Well I can tell you now I think you are very brave! Anyone who posts a sat nav on here starts up all the "why would anyone want a separate sat nav when my phone does everything!!!" Etc etc

I agree, I just felt I haven't contributed much all these years whilst I have enjoyed saving lots of money from other folks posts. For this particular model it is the cheapest price right now anywhere I can find so I was kind of thinking thats what this site is about.

For the motorways and towns I loved my Garmin Nuvi, but the minute I had to go somewhere in the countryside my nuvi always took me down the narrowest roads, sometimes they weren't even roads! Hence after years of having 'words' with mine I swapped to Tom Tom and it's been much better

Had one of these but had to pay for traffic info. This should be a basic feature these days, lovely screen though

Argos had this model but with the additional European mapping at 69.99. Bought one for the father and he is pleased with it, not been used in anger yet though.
Compared to d prices else its a decent deal but yes...like veralum said...if u have google maps..any smart phone then perhaps u wouldn't need a satty

I've mine in the car on a vent bracket, so its more discrete than the stick on window jobs. Also, quite subtley wire through to a 12v socket in my central console, so its got power all the time.
Dont think i'd be bothered dash mounting my phone each time and scrolling it through to the right app, firing it up, etc, but each to their own - and in fairness i use mine a lot.

I've had Garmins for 10-15 years now and upgrade them every couple of years.
This is a great deal for the latest model - i just bought a 55LM (after upgrading from my 52LM) before christmas, from Halfords for £69, although it had Europe Maps too, which i really needed.
Its worth noting, for anyone who has a Garmin, its cheaper to upgrade to the newest model and flog your old one on ebay or to CEX, than pay for an "official" upgrade to your older one.

I have this and randomly keeps turning itself off, very annoying.

Are you using the genuine charger that came with it? I ask because my 55 has been perfect this past couple of weeks since i bought it and i'm on hols using it on a cheapie charger and even though the charger charges it, the unit randomly knocks itself off. Will know more when i get home and stick it on the genuine charger again.

I have mine nicely automated, NFC sticker attached to my car mount means it automatically launches the app and asks me where I'm going when I mount it.
That said I can see the appeal of a dedicated satnav for some people and I know my Dad is in the market for one so this may do nicely for him

Yes I am, only had it for a few weeks but replaced it today and went back with TomTom, lucky I have my instant replacement with Currys, happy days, hope yours sorts itself out, decent satnav when it works.

If you want a very bare bones satnav it will do. I have the 25xx series with traffic, route planning, multi touch glass screen, high res, UK and EU mapping and bluetooth for £100.
