Hope this helps someone. They retail at £30 and make a huge difference to the cost of a family journey. I've bought one just to use on one trip - brought the price down from £218 to £132 and cost me no more than £15 of Clubcard vouchers. Very pleased.
The blurb:
Taking the family out for the day can be pricey enough as it is. Why make it even more so by paying full travel fares across the board? With a Family & Friends Railcard, you needn't give it a second thought. This card allows you to save a third on your travel and 60% off your kids’ travel, so long as you're travelling with kids aged between 5 and 15 years.
For frequent rail users who can't leave the kids at home, a Family & Friends Railcard could be just what you need. And we're here to help you pick one up more cheaply. Simply exchange £15 in Clubcard vouchers and you'll get a year's Friends and Family Railcard in return. Think of it as our way of helping you on your journey.

I'm afraid not:
• You must travel with at least 1 child aged 5-15yrs when using your Family and Friends railcard.
• To qualify for a Family & Friends Railcard, your group must contain at least one named Railcard holder and at least one child aged between 5 and 15 years. The maximum group size is up to four adults (aged 16 years and over) including the named cardholder(s), and four children (aged 5-15 years).

Was it a family one? I think we got one for £20 last year and I thought that a bargain.
I'm hoping they have it again soon. It came in handy during the summer :sunglasses:

I get mine every year when they offer the £10 off promotion when you trial the railcard for a month, so get it for £20. With me and my son travelling, it saves me loads, well worth the money.

They have £20 off the 3 year F&F card, so it is now £70, but looks like you cannot use Tesco points for this.
Hopefully they will have a good deal soon on the F&F card as I think the £15 in points is the standard cost, still worth getting the card if you are travelling soon with a child, I always check the cost with/without F&F card, I have done London trips with my son where I have saved more than the cost for the card at £30, so pays for itself on the first trip.

It's also worth bearing in mind that if you have a child who is close to turning 16, as long as you buy the Family & Friends railcard before their 16th birthday they travel as a child for the validity of the railcard (or until their 17th birthday if you buy a 3 year card). This means you get 60% off the child fare for them rather than 33% off the adult fare

If you live in the South East, don't forget you can get a Network Railcard, which can be used for a single adult but also accompanying adults and children. I appreciate not relevant in terms of clubcard points but often people aren't aware.

Thank you - looks a better deal than the f&f card for me as can use with or without children & seems to be the same discount - thank you

Railcards can be good money-savers, but you'll be paying half of the full price in Tesco vouchers. Better to buy the railcard at a discounted price for cash and use your Tesco vouchers to buy rail tickets at half price through Red Spotted Hanky.

It depends. The Network railcard only gives you discount in a defined area. The F&F railcard gives you the discount nationally.

The network railcard also has a minimum adult fare of £13 on weekdays (but no minimum at weekends). That can make it less useful than the F&F card too.

You get a third off adult fares as well, for max 4 adults, so if 2 adults were travelling on a fare of £30 each, they would only pay £20 each. This is national also, whereas the deal you say Is just South Eastern.

For anyone who does not have the Tesco points or would rather not use them, there is an offer on until 17/01/16 for 15% off, so the £30 1 year cost is now £25.50, code is SAVE15.
