It has a 64-bit processor, which will become the norm over the course of this year and next.

you'll get all the updates within 28 days of release. unlike Samsung who just got sued for not updating handsets

As the owner of one I'd recommend a OnePlus X instead. Cheaper and better specification then this.

Not unless you are already a giffgaff customer you will have to purchase a Goodybag along with this phone not unless they have changed their t&c's, the cheapest Goodybag is the hokey cokey which is £5

Lovely phone, fast, beautiful to look, lovely to hold, but is it really worth £100 more than the Moto X (2nd gen).
Don't forget though it's running Android 6 with Doze which is supposed to be much more efficient.

See here on giffgaff its still £5 cheapest, one month and you get minutes, text and data and all FREE from giffgaff to giffgaff.
Helps to look at performance of the OnePlus X vs A9...think the thing to remember is both are very nice phones and at this price the A9 is about right price as was way overpriced on launch.

Price this should have launched at to start with. I really hope HTC don't go the way of the Dodo, loved the M7 and been hoping for a worthy upgrade since.

Why compare this to a £200 G4, G Flex, Moto X etc? a better comparison would be a £100 Smart Ultra 6 lol.
£299 for this spec, haha.

I have this on contract as my personal phone, it compares favourably to the Galaxy S6 which isn't as premium to hold and use, the fingerprint unlock works far better on the HTC as well in my experience.

I have been a huge HTC champion for years, even using one now. But they're done. They haven't done anything new for years, my M8 running Marshmallow is sticky, slow and the battery doesn't last a day.
I will not be buying another HTC. They took their eye off the ball to make VR stuff, and they've even said they intend to focus on VR in the future. Want a decent, Android phone? Then get the S6, it'll be this price in the near future.

Ditto to the above. my M8 isn't as good as it used to be with KitKat.

The S6 is currently stuck on Lollipop, you can get Marshmallow beta on it, which massively improves the phone. It's a total dog on Lollipop though. The bugs in Lollipop make me want to dropkick the phone out of the window. Worst Android phone I've bought since I bought a Samsung Galaxy in 2010. Totally crippled by a useless OS.

this phone was actually not too bad to use. didn't try gaming but it felt fast to me. and fairly slick.
i love my m7 but htc haven't done anything good for ages.
my m7 is still fairly fast but gets very hot if anything uses the cpu much... standby battery lasts ages. in use. it drains very fast

I went from the M7 to this phone, it was important to me that the phone had the same well built feel that I had with the M7 which this one does. Performance has been fine for me including the battery life

I guess it's a deal, tho a OnePlus X feels like a better value
On a side note, since when is a tiny battery, 16GB, mono speakers, a sluggish SD 617 and micro USB considered future-proof? Misleading description

This looks like a really nice phone. For those saying 'you could have a Smart Ultra 6 for loads less', this isn't the same - HTC have a really nice design team and their UI design is second-to-none if you ask me: I prefer Sense UI even to stock Android. I've played with this phone in the flesh and it's so lovely. Unfortunately the phone I can use at the moment is somewhat dictated by what my family is using. I've owned the Oneplus X as well as the Oneplus 2 and personally I'd rather own this. If cost is your primary objective then no, this is not the best value for money in terms of the sum of its parts; however HTC have been good with updates - M8s are now getting Marshmallow in the UK - and if you like their design and the look of the Sense UI skin then I definitely don't think this is a bad price.

Fair enough, I did say probably so worth checking BUT wherever I see giffgaff mentioned my blood boils, their own forums are chock full of complaints and I was one of their customers so I know what I'm talking about. don't think I'm spreading false info.
