Nothing wrong with Hisense TV's although sadly the name does sound like another cheapo Vestel special (which they aren't)

Cant find any reviews of tis specific model anywhere, do you have any links?

people usually wonder about input lag on Hisense and some of their latest firmware upgrades have supposedly reduced the high 100ms+ quite a bit. Only what i have read, cant find any actually evidence to prove it but owners certainly have noticed a fair sized improvement.

I got the 58" from richers just after Christmas and I'm completely blown away by the picture. It really is a pleasure seeing real black instead of murky grey. But the picture takes a bit of tweaking to get it just right. I would recommend turning all digital processing off, change the viewing mode to standard and the back light down to about 12. Then just play about with the brightness, contrast and colour to get the picture you feel most comfortable with. Oh yeah, and get some 4k stuff to demo it. YouTube is a good start but be careful as a lot of material described as 4k is really only 1080p.

Out of interest are you sure YouTube is actually playing in 4K?
I have the 50EC315 model and this won't support VP9 (needed for YouTube) until March, and it sounded like all UK Hisense TV's won't support this until later on. If you didn't know you can check the resolution by going to YouTube settings and scrolling to 'video info' and turn this on. Then when playing any clip it displays the resolution.

I have used the free app 4K downloader to grab some YouTube clips and they do playback very well, although the best examples are actual 4K clips from the likes of Sony and LG where the bit rate is around 100mbps. These look really stunning, where as the YouTube clips and several others are around 20mbps. It seems to make a huge difference depending on bit rate.

Just curious if you really are getting 4K from Youtube, if you get a chance to check for sure would appreciate knowing.

Can the feet be moved closer and if not any ideas for a decent stand? Cheers

i have this if its the K321 model , and i paid 420 from amazon.

Firstly the native youtube app is NOT 4K .The netflix app is 4k .Hooking up my pc to it for 4k youtube and games is a sight to behind. These guys use the same panels as samsung but with there own software on top and the picture in theatre mode (customised) is as good as anything this side of local dimming and nano cyrstal /oled sets.

I got this TV on the Amazon £399 deal before Xmas and am still really pleased with it. SD picture is okay, HD looks fab and 4K is absolutely stunning. The connectivity is great with 4xHDMI (2 of which have HDMI 2.0 & HDCP 2.2), 3xUSB (1 of which is USB3.0), etc., and the colour gamut and reproduction seem to be excellent straight out of the box with not too much tweaking required. Best to switch off all of the picture processing features.

I can also confirm that the Youtube app doesn't show 4K but that's no big deal. To test 4K I downloaded a few 4K demo videos onto a USB stick and played them through that, and was blown away by the display quality for a very inexpensive TV.

OK thanks for the replies richierea and pimpchez. I wasn't aware the YouTube app isn't native 4k. I read in a (german) review hat both YouTube and Netflix as are 4k and that each of the dedicated buttons link to the 4k versions. I'm waiting for the final part (cooler) of my htpc upgrade so I can get 4k output from it so hopefully it'll arrive soon.

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic, or if you're actually saying it's a lot, but 100ms+ is a very large amount of input lag.

Can you get cheap 5 year (or even 3 year) warranty on this?

It says 9ms on Argos website, but I wouldn't trust their details.

That's response time, input lag is different...

Response time is what it takes for the pixels to change. This is what causes 'ghosting'.

Input lag is the delay for the signal to reach the TV from the output source

Most TV's have pretty high input lag due to processing features that monitors don't have. 100ms is pretty common. My more expensiveSamsung is over 100ms, but goes down to ~26ms with 'game mode' on.

Not listed as the same model number but Hisense 50" from John Lewis. 5yr warranty and JL customer service worth the extra £50 IMHO.

Got the 40" version before xmas to go with a PC and the lag was very high, updated to the latest firmware and reduced massively but still noticeable. Not good enough for gaming but after changing to higher dpi mouse, increasing mouse speed and changing to Game mode it's fine for normal use. Another update soon I believe to help reduce even further.

I got this prior to Xmas and allowed the update to install as soon as I had set it up. I've noticed many people stating 4k Youtube, but every video (4k) I've tried on Youtube actually displays 720p, it you check the settings, not sure if this is just a bug, or if it actually is 720p, but it looks VERY sharp regardless, I would say better than 720p.

A few formats aren't supported (video, but haven't check what specifically, just that it is x265 and I think a couple 264, but I could be wrong)
Although when playing video files, the settings offer 3 options, only two work. The options are:

full screen
normal
original size

There is no change between either full screen / normal, resulting in a streched image, playing in original size results in a small picture in the centre of the screen, unless viewing 4k content.

The menu has become extremely slow lately, it wsa fine when it first arrived.

Haven't managed to find my desktop for sharing, but it must be something to do with settings on desktop I assume, as my laptop works.

The screen / free cast (what ever it's called) Has not worked once ( I have a Samsung Note 3).

The app store is an ABSOLUTE joke, I wouldn't bother, if this is what you are after, but despite the above, for this price, it is a VERY good screen.

I am expressing surprise and concern that a visual display can have as much as one tenth of a second delay (or lag) - you are correct, that is a very large amount of lag

But as I said, ~100ms is pretty normal for TV's. You won't notice it during normal use as the audio will be sync'd the same.

The problem arises when you try and use the TV for PC use where you clearly feel the delay in the mouse cursor moving (and notice audio out of sync if it's being fed to separate source). It immediately becomes hugely apparent and highly irritating.

If a firmware update adds a mode that disables the post processing features ('Game/PC Mode') like other TV's it should hopefully get the input lag down to ~40ms which would make it adequate as a gaming TV or monitor.

So yeah, my point is, it's input lag is completely normal for TV use. Even the £1,700 Samsung UE55JS9000 was measured at 139.1 ms with Game Mode off!

Some reviews reported that the December firmware update for the 321/315 reduced lag to 38ms. This is supposed to be perfectly acceptable except for 'professional' gamers.

I use mine with the Xbox One and have no issues at all. I believe this is actually the same spec TV and probably had the same update.

So in other words just buy it

You can get the 55 inch version of this TV on ebay for £430 which is cheaper than the 50 inch is in Argos.

Whats Hisense's rep like? Good as LGs? Only seen them in Asda, they look a bit scrappy...

Just because they're the 4th largest supplier doesn't mean they're any good. Saying that my budget for a TV has been slashed so may go for one soon, can it play HDR?
