazon, Argos etc. - so it's a balance between seeking out a price-per-brick bargain and the potential scarcity of sets that stop being supplied to major retailers/toy shops at the same time. So for example last time out there were mega-bargains (if you wanted the sets) eventually on the Lego Movie sets as there was excess stock at retailers, sets eventually ended up at 50% off or even better IF THEY DIDN'T go out of stock. But then other sets will sell out either at 20% off or indeed many at full price.
It's a real balance between how much you want the set, how well-stocked it is elsewhere, whether it will drop to 20%, 30%, 50% and whether it sells out at those prices. Surprisingly things often sell out when at 20% off at the official store when they are in fact cheaper still at Amazon... people love buying direct for some reason despite even the sale prices often being not-that-cheap - the brickset website is useful here too if you've never used it.
EDIT: SHOULD REALLY also have mentioned the exclusives aspect e.g. some sets are exclusive to the Lego site and one other retailer e.g. Creator Mini is Lego + John Lewis - those sort of sets will go at 20% because they can't be found cheaper, if they do indeed end up in the sale.
