Everything else is top notch, including the looks.
1080P will probably only be standard with all laptops in 2025...for now they cost 40% extra on average compared to HD 720P screens.

Yes, I am strongly agree with you. Many videos and applications are aim to optimized for 1080p nowadays...

Completely agree. Every half-decent phone screen seems to be QHD or 4K now but every laptop screen under about £600 is only 768p :disappointed:

They should make HD+ 1600 x 900 resolution standard for these laptops instead of 1366 x 768.

It will definitely have Gigabit (I was wrong, check out my findings below). The specs on HP's website say it doesn't. Right time to check out the drivers and see what the score is.
DEVICES SUPPORTED:
Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller
So when I said it definitely will have Gigabit, I meant oh this laptop is crap it doesn't even support Gigabit which has been on many computers since around 2003!
""Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller"
... the FE stands for "Fast Ethernet"
Fast Ethernet is "10/100"
the alternative is the GBE family, which is "GigaBit Ethernet" - aka 10/100/1000."
This laptop DOES NOT support Gigabit. This is 2015, that is quite frankly absurd!
i5 - CHECK
1GB SATA HDD - CHECK
12GB RAM - CHECK
B&O Audio - CHECK
Long battery life - CHECK
Gigabit Ethernet - LOL of course everything has Gigabit these days and has for years, hmm oh wait - FAIL!
This laptop is a failure.

If you bothered to check, most HP laptops have the same network ethernet speeds as this, even ones twice the price as this.
It's a great laptop at a great price for 99.9% of people.

That is hardly any excuse though as HD 720P screens are not exactly pricey to begin with.

Just to add if you are student you can buy this from HP student store for £395 not much difference but might be useful for some.

Try 15-20% tops. I upgraded my hp to fhd for £60, and that's full retail.

There are plenty of cheaper laptops with 1080P screens. Their processors are not even close to a 5th gen Intel Core i5 though and they usually have only 4GB of RAM, thus the cheaper price. I did a check an hour ago for the same specs with 1080P, it is about 40% so my guestimate was correct.

Doesn't seem to have wireless ac either. The hp laptop at pc world for same price but with only 8gb ram and 6th gen i5, 2TB and wireless ac seems better in my opinion.

Not much to choose between them.
This ones got more storeage, less ram but the latest i5 core
I'd definitely go for your i5-6200U ; exchange the 5400 hdd for an SSD and this would fly.
Plug an ethernet adaptor into the usb 2 slot to fix the no-gigabit issue.
Any windows guru out there wish to comment on the veracity of HP's claim that 12GB RAM would make posted CPU+HDD system "Supercharged"?
I have my doubts.
An SSD would supercharge, but then the bottleneck simply moves somewhere else; hence my preference for the later i5.
