The battery on this phone, p8 lite, is pretty good, and just for info it has gone from 100% charged at 9pm last night on standby to 92% charged at 9am this morning.
So as far as I am concerned , its a pretty good battery and far better that the one in a Samsung S4.

10 Jan 16#191
So if you are looking at this P8 Lite and comparing to S6 I have to ask. What is wrong with the Samsung S6? If the price is your problem then give it up, otherwise you`re no better than those Apple fan lemmings.

I would like the extra storage and to be honest not that impressed with battery life, I am not biased in any way otherwise I would not be asking for info from owners. Money is not the problem for me, I can return the S6 to amazon and buy this but am unsure, if it was being sold by amazon I could order and if no good return it. CPW is not going to be so easy if I buy from there.

The shape of the case, the on/off button seemed to be very fiddly to push in. There was no finesse to the case itself. It is difficult to really tell as they are display dummy units, I did order one online but got a text saying they needed more info before they could process my order. I have not contacted carphonewarehouse as in all honesty If I have trouble placing an order then my concern is that if anything goes wrong I will struggle to get it resolved. Still tempted though.

I have this phone, and I don't think it feels and looks cheap. As I have said before, it is light and fast. It does however depend on what you want to use your phone for. If you play games and watch movies, then this phone is probably not for you.
Out of interest, have you actaully compared this phone to the twice the price at least S6, I have and yes the S6 is a far better phone but at a lot more money.

Can anyone quickly confirm for me; if I get this handset with EE on the carphone warehouse site, can I use it with a Giff Gaff sim without needing to pay to unlock it or is it only with specific operators? The reason I've thought of EE is because I know someone who is on EE Pay as you go and they can use the voucher, I have a Giff Gaff sim and would be using the sim for this instead.
Otherwise I know someone who is on O2 but I'm not so sure they'd need the top up voucher so might not use it or offer back any money for it.

Please can someone help? My contract with EE finished in Oct and wanting a new phone, settled on this P8 Lite as it looks really good. I'd like a monthly Sim Only / P&G deal, but don't really understand the whole CPW upgrade options on this link? I'd like to stay EE or possibly go to O2, would I be eligible for this £89 deal?! Looking on amazon, the P8 Lite is £140 sim free so what would I be best doing? Many thanks

3 Jan 16#151
The Pay As You Go upgrades with this deal are only for those who have used the respective network on Pay As You Go for a certain period of time and have used the SIM actively. If you don't have a Pay As You Go SIM for that network or you have one but isn't often used, you'd be very unlikely to be eligible for an upgrade.
These upgrades only apply to true PAYG customers, not any Pay Monthly or SIM Only customer.
Your best option would be to buy it on Pay As You Go for £99.99 plus a £10 top up on Vodafone, then keep that SIM with the £10 top up as a spare. You're free to pop in any SIM of your choice as ALL Carphone Warehouse phones, apart from iPhones, are unlocked.

I suggest you buy it for £109 ONLINE, you will get a £10 top up included too, and it should be delivered by tomorrow. I stopped going to phone due the bad experience, pushy sales people trying to sell me contract phones etc
I now ONLY go there just to physically view devices and get a feel off the phone.

3 Jan 16#140
I had quite a bad experience in CPW today. Tried to ring local stores to check for stock but no answer, drove to closest branch - no stock but checked the system and found another store nearby with 6 black P8 Lites.
Visited that branch, salesman asked if I currently had a phone connected to a network to which I replied yes.
He then wouldn't sell me the £99 offer as that is for people who are not connected and I would only be able to buy the SIM free deal at £149.
Almost walked out in disbelief at how this guy could look at me with a straight face but then said OK my other half will take it as she "hasn't got a phone". He went out back and suddenly they don't have stock for this handset, said something about deliveries being stolen.
So right now I am delaying my purchase for a week and doing more research as to what I want

I wanted to buy this phone as new pay as you go from carphone warehouse on vodafone and use it with post office mobile sim. but the staff member from carphone store said I will have to use the sim supplied with phone for 3months. I can not cancel the pay as you go contract before 3months. is that true?
would appreciate help frm someone who had pay as you go phone with carphone warehouse.
preecey to 0611hh
3 Jan 16#139
That's completely incorrect. You can put any SIM of your choice in from day one. Fact!
If the staff member ever asks you for your bank details (sort code/account number), do not proceed as they're clearly trying to sell you a SIM Only contract without your explicit consent.

The battery inside the P8 Lite is quite small in comparison to other Android devices with similar display sizes. The P8 Lite is marketed more towards being thin and attractive instead of having great battery life. The thin body probably means the largest capacity battery Huawei were able to fit into it was one just bordering on 2000mAh.
If you want a higher resolution display and much better battery life, have you given the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 any consideration? The only downside to that phone is the 5.5" display, but of course that may be advantageous if you prefer larger phones. It will be a monster in comparison to your iPhone 5 though, you'd be able to fit the whole iPhone into just the display area of the SU6.
ceaton88
2 Jan 16#132
Agreed I think its a clever way to get mainstream users to upgrade after a couple generations.
Just reading up on reviews of the P8 Lite my only concern is the battery life - which is actually the most important feature of a phone for me followed closely by the display.
Can anyone comment on the battery life being particularly poor?

2 Jan 161#131
That's one of the benefits of Android I guess - phones which aren't Nexus-branded tend to get few updates (and in most cases hardly any or even none at all), which may slow the phone down.
I have an iPhone 6 myself and having owned iPhones in the past I'm fully aware that each update carries more and more lag each time to the point the phone is almost unusable. Found this with my iPhone 4. It's almost like Apple has built in planned obsolescence to their phones.

I had a really awful experience trying to get this phone on pay as you go
In one store the salesman refused to believe I would be using the supplied payg sim, referring to me as a 'box breaker', and said he'd only let me buy the sim free model for £149.99!
In a different store the salesman insisted on talking me through the 24-month contract options, and then the SIM only contract options (with SIM free handset purchase)... Eventually, 45 minutes and a credit search later, he backed down and let me have it on pay as you go.
Save yourself the hassle - get it online or better yet elsewhere.

CPW online pretty bad too. I ordered a phone that was out of stock, website said stock would be reserved and sent as soon as it became available. A couple of days after it was in stock again on the website, I had had nothing from CPW. I had to call them to get them to fulfil the order. That was my first ever order from CPW, a week or so later my card details were hacked, card provider declined all my non-CPW transactions (including a flight booking which subsequently increased in price when I rebooked) and I had to get a replacement credit card. Not worth the hassle, I would rather pay a few quid more for someone who can properly handle orders and keep my card details safe.

Just had a good play on one of these and I have to say it is seriously good value. The cameras are noticeably superior to the ones found in the Smart Ultra 6. I was amazed actually.
Going back to what I said earlier, there's an awful lot of Huawei customisation such as gestures. I was particularly pleased with the 'draw a letter while the screen is off to open an app' feature. Another feature I found which I thought was exclusive to Samsung was the ability to shrink the screen into the left or right hand corner to make it easier for one handed use.
So as I said the decision between this and the SU6 is basically down to preference, if you prefer a better, bigger screen and stock Android, the Smart Ultra 6 is for you. If you want a better camera, a screen more suited to smaller hands, and more added value features normally found on flagship devices, the P8 Lite is for you.

Yes, you'd need the phone number of the Virgin SIM and the SIM Serial Number (which is the long number printed on the back of the SIM and is unrelated to the phone number).
The Talk Mobile SIM won't work, it has to be a proper Vodafone PAYG SIM. Similarly with the O2 PAYG upgrade, a GiffGaff SIM etc won't be eligible; it has to be a proper O2 PAYG SIM.

Performance-wise, yes.
The camera is better on the P8 Lite.
The software on the SU6 is very much stock Android with no extra added features
The software on the P8 Lite is skinned heavily with Huawei's Emotion UI, with plenty of added features such as gesture controls and other things commonly found in Samsung and LG devices.
So it's basically a matter of whether you prefer a larger, higher resolution screen with stock Android and an average camera - or a smaller, lower resolution screen with some added software features and a better camera

I received my Huawei Honor 7 on Monday. I got it for £175 on one of Amazon's lightning deals & I'm absolutely blown away by it. Easily a phone that matches the "branded" £600 phones in both quality and Performance.
Huawei are a Chinese manufacturing company that design and assemble phones for the main brands, they are now working with Google to brake their own brand into the western markets with these high spec cheap phones. There's a YouTube video showing the insides of the Honor 7 phone, all the chipsets inside are Samsung & the rear 20mp camera is the found in the latest Sony Xperias.
They are currently designing and manufacturing the next Nexus unit.

Hands down a no brainer between the two. The "Octacores" are often cheats like on my Tronsmart AW80 tv box where the extra 4 cores are actually 'lite' cores to keep the chip cool (fail) and gets blown away by benchmarks from all the Quad Cores - so much so that Tronsmart/Allwinner FAKED the Antutu Benchmark scores by adding multiplier code to their config files to show incredible benchmark results that don't stack up against real time usage and performance.

Currently you can easily (with little effort though) unlock bootloader and install generic Huawei firmware.
It's being sold by CPW with generic but operator's firmware - one sim only active. You need totally generic firmware from Huawei to get dual-sim feature working.
Latest available firmware with version number B170 is 5.0.1

When changing firmware keep in mind there are two hardware versions, one with Qualcomm chipset (marked ALE-L04, avoid in UK, you will have problems with 4G LTE bands, this is version for USA and Asia) and Hisilicon Kirin chipset (ALE-L21, EU version, sold by CPW) with EU LTE bands.
Probably best phone for the price, bought mine for 108 + 10 topup. Now it's even better.
Drawbacks: average camera, no OTG USB, you have to choose: second sim or microSD card, not both

Ignore that review because it's for the US version (Snapdragon 615 chipset, Android 4.4.4 KitKat) whereas the European version has a Kirin 620 chipset and Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Good price, but don't expect a great screen. It pales in comparison to the screen on the Moto G 3rd.
I found it to be dull and washed out with no pop at all. It also has poor peak brightness which makes it difficult to read outdoors.
It ruined the phone for me despite its better qualities (build quality, camera). A phone is only as good as its screen IMO.

So as far as I am concerned , its a pretty good battery and far better that the one in a Samsung S4.
Best bet is see YouTube videos reviews or unboxing.
For me personally its fantastic for £99
I get 2GB ram, latest android, great camera and outstanding battery life
Out of interest, have you actaully compared this phone to the twice the price at least S6, I have and yes the S6 is a far better phone but at a lot more money.
Each to his own.
The screen will be of a lower density and the camera won't be as good. Best bet is to try it and have it side by side with your S6.
If you have any questions ask here
Battery wise its getting better. Managed to get 5 hours screen time!!!
huawei p8 lite vs xyz 6s
you will get a list of various sites whch compare the 2 phones. Substitute xyz 6s for the name of the phone you want to compare this one to.
But signal will depend on area too
Can you comment on the earpiece for when on calls? Can you hear ok?
The review I read was that it wasnt very good for calls... Only thing putting me off
Thanks
Here are some great tips
- If you hold down the "Multi task button" (Square) It will automatically go to the previous app you were using
- If in photo gallery and you swipe down the camera will come and open
- Enable Double tap to wake the screen
- You CAN uninstall most of the prebuilt apps - Games etc
Time will tell how I get on but first impressions are good
You're probably looking at the SIM Free price.
Otherwise I know someone who is on O2 but I'm not so sure they'd need the top up voucher so might not use it or offer back any money for it.
So I have to buy a 'topped up' 30 day P&G Sim regardless? I'm assuming you're saying get the Vodafone Sim from CPW as that's the cheapest option of all those listed?! That makes sense. Is it cheaper anywhere else currently...?!
So I'm thinking of doing what you say, buying the phone from CPW for £99, the Vodafone Sim for £9.99 and chucking that in a draw! (or could I sell it on eBay?!) then buying this SIM card from Life mobile:
http://www.uswitch.com/mobiles/sim_only_deal/0d5d547682db0a32d14a0c8b0d8e2a7619dd85af?page=%2Fmobiles%2Fcompare%2Fsim_only_deals%2F&position=9
Which seems to be well regarded on here. Sticking that in the P8 for £6pm and jobs a good'un...!
If you have any questions or issues let me know
If anyone else has any questions let me know, I try my best to help out

You have 2 slots
1 for sim
1 for either a Nano Sim (making it dual sim) OR too add a micro sd card
So in short, you either have option for dual sim or option for 1 sim plus micro sd card (more space)
Also do bear in mind this is 16gb and has around 10gb free!!!
Wow that's shocking!
The advisor probably (and of course, mistakenly) thought you were a box breaker.
would appreciate help frm someone who had pay as you go phone with carphone warehouse.
If the staff member ever asks you for your bank details (sort code/account number), do not proceed as they're clearly trying to sell you a SIM Only contract without your explicit consent.
It is fast enough for me with 2Gb Rom, and no Chinese bloatware as I know of.
The battery life is 2200mAH
From my experience it has been very very good. I can easily get 1 day usage and around 4 hour to 4.5 hour screen time.
I am a medium user and use Email,Whatsapp, Internet shopping/browsing, Music
but no games maybe that's why.
If I put the phone on aeroplane mode over night I get 0% drain! Which is great
If you want a higher resolution display and much better battery life, have you given the Vodafone Smart Ultra 6 any consideration? The only downside to that phone is the 5.5" display, but of course that may be advantageous if you prefer larger phones. It will be a monster in comparison to your iPhone 5 though, you'd be able to fit the whole iPhone into just the display area of the SU6.
Just reading up on reviews of the P8 Lite my only concern is the battery life - which is actually the most important feature of a phone for me followed closely by the display.
Can anyone comment on the battery life being particularly poor?
I only really use my phone for Whatsapp, Facebook and Google Maps so don't need to pay big bucks for a smart phone
I have an iPhone 6 myself and having owned iPhones in the past I'm fully aware that each update carries more and more lag each time to the point the phone is almost unusable. Found this with my iPhone 4. It's almost like Apple has built in planned obsolescence to their phones.
Had an old virgin sim (and I mean old)and accept for upgrade £89.99 less £5 quidco.
I was wondering if I can use it with my O2 sim; I have an O2 pay as you go sim and don't want to change to Vodaphone. If I get this, as I know Carphone Warehouse have unlocked phones, has anyone been able to switch the sim it comes with to a different sim from a different network (or done something like this with a different handset) and been able to use the phone without any further unlocking/messing around with technical stuff?
The Talk Mobile SIM won't work, it has to be a proper Vodafone PAYG SIM. Similarly with the O2 PAYG upgrade, a GiffGaff SIM etc won't be eligible; it has to be a proper O2 PAYG SIM.
I have a TalkMobile SIM currently on monthly contract, perhaps I may be eligible for the vodafone PAYG upgrade price (since TalkMobile runs on vodafone network AFAIK)?
Are they unlocked?
Cop?? Sorry?

The software on the SU6 is very much stock Android with no extra added features
The software on the P8 Lite is skinned heavily with Huawei's Emotion UI, with plenty of added features such as gesture controls and other things commonly found in Samsung and LG devices.
So it's basically a matter of whether you prefer a larger, higher resolution screen with stock Android and an average camera - or a smaller, lower resolution screen with some added software features and a better camera

Sorry are you asking for a loan?
Still a good deal though.
Ultra 6, if you have higher budget and want a 5.5inch screen
someone said this doesnt have a sd card slot? something like it shares it with the sim slot. anyone confirm? sounds confusing like one or the other which makes no sense.
not sure i can resist this a third time >.< i own two huawei's already
You have another Slot - But in this Slot - You can add a
- Micro SD Card for more storage upto 128gb (What most people do)
OR
Add a Nano Phone sim - So add an additional phone sim so you can use 2 different phone numbers
Really, I assumed it was..
Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu AAAAAAAAA Weeeeeeeeeeeee i ?
Official pronunciation is "Wah Wei"
In this price range (or just above) I think better options are Moto G, Wilyfox Swift, Alcatel Idol 3 (4.7) and Asus Zenfone 5.
Have you noticed any bugs or negative points?
However if you have a Virgin Pay as you go Sim: You may be eligible for an PAYG upgrade in which you can buy it for £89.99
Says it is 5.0 at present.
or 5.1.1.???
Thanks
So only a phone without memory expansion to many.
ERr why not? Isn't 4g faster?
The specs looked good to me and it'll work on 4g here.
From review, and specs its very good. Its hard to find a phone with 2GB RAM from UK Shop under £100 with a 13mp camera. Its very good for the price considering you get a UK Warranty too
Its a very good device! Better than I expected - vgood battery life, and very fast, 2gb RAM makes everything fly! Camera is very good too and there are added cool features like Double tap to wake up
