Elite in what way? It has a small SSD and only 4Gb of RAM. Is the CPU anything special? If it is a genuine reduction then have some heat :man:

For the £100 back the qualifying products says "745 G1 - M3N17ES" and this says it's a G2 - does anyone know if it is the same? Ebuyer don't give the product code?

Sorry, I meant for the further £100 for trading in a device mentioned in the initial post...
HP qualifying product states 745 G1 - M3N17ES
not 745 G2 - M3N17ES.
Is HP mistaken? Does this laptop qualify for trade-up cashback or not?

Hot for me.
It is a brand new Elitebook. Elitebook is good quality, HP highest series of business laptop, and charged at a high premium.
The CPU is not strong.
But with SSD, it is fast for any general use.
Good quality, lasting, premium business laptop, comes with SSD, at a price of budget consumer laptop.
Not to mention if you could get the £150 cashbook.
There were i5 Probook for the same price for quite few weeks. It increased to £330 now. But I believe Elitebook is higher than Probook.

only the M3N17ES matters, forget about everything else. I have previously claimed and traded at least 10 laptops within the last 10 months so know what I am saying, don't even give it a second though. I bought this machine earlier on to replace my other halfs probook as the 1 year warranty is running out. Sold the probook (bought £109 after cashback and trade up) for £270 and got this which will effectively be less than £150 to me plus 3 years warranty. Its a crazy price, you wont get it anywhere.

Every living soul is a business. Lol. They once quarried my business documents and I told them that I am a start up and buying these to give to other members of the team for apps/software development so can't provide them any document other than I am an unregistered new start up (you don't have to be registered in order to be a business). What could they do other than approve the cashback? And yes that is only one query in at least 10 claims. I have been buying for all family members and friends who need new laptops or want to replace theirs. Put your name on the company side when filling the form and you are good to go. Any uncertainty about filling form or whatever and give me a nudge

Bought this a few weeks ago and have just posted a £25 tablet (I just bought on amazon) to HP to claim my £100. It's a nice laptop, CPU is weak but personally I don't have a problem with that. Also upgraded it to 8gb RAM for about £13 (ebay).

And so you would go and pay more money to get an i5 with a crappy slow hdd, screen and build quality and wonder why your laptop is crap.
This laptop with its 10 year old cpu performance will give an average user a way way better experience than anything close to this price. (Unless you want to upgrade to an ssd yourself).
It is relatively light, (1.9kg, possibly less, the description is wrong) has a screen with pixel density of a full hd, an ssd in it and people vote cold on it because it doesn't have a fastest cpu on the block.
It is sad how many people judge pcs solely based on the cpu in them. (there is really no point in putting an i5 into a 300£ machine which is crappy in every other respect and yet that gets hot votes, while this which has a crappy cpu and great everything else takes 4 weeks to get hot...).
It is like comparing cars only based on the horsepower count they have and then someone starts selling a Fiesta with 300HP...)
Anyway I believe this is expired now, but I would have sure loved to know about it and because.

I've got one of these and for my usage and the fact it cost £150 is great, battery life however on mine is a poor 3 to 3.5 hours only, general build and screen top notch.

I bought one of these to use on-site at a client. It is fabulous VFM. paid £300 for it, have claimed the £50 cashback plus £100 for a trade-in. Spent an additional £29 on 8gb RAM and £39.99 for a 240gb SSD from Amazon. All in all, for £220 (370 less 150 in rewards) I have a 12gb, 240gb SSD elitebook with magnesium aluminium chassis and a true HD screen. It absolutely flies on Windows 10 with Office 2016 and is perfectly fine for movies, internet etc. Frankly it's a total bargain in my book, especially the long battery time and the instant boot-up. Fabulous machine save the lack of HDMI output.

Hello,
Can you post the links to RAM and HDD you purchsed, please? As a non-techie it will rule out any compatibility issues as these are already working in your laptop. I did purchase this laptop and agree with your comments about value for money (£150) if both cash-back options are availed and battery life of about 4-5 hours for day to day use.
Thanks for your time

I have my screen on full brightness with no power saver, working continuously and would say easily 4 hours. I think if I did power saver with 75% screen it would be 5+... I will say the screen is a matte type one that isn't overly bright - may not be for all but I find it wonderful to work with for long periods of time. It idn't an ultrabright glossy type screen you would get on your average 15.6 from PC World by example.

Well, the deal was posted over three weeks ago but due to the people only looking at the slow CPU didn't reach hot until now.
Those who did manage to get this in time and were able to avail of both the cashback and the trade-in basically got a top quality laptop built-up-to-a-qualty-and-spec for the price of one of those lowest quality Atom plastic laptops build-down-to-a-price. Yes, the CPU is slow and compares very poorly with even the other AMD ones in the other versions of this Elitebook (and this may explain why HP are keen to get rid of these, but I do question who at HP though it was ever going to be a good idea to save $20-$50 on a £500 Elitebook and opted for a single-module CPU).
But then quality seems to count for very little on HUKD...

Strange that the trade-in is on but the cashback not. Maybe I googled the wrong terms?
Ah no! Off the EliteBook 700 series, only the 725 is on Febuary's deal: 725 G1 - H9V84ES 01/02/2016 – 29/02/2016

To me these current Elitebooks are not the same as the Elitebooks of old, I would say they be equivalent to the affordable HP ProBooks of before - slightly better than the consumer line but no longer having that tank like build quality and top tier performance that you would expect of this line.
As a cheap business computer this model should be fine for office work but if you were expecting similar qualities comparable to like the older gen Elitebook 8460p and Elitebook 8570w then they have evolved to become the HP ZBook which as a package is leagues above this. I think it's pretty sad HP have water down the Elitebook range to what it is today and just cashing in on the name.

3 Feb 16#38
For £150 you can't go wrong. Only downfall for me is the 128GB SSD. Nowadays with the OS taking so much space it doesn't leave you with much. At the end of the day it all depends on what you are using it for.
blaablaa
3 Feb 161#39
The 128gb SSD is split into 15gb of HP recovery and tools across two partitions and 103GB as a main drive third partition. Win10, Office 2016 and a few programs leaves me with 53gb spare. I upgraded to a 240GB SSD just for extra comfort but the 128 is fine for office work, and it has SD slots and USB etc for extra storage of media.

Hi, the SSD was the crucial 240gb SSD that was 39.99 on Amazon recently. The 8gb RAM is the memory mentioned earlier in the other thread where this was available from Dabs. I can't remember where I bought it from but it is Kingston I believe and available anywhere. I have been using it for three weeks now and it is faultless.

How are you getting on with the battery life now? Over the weekend surfing on 50% brightness and Battery saver i only got 3 hours 15 min, on 70% brightness i only got 2 hours 30 min. After opening a claim with HP they are sending me a replacement battery, hopefully that fixes it.
Well I tend to get four hours without battery saver but I honestly couldn't be too sure because I have the charger in when it gets below 30%
john306
9 Feb 16#46
cheers, I'm disappointed though with it being a business laptop with a "long life" battery I thought it would have lasted ages, not struggled to get to 2.5 hours without battery saving and reasonable brightness, the new battery came today and that doesn't seem much better
