It's back -12th Feb only!
20x points from Rakuten with NO limit on how many points and valid on EVERYTHING
Basically, for those that don't know, whatever you buy, you get 20% back of what you spend in Rakuten Superpoints (Like Rakuten Credit).
You can spend it on whatever you want, so say you get £30 back on a PS4, nab yourself a game for free.
How much is the 20x Super Points promo worth??
For every £1 you spend, for one day only you'll get 20 Super Points - these will be credited to your Rakuten account usually within a couple of weeks of your order being sent to you.
20 SuperPoints is worth 20p, and once they're credited to your account you can spend them on anything you like! It's worth noting that super points can expire - check the T&C of the promo to find out how long your points will last.
What if i cancel my order?
Super Points are only credited once the seller return window has closed, meaning if you cancel or return your order you won't get your points.
How do I know how many Super Points I have?
Just sign in to your Rakuten account, any account credits will show on there and will be ready to spend on the next big deal!
I cannot believe how many people have fallen for their marketing as their products are crap and overpriced.

Bit off topic with this deal - but I can't believe how poor this retailer website has gotten since the former Play.com days. Received an e-mail yesterday with a limited offer of 200 points (essentially £2 off) that had to be spent before midnight-assume I'm still registered. Even with free money on offer I gave up after 10 minutes - really awful browsing experience and it seems like they're just pimping out the site to third party sellers these days. Voted Hot for spamming the post though!

Yes it's just a marketplace these days I believe. There are some shady outfits operating through it as well, I'd be careful spending money through them. Having said that I'm typing this on a Nexus 6 I got through them from Expansys (another terrible retailer, but they do at least have a phone number) which gave me £70 of points that I put towards a PC case. The case was from a seller I'd never heard of, but I did my research and found their eBay page with many positive reviews. They also dealt with a stock query very amicably over the phone. So I think if you're careful you can save a considerable amount, otherwise just stick to Amazon

You do need to be careful with Rakuten. There was a shop selling TVs that I reported that had an email address that was like [email protected] and googling the mobile phone number referred to a website that was suspended as they hadn't paid their bills.
Having said that, I have got some great bargains by mixing voucher codes, points and cashback so heat added. Just treat it like ordering from ebay and research the retailer

Having used Expansys many times, both directly and via Rakuten; I have had no issues at all. Everything as described, perfectly packaged. Sent by next day delivery even though I paid for standard delivery. Had an issue with one the items within warranty and they sorted pick up, repair and return. I would call them an excellent retailer.

15 Jan 16#38
Using one of the OP's examples, the BOSE system is not £135 after points, however you dress it up you're still spending £169 then getting credit to spend on something else. You don't end up with only £135 coming out of your pocket (unless you can now cash in your credits?).
That said, still a good deal for those wanting to buy multiple items and gain credit from purchase 1.

Yes but in the Sonos example they rarely go on sale so the purchaser will be expecting to pay full price. But getting £33 > £110 back in vouchers seems to be a good deal.

I'm confused...
I though for each 1£ we would get 5 points back (0.05£), so 20x points would mean that we would get 100 points (1£ for each 1£ spent)...
Another thing that is confusing me is the following:
Lets take the Wii U that costs £ 215.00 and below the price is written 20X 4,300 Points.
Does this mean I'll get 4300 points / 43£ total (according to my thoughts above it should be 21500 points /215£ ) or 20x4300=86000 points (860£ back for 215£ spent :P)?

5. The Super Points earned during the Promotional Period will only be valid until 29th February 2016 and after this date they can no longer be redeemed.
8. The Super Points will be allocated to the customer’s account 8 days after the merchant shipped the item.

Agree with the comments. There are some very good retailers on the site (Forefront Cases, Frosty Cow, Fynbuy, SmartParts) but I have had poor customer service from Smart Choice 786 who completely ignored emails, ignored a refund request and don't answer their phone. Such a flawed concept. Reward points back when purchasing from a seller, who can alter their prices in an instant (everything's prices rocket). Then when you get your points they have an expiry date, meaning after that date everyone puts their prices back down. Then a new 20x points promotion comes back.... The cycle. Way of making you think you're saving more than you actually are at the same time as getting publicity.
However, fair play to them it seems to work!

What I want to know though... is what do points mean?
The sony needs 4 plugs it's also got 2 surround sound speakers and a seperate sub. It's not a fair comparison.
If your looking at the sony then your better off getting an amp and speaker setup. I managed to get 2 monitor audio bx6's (£650 a pair when launched) and a centre speaker for £220 second hand that's about 1/4 of the price they were brand new. I then managed to get a Yamaha 677 AVR for £170 delivered (4 months old and was around £550 when launched the original owner paid £250 on a clearance sale then upgraded 4 months later). So £390 got me a 3.0 setup which I can expand up to 7.2 at anytime which will blow a soundbar setup out the water.
If you want a single bar then buy a yamaha. If you want a real surround sound setup then buy one don't buy something in between.
Also second hand market has really great bargains. People on here don't like buying second hand for some reason but I would like them to show me a better setup than mine for triple the money I paid brand new. Obviously some things you don't buy second hand but speakers and amps are fine. Last time I made the second hand argument a moron came along and asked if I bought second hand underwear for example.

You have to chase them up, and the whole process is slow. I made a £100 purchase in December during their x15 points promotion...retailer Fox Direct did not fulfil it until mid-January and only x1 points were applied to my order.
It takes around a week after your order ships for your order to progress from 'shipped' to 'complete' whereby they process your super points to even discover if they have applied the correct amount of points to an order.
If incorrect as in my instance, a phone call to them will sort it out...however they say this can take up to ten working days. In my case I had an email authorising them within a couple of days...however even then after a day or two I noticed they had not gone on my account.
A further phone call to them explained that it can take a few days for them to show on your account, and they did, around 5-6 days after my initial phone call.
It's a slow administration process, but they will add on points if questioned. That does not stop me from not being impressed with Rakuten or their merchant Fox Direct though and I would only use them if price dictated a significant saving compared to elsewhere.

Thats from a super points offer a few weeks ago. The points earned today are valid until 31st March 2016 according to the t's and c's.
Gutted... Just spent £460~ on a new computer yesterday... If it wasn't for the fact that the points take 1-3 weeks to be confirmed and spendable, I'd genuinely think about sending my stuff back for a £50ish saving!

I bought a game with my points last time, it didn't arrive, points never got refunded, despite numerous emails and phone calls. Points refunds have to be authorised by European head office apparently, but they never materialised.
In short, i'll never use rakuten again. There's plenty of other warnings about them and the website is awful.
Happy shopping.

I bought a 3ds which worked out a good deal with the points back. It wasn't a good deal on its own.
I didn't get the points so I emailed them, about 5 days later no response, emailed again. A few days after that again no response.
So I returned the 3ds as a change of mind (it was still unopened). I got a refund no problem from the seller.
A few weeks later rakuten replied to my email and gave me the points. Free money!

I had a text from one of my friends last week saying he just bought a Bose Solo 5 and he was really pleased with the sound of it. I didn't have the heart to dissuade his love of his purchase but wished he would have let me know he was ready to buy so I could have advised him otherwise, he has been going on for ages about buying a soundbar and his £180 could have bought or been put towards something much better.

Don't forget 3.5% Quidco as well.
I would agree that many times things can be cheaper elsewhere but if you can combine it with a code (eg TOYS15) then the deals can be hard to beat when you take into account discount code/points/quidco.

If it is anything like me, you will have very few days to redeem the Superpoints. They apply them after 8 days or so and then expect you to use them within a week typically, without reminding you that you have been credited them or when they will expire. I had to go overseas and so missed all my superpoints late last year, and there has been absolutely no compromise from Rakuten, and they have refused to share any complaints procedure with me to escalate it anywhere other than through there anonymous web help handlers. I then asked for a Deadlock Letter and they have clammed up without a response whatsoever. I feel very upset by this and think it is very unfair. So be warned. Review the T&Cs and don't expect any come back from them. They don't give a monkeys. Superpoints are a gimmick AFAIAC
Not like me to be so upset, but I am really aggrieved on this one occasion with them because I have used Play/Rakuten for years without any problems prior to this superpoints expiry issue.

Stay away from these super points deal! It's a rip-off.
They do not tell you that you have to wait up to 16 days before you would get your points. So there is a good chance that you are going to forget about it and your points are going to be expired before you would use them.
And you end up with a pricey item.
Even if you don't forget it and you check your Rakuten account daily, you still pay extra price in your first purchase and you pay extra price again in your next one as well.
So eventually you pay just the regular price with the super points.

Buy Yamaha if you want a soundbar
Having said that, I have got some great bargains by mixing voucher codes, points and cashback so heat added. Just treat it like ordering from ebay and research the retailer
You just get some Rakuten points to spend on other stuff like software perhaps!
£580 for a UK Galaxy S6 Edge Plus with £120 off my next purchase....
Think I'd rather have the warranty.
it's a good game for someone to pick up with their points if they order the wii u bundle too
£33 points for play 1 £136
£110 points for playbar £440
That said, still a good deal for those wanting to buy multiple items and gain credit from purchase 1.
Bought another play 1 thanks.
I've been trying my best to research, but it's a minefield out there. I will mostly be using it for gaming and Sky. Thanks in advance
words such as play, game, etc are just so generic to be used as a business/retailer brand name.they soung boring, generic and primitive.
How much is this points worth and can I buy a game with the points?
The last time I got £7 worth,, I checked every few days for a month and hadnt recevied them,, logged in a week later and it said id recevied them on the tuesday and theyd expired on the Friday.
No points
The nomral points last for a much longer period although read the T&Cs
that deal you thought youd got might not be so good
Unless you log in everyday you have no way of knowing if theyve credited your account
Went for a Surface Dock. £139.99 is cheaper then MS anyway.
Regards
Or is it more complicated?
I had a few from the last time they did 20x and when I went to use them a couple month later they were gone.
Could have put that extra £45 towards another GTX 980.
Arrrgggghhhhh.............
4. There is a minimum spend of £1 per item in order to qualify for this Super Points promotion and customers will earn 20 Super Points for every £1 spent on all purchases completed on the Site during the Promotional Period.
5. The Super Points earned during the Promotional Period will only be valid until 29th February 2016 and after this date they can no longer be redeemed.
8. The Super Points will be allocated to the customer’s account 8 days after the merchant shipped the item.
Full T&Cs for this promotion here.
Good if you get decent retailers but check before you buy!!!
I personally will not be using Rakuten again as they are sloppy with poor customer service if anything goes wrong
you cannot use the points for your first purchase.
so the "potential" nonsense example in case of Wii U is nonsense.it will cost you £210.and they give you £42 worth of points for the next purchase..also their games are extremely and un-reasonably over priced...ike £52 for a copy of Mario 3D World...
However, fair play to them it seems to work!
The Super Points earned during the Promotional Period will only be valid until 29th February 2016 and after this date they can no longer be redeemed.
The Super Points will be allocated to the customer’s account 8 days after the merchant shipped the item.
Onkyo AV TX-SR444 £249.95 Richer Sounds
£150 more  Even with £70 of vouchers back its not worth it.
