There are also many studies that also show that multivitamins DO help certain groups. I have Crohns Disease which means that due to my insides being screwed my body can't absorb enough nutrients from food alone, especially Vitamins D3, B12 and minerals Potassium, Magnesium and Calcium. I get severe muscle cramps.
A couple of multivitamin tablets per day make all the difference, so before you make sweeping comments, perhaps you actually think before you type.

Do people still buy these vitamins and mineral supplements! There are innumerable studies showing these are at best useless and in high doses positively dangerous.
The reporting of feeling better are more likely due to placebo than any benefit from the supplement.
I have worked in the health food business for nearly 30 years. They are a con. Spend your money on cutting out refined foods like sugar and white flour /rice. Eat wholegrain s fresh fruit and vegetables buy some organic produce now and again particularly fresh salads to avoid too many pesticide fertiliser residues replace meat with pulses and beans nuts a couple of times a week exercise regularly and sleep more than you do now. There is no short cut or pill to health.
I remember one vitamins and minerals rep telling me jokingly that Americans have the most expensive urine into he world due to all the vitamins and minerals they ecrete that the body cannot assimilate.

I've never heard such alarmist nonsense. Do you really imagine that manufacturers of vitamin D supplements and the multitude of retailers that sell them would leave themselves open to legal claims? Yet you won't find any such warning on bottles of VitD supplements. Honestly!

People forget one relaxes muscle (mag) one contracts muscle (Ca)
K is needed to utilise both

I'm am also looking for you to contribute to some expenditure I am looking to make. This expenditure might benefit you in the long run, but I can't offer a guarantee.

They can help people with absorption or similar issues. If you are anaemic the doctors put you on iron supplements. And believe me, you can feel that high does in your stomach. I have internal bleeding and my health improves when i take multivitamins as i tend to stop when it gets better and i get worse again.
You won't absorb everything so alot is peed out and u can tell from your bright yellow urine but you do absorb some.

This isn't always the case, depends on quality of diet etc. For example, studies have shown that taking vitamin d supplements in winter can be beneficial. Another supplement that is very powerful is vitamin K2, it is something that almost everyone lacks in their diet (except the Japanese who get it by eating a fermented soybean, one of the reasons that they have the highest life expectancy, despite smoking and drinking a lot and having a very high suicide rate.)

Probiotics can help but in capsule form they can be dead on arrival, depends which you use. I found pre-script assist to be the most effective probiotic in capsule form, but making your own fermented foods e.g. yogurt, kefir, kimchi, sauerkraut will provide the best benefit.
To beat bugs, introducing natural antiviral herbs and spices will help, I recommend Turmeric (very powerful when combined with black pepper), Cayenne Pepper, Chili powder and Oregano. I still get the colds but you hardly notice them, just a bit of a sore throat and a slightly runny nose. I add extra amounts to my food if I feel a cold coming, I have even found that Cayenne Pepper works very well with Broccoli and Stilton soup! Which was a surprise.
Final tip is to drink plenty of water, you knew that one already but it is always worth reinforcing! :-)

Actually, not necessarily as good value as it initially appears.
For example:
Holland & Barrett Cod Liver Oil Capsules 410mg x 60 - £1, but
So, you get 25% more strength Cod Liver Oil from ASDA for proportionately the same price - and ASDA's price is their standard price (which just goes to show how much of a peace take H&B's "normal" prices are!)
