Cheap price for a power bank. not sure of the performance, as can't find any reviews, but similar on eBay etc are £1/2 more than this.
Tis 2000mah, so should charge iPhone 6 once + a tad bit more. Perfect if your out for the day. Small enough to put in your pocket. I have a bigger one than this, but its too clunky to be carrying around all day & usually find that i only really need maximum of 1 extra charge if I'm out for the whole day.
Usual price is £3, but code '982613601107898879' gets 10% student discount off (non students can currently use this code too). Thanks to rebafmullac1 for the code.

is it still letting people stack codes - doesn't seem to want to for me :disappointed:

It's not letting me stack the codes. It's accepting but the discount is not applied.

Takes a D battery, so far worse than the 4*AA type.

It doesn't take a D battery - it's just shaped like one.

Only 2000mah, not the best.
You can get a 10000mah XIAOMI for about £10.

You can get a small car battery with the equivalent of 135,000mah, along with a car charger for around £45! Better yet, drag a small generator around with you with a full tank of fuel for £100 - £200.
The point is you don't always need a big power bank to carry around. The only point you made, is you spend more to get more.
The 2000mAh will be at 3.7v which is 7.4Wh so at 5v assuming 100% efficiency of the DC-DC converter (which they aren't) this would be 1480mAh so it won't charge an iPhone 6 battery completely.

with EE's recall I am unsure about buying some of the cheaper ones, as to possible fire risks.

The fire risks are real but overplayed. EE's recall was due to only a handful of incidents of the many hundreds of thousands they sent out. I'm happy to keep using mine for a while yet, just being sensible and not charging it constantly or leaving it near a pile of newspapers, and keeping an eye on how hot its getting.

I bought one of these to try and extend the usefulness of an old smartphone. Quite handy and portable. Would recommend trying to get hold of a dual USB plug for those trips away where sockets are sparse do that you can charge this and phone at the same time.

I agree with OrangeAgent , we had 2 ee power bars used to get hot when charging and charging the phone , although I did like them decided it was worth the fire or explosion risk for 35p and gave back to ee. went out and bought a juice squash power bank and it doesn't get hot at all, so maybe that says something

I bought this over a year ago from a furniture store for £7. It's worked fine for me. Just like my Anker portable battery and most others, it gets hot while charging and while charging your phone. Can't remember how much charge it gives my iPhone 6 but it's certainly been great for me. Quite funny, so many people asked how I converted a D battery to a usb charger. To this day some people think I'm an engineering genius. Great device, great price.
