General
The new guitar is so much better. Feels more natural. Star power can be activated the old way or via a push button near your strumming hand palm.
Surround sound is epic.
Very easy game to use
Single player
-Unreasonably short
+audience real-time reaction is awesome
+interesting experience
Multiplayer
You can get a perfect score but still not come first due to someone elses bonuses, even if they missed notes and you don't, due to them purchasing a multiplier for that song turn.
-Pay-to-win; bonuses costs earnt coins.
-Most of the music is naff
-You play from a random playlist.
-If you want to directly play a song it will cost earnt coins, per play, you can't actually buy the song.
+two channels, rock and rock/pop
+non stop 24hr streaming
+at least 5 new songs added each week I've been playing
+options can be entered at anytime
The whole service is a trade off, they get money for advertising and gh token sales. You get free song updates on a regular basis. Just to make it clear it is free to play a lot of content. Paying with cash just speeds things up.
I think ghtv will carry across versions. And the purpose of the whole game was for introducing the new multiplayer.

Got this deal in November, it's a great game but not a fan of having to earn 'free plays' of songs. Had to spend £7.99 to buy 'plays' just to have the option of playing a song that I liked instead of having to play whatever was on the in game music channels. The guitar itself is well made and the new Live mode is pretty cool.

I was a huge fan of the original, would 95%+ everything on expert.. can't get on with the new guitar at all, my brain just won't play ball even on easy.. had it since Xmas day, but it'll be traded in at the weekend. Wouldn't recommend it if you're buying because you loved the original. give it a try if you've never played before though.

ah man! had this for christmas and wanted a second guitar. I managed to get the Wii U version for 49.99 but it worked out cheaper than the standalone guitar.
Oh well, should have waited :/

Heaps of stock in the Falkirk store - almost picked one up but then the memories of unused Guitar Hero/Rock Band plastic instruments laying around burst the bubble.

Great game, much harder than the original. Well worth the cash.
