The Coen Brothers' Best Picture Oscar nominee transforms into the season's most talked about TV debut. Fargo features a new true crime story and new characters...all chilled in the trademark dry wit, murderous mayhem and Minnesota nice of the original classic film. Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton stars as Lorne Malvo, a anipulative master criminal who changes the life of insurance salesman Lester Nygaard (Martin Freeman). Gus Grimly (Colin Hanks) and Molly Solverson (Allison Tolman) are the small-town police officers who join forces to uncover Lester's secrets and stop the relentlessly destructive Malvo.

Season 1 - Are they really making a series based on the film? Wow, this is gripping and enjoyed it more than the film; well there is a lot more of it to enjoy.
Season 2 - This is a surprise can they really pull it off again? No. Too derivative and just doesn't have the same quality of writing and actors. Billy Bob was a very tough act to follow admittedly.

Has been on TV and was really (really really) good.
The second season was even better in my opinion.

Season 1 was amazing and the second one was also in it's own right but somewhat uncomparable to the first one considering it was a bit too different.
Anyway, seen it all in HD so going back to SD would be a bit 'eh'. Get the Blu-ray version if you can.

One of the best things on TV. Shame it's not bluray.
Season 2 was about a family war which was surprisingly a fantastic ride to watch all the way through so comparing it to Season 1 doesn't really stand a chance. Like comparing apples to oranges.
Season 1's about a hired killer to take out people while Season 2's a family business vs city company.
Btw, loved Mike Milligan's character. So sophisticated yet in the crime business. lol

More like comparing two Apples with one being sweet and the other tart.
Don't really care how different the stories are as that wasn't the issue. Just felt one gelled and the other didn't but of course that's purely a subjective call. Some will prefer series 2.

watched both seasons. S1 I felt was better but again, both storylines were completely different. Billy Bob and Martin Freeman made it for me. fantastic performances.

Brilliant TV. Can't get enough of the accent. I think the 2nd series started slightly slower, but it soon picked up pace.
