Quantic Dream has a reputation for making games that don’t just define genres… but recreate them.
Fans now expect the award-winning studio to offer them something different to play; a new experience they can’t find anywhere else.
And for David Cage and his team, it’s all about giving players something to think about… provoking reactions and stirring emotions not usually expected from video games.

Heavy Rain and BEYOND: Two Souls are two standout titles that give players the power of choice. How these stories branch and end is totally up to the decisions they make and the actions they perform.
Hugely popular on PlayStation 3, they have now been visually upgraded and brought together for fans to relive, and newcomers to enjoy for the first time.

Decisions decisions. I've got both collecting dust somewhere for PS3 - never played them. Have recently upgraded to PS4 but still have the PS3 as the kids love loads of their games on it.

Does anyone know if these are visually etc much better on the PS4? If so for the sake of £26 I'd rather play them on the latest gen..

Is this really necessary? He just want's to replay the classics on current gen consoles. If he's sold his PS3 off, He wouldn't go out and spend £80 to get a used console when he can just spend £25 and get this. On the other hand, Sony should have made the PS4 BC, That'll stop all this bickering over remasters.

What are you on about? There is no problem, people interested in this shows there is a benefit to these (exclusive) remakes. Nintendo do this as well. It's even more useful on ps4 as ps3 games are not backward compatible.

Just don't buy it if you don't want it and be happy people are given more choice. Maybe one day you'll want to pick these up again if you liked them on ps3, I expect I will (and have done with uncharted)!
darkspace100
11 Jan 16 #144
Well thats your problem then not ours. Should have played them as you had more than enough time considering how long last gen was. If not you can go buy these 360/PS3 games for cheap now on ebay etc instead of buying them full price on current gen. If you want to live in the past then stay in the past. Don't drag the past into the present ruining gaming for the rest of us who want new experiences.

Funny thing is even after buying Beyond digital for the same price you are still expected to pay for Heavy Rain with a discount but who knows how much that discount will be. Its things like this you buy physical though i'm not sure why anyone would buy one and done games like Beyond digital as theres no replay value after you know the story.

Absolutely. Heavy rain was pretentious and poor the first time around, it's story is quite appalling. The branching gives the impression of choice but is is only to mask the games many limitations. It was a bold attempt to try something new and for that it has to be commended. I did like beyond, even though it was too long. Maybe the extra power of the ps4 can make heavy rain run better, but a remaster won't be a rewrite. Garbage in garbage out.
Bring on red dead. Not the PS3 version but the 360 version that was visually way about the PS3. What about la Noire?

Can't stand these games, don't know, not my mind at all, bought heavy rain, gave it back, it's like a interactive movie play, pressing buttons along way to get to a different outcome etc. Waste of money for me however it's a personal thing, heavy gamer but can't stand games for some reason, too slow for me. so definately recommend people watching YouTube walkthrough before buying. I'm going to consider it a new game when I play it as it's been built from the ground up and there's enough new stuff to warrant playing it, however it is definitely a remaster. A lot of the same levels appear and the story is the same apart from being tweaked to fit in with the movie.

8 Jan 16 4 #93
You seem butthurt for some reason?

Nobody asked for remasters of everything. PS1 games have been remastered in the past and are still being remastered to this day. See Resident Evil, Final Fantasy 7, 8 &9, Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes. Old console games are available on a plethora of devices nowadays, so if you have missed out on them they should be easily available.

Uncharted and TLOU were fantastic games missed by many, it was great getting to experience them using the superior DS4 controller and at 1080p 60fps.

I suspect your hurt stems from my negative comments on the Xbox though.

Let the hurt flow through you and enjoy being added to the "ignore" list with the rest of the cretins.

Heavy Rain is great, what makes it is the fact if one of the character dies they are dead and the game continues on. Play it on hard and makes a really involving game. Finished it in two days as I couldn't put it down.

Beyond two souls on the other hand is rubbish. Boring story and a chore to finish. Choices mean nothing to gameplay. Hope Quantic Dream's next game is more like heavy rain.

8 Jan 16 #84
Nice, more insults coming from someone that gets basic words jumbled up. People in glass houses and all that rubbish. If you're gonna call people idiots, morons etc, then at least make sure you get the basics correct yourself.

I've not been proven wrong on anything. If i have, then please point out where. From someone who requested at least a list of 5 or 7 games, then got given a lot more games named than he originally asked for? I think you're now getting confused such is your desire to brown nose other posters within this thread. As with the other dullard, I'll leave you to get on with patting yourself on the back.

Played Heavy Rain and loved it, would enjoy it a second time around with even better graphics. swapped my ps3 for a 360 before beyond two souls came out so will definitely have this in my collection.

No point in hating on the remasters, most developers use a different company to work on the remaster port so it's not like we're missing out on what could have been an original ps4 title, it just means we get a bigger choice of games at the end of the day.
SFP_NooDLe
8 Jan 16 #81
Ah, proven wrong so chooses to attack a single spelling error rather than my argument. I wasn't aware I was writing a dissertation for a university project. "Ratchet and Clank is a new game that takes elements from the original," says the game's production director Shaun McCabe. "What we imagined when we started was a curated first Ratchet experience."

Who are you trying to fool? All you need to do is go on to the PSN store to see the flood of remasters and indies on PS4 for yourself. I check the store updates weekly and when there isn't a remaster releasing its a bunch of indie shovelware to give the illusion of content. Don't take me for a fool. This gen is basically a food of indies and remasters with a dripfeed of mediocre AAA games and with nothing worthwhile exclusive wise on PS4 other than Bloodbourne.
Kiyoshi
8 Jan 16 #74
I know they're not available on PS4 until this, however you'd think either the box art and/or the description would make some mention of the word 'remastered' for the un-informed so they don't assume it's just 2 PS3 games bundled on a single PS4 disc, but fair enough.
darkspace100
8 Jan 16 1 #73
YOU may have skipped it but the rest of us didn't. How do you think we feel buying it on PS3 only to see a much a improved version? If only these companies had the decency to tell us they were planning on remasters and wanted us to double dip so we could avoid the inferior last gen versions. I felt robbed buying GTA V on last gen as i wanted to experience it at the very best quality yet people who didn't support them last gen get the best versions is complete BS.

95% of games are remasters or Indies?....wait I'm thinking....bear with me...nope, can't do it. I can't comprehend how someone can come out with a statement so stupid and expect people to take him seriously

You and Dr_Bawbag should just retire from gaming. I still haven't caught up on Bloodborne, Until Dawn, The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Just Cause 3, Star Wars Battlefront, Assassins Creed Black Flag/Unity/Syndicate, Watch Dogs and a whole lot more I can't think of.

That's not even including the ridiculous 2016 line-up with Street Fighter V, Ratchet and Clank, Alienation, No Man's Sky and Uncharted 4 all before the summer. That list contains games released from 2014 onwards and NONE are remasters. There's even a good few new IPs in there.

So yes, please just retire from gaming if "95% of games on PS4 are remasters." God I still can't get over how stupid that statement is

Well, no - you see, the parameters are exactly the same as what they were when I asked you the very first time.

Provide a list (or even the number will do) of all the games available, and then provide a list (or the number) of those which are remakes or remasters. All we need to find is a proportion between the two. And then we can see whether we're "swamped" like you claimed or if you "could list the amount of true current gen only games on one hand" as darkspace100 claims.

Let me give you an advance preview of the answer: You are talking absolute rubbish (and I think you know it, too).

Dr_Bawbag
8 Jan 16 #62
I've provided you with a list, but based on what you've said to others, I feel no amount of lists and games is gonna suffice, so not going to waste any more time on you. You either read the list or keep shifting the goal posts asking for yet more games to be listed, it matters not.
jimferno
8 Jan 16 5 #42
The reason for all the "remastered" last gen Sony exclusives are because there is a shed load of gamers who passed on the PS3, choosing the 360 instead, and now they've made the move to the PS4.

Microsoft have only added backwards compatibility recently because the Xbox One is failing hard. It'seems hard to believe that a company that got it so right with the 360, bar the hardware faults, could get it so wrong this time around.

Edit: Never played an Uncharted or TLOU and absolutely loved the remasters.
darkspace100 to jimferno

I have no issues with remastered games on the whole. What I do have issue with is the 30 fps sub par so called 'definitive edition'. The Last of Us on PS4 is a shining example - that was fantastic on PS4, especially as I never played it on PS3.

Are we talking 'original' as in "wow, not seen that before" or "I might give Uncharted 4 a spin, because it wasn't available on the PS3" originality? Really need to know if we're talking proper originality here or sequels, prequels, spin offs etc.

You mean Assassin's Creed which, er, isn't a remaster? Are you moaning about remasters or annual AAA iterations? Make your mind up, because neither of them change the point.

FIFA has been releasing annually for generation upon generation but were you moaning about that then too?
Dr_Bawbag
8 Jan 16 1 #41
Of course ND are going to say that. They're the ones that are wanting the game to sell. It's a kin to asking a tobacco company if cigs are as bad for you as the medical experts say they are or asking an energy company why their prices remain high, whilst the cost of oil has plummeted. Who did they actually research? 100 people on their own website? Always with the nicely rounded percentages.

It wouldn't be any sort of business at all if they didn't attempt to justify their decisions in a positive light.

Only two years in and we have:

BL2
BL TPS
Uncharted
Dishonored
Tomb Raider
Dark Souls
Prototype
TLOU

and so on ... Can't remember this happening with any other gen.

Thank you, goodnight.

Strawman much? "Swamped with umpteen dozen cash grabs"? Since you're putting forward that argument, the onus is on you to prove it. Please provide a list of all games released this generation, and show me the proportion of them which are remakes/remasters.

Meanwhile, everyone else can carry on playing the many original titles which have been released and which form the clear majority of games that are actually available.

Wipe the froth from your mouth, realise that you are in complete control of which games you do and don't buy (ever heard of "let the market decide"?) and you can do the same too!

I apologise my figure was incorrect it was 80%.
Conducted from Naughty Dogs own research.

Apology accepted :-)

8 Jan 16 1 #37
I'd like to see where you pulled that 70% figure from. Or is this just another internet randomly generated percentage that we all love to do? I mean, why 70% and not 67%?

wow this is a really good deal, it cost me this a few weeks ago just to get beyond....wish i had just waited now

I got beyond two souls for a tenner off Canada store so proabley will work out a bit cheaper for digital kind of getting in to having digital games. It's good when you can't be arsed to get off your fat ass to change the disk in PlayStation.think they should being out a 5 game changing ps4 that would kick ass :-)
Dr_Bawbag

What you're exhibiting is every devs/publisher's wet dream. Ok, so you're happy for the market to be swamped with umpteen dozen cash grabs, not everyone will see it from your pov, though. It's not as if some AAA devs don't make millions upon millions of profit from their expensive endeavors. Your defensive stance in the face of adversity, whilst defending these poor devs, is enough to bring a tear to a glass eye.
schnide
8 Jan 16 2 #32
Utter rubbish. Remasters are a quick, relatively cheap way to exploit old IP. But new ideas are still coming out - it's no surprise that big publishers want to rely on safe AAA titles when games are so expensive to make now, but they still sometimes take risks and indies are picking up the slack when it comes to originality. You might as well say there are no decent movies made any more simply because Hollywood pumps out Transformers every few years.

I mean, you can say it - but that doesn't make it true. What you're exhibiting is selective perception bias.

Damn I was about to post this last night.....until I saw the last time someone posted a Beyond Two Souls PS4 remaster and it garnered -100. Not that I'm suggesting anyone on here is fickle, at all......

If it is for PS4, it is the Remastered versions. No other version for these games exist on the PS4.

I've got both of these on PS3 and not looked at either. Seen the Beyond PS4 trailer and the graphics are excellent.
Great price for both but is it worth buying if I have both on PS3 already?

That is one butt ugly cover. Should have just had Heavy Rain as one game instead of a collection. Beyond was awful anyway.

8 Jan 16 #17
Enjoyed both of these on ps3, beyond had better visuals, acting and general wow factor, but probably less impressive in the other departments compared to heavy rain.

Both worth playing for sure

Heavy Rain is an exceptional game...Beyond Two Souls slightly disappointing but overall not bad! If you've not played either highly suggest you do.

awesome game, the move control was really good on it though, is it compatible ? You'd need a new camera if it was anyways wouldn't you ?

Its not like the games looked bad on last gen, is this really necessary?...

Fine it buy it!!! :P

i wonder if both games will be on one disc

Got Platinum on Heavy Rain, its one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had.

We all shared the game here in the office and we all had different endings and game experiences, fantastic.

Played Heavy Rain on PS3 and loved it, held off on Two Souls due to polarising opinions. Would love to play it again and hearing you can play Beyond in chronological order makes it a better game
