this is a lovely little gadget to boost ones indoor/outdoor security. its a fake CCTV which has a battery inside to power a constant blinking red led light . according to reviews it is extremely authentic and the same appearance as authentic cctv cameras .im putting mine in my garden just as a deterrent as if i was a burglar and noticed one of these flashing away i would definately be skipping that house/garden.
to get this price click on other available amazon sellers and CAMERAKING has them at £4.85 delivered . there are some a few pence cheaper but cameraking had a much better 96%positive feedback

I purchased 3 of these units but in silver while they were around the £2 mark around 6 months ago and to be fair they look very good and believeable i only purchased to put the kids off from hitting the car with the football etc but that said in the summer a neighbour in the street had there mobile stolen from there window sill and the police knocked my house and asked to look at the camera footage to see if it shows who might of taken it so if a police officer believed they were real then i'm pretty sure someone on the rob would not want to take the risk

Or for an alternative solution, you could always buy fake valuables e.g. fake iPad, fake TV etc so that when the burglar takes them, joke's on them.

And if he tried to attack you while you're in bed etc. I guess you could have one of those blow up dolls (unless you already have one).

been selling CCTV for many years, I have never come across a single external camera that has a flashing led, the flashing led would be in fact detrimental to the video footage. The only fake external camera I have seen have faint glowing ring of LEDs to simulate the IR on real camera.

the people saying they have flashing LEDs, will all be internal ip cams, mainly the ptz ones or baby cams.

Nope. It tells them you are serious about security. I have proper cameras up, high security bump and snap proof locks, alarms etc... but I probably don't have anything more valuable than any of my neighbours. A burglar will be able to tell if you have significantly more than your neighbours simply by looking through your windows to be honest.

How gutted would you be when you scrimped on security and your car got stolen, or home broken into, and never had any footage of the incident which could potentially help to nail the culprit? I had CCTV for years, initially had analogue, but upgraded to this IP camera recently: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272073110525
Can't fault it in any way, and if anyone suggests FOSCAM, I would advise not listening to them, been there done that, been burned lol.

From reading this posting it seems to me that there a many various types of real cameras with different functions. It also seems there are many various types of (expert) opinions, with several different views. I just wonder if the manufacturer thought of doing a bit of research before developing and producing this camera, or did he just 'busk it' and hope for the best!

True most real cameras don't have the flashing thing, I have few real cameras in properties where it matters , however I have also loads of these fake ones as they take only few minutes to install and have no up-keep to do.
In all the places where I had petty theft going on it reduced by 99% after installing even the fake ones!

I agree that the light is counter productive on this product. Best leave the battery out if your going to buy it. Security Burglar Alarm system boxes have flashing lights, can't think of a camera I have seen generally having a flashing light.

For under a fiver delivered it is useful. Also given the batteries would need regular replacing thats going to be a pain for replacing as you won't these things to be installed at a decent height.

30 Dec 15 1 #47
my facts are in black and white on amazon ... literally hundreds of people have purchased this saying how real and authentic it looks . there are posters on here that say the red light makes it look fake and others say their cameras have a flashing light . can you categorically say that ALL cctv cameras that have a flahing light are fake . the answer will be a big NO .
There are thousands of different security cameras on the market , some with and alot without a flashing red light but im pretty sure the burglar will have a similar view and would rather NOT enter a property with one of these fitted and go for one without any security .

May dissuade the local chavs who think they're criminal masterminds, but I imagine a professional would be able to spot these fakes from a mile away. Then again, if your house is a target for the professional criminal you probably have invested in 'proper' security anyway.

sounds like security is your business and obviously you want people to buy expensive security systems .
if anyone was to ask their local police iabout installing one of these , they would say its better than not having anything . i know it offers no actual protection but it gives the home owner a visual deterrent to a potential thief
topss
30 Dec 15 #31
The flashing light is a give away that it's a dummy. Saying that, it's a cheap way to add a few of these to a property that already has a working CCTV system. Place them in areas that are not directly covered by the real thing. Any deterrent is always a good thing. Probably best to take the battery out though.
cadmus
30 Dec 15 #30
£4.85 is hardly false economy .... its a very cheap visual deterrent that is better than NOTHING . if you was a burglar which house would you burgle .. the one without the camera wouldnt you. the burglar is hardly going to give it a close up inspection to check if its fake or not and as a previous poster said even his local police thought theirs was a genuine camera as they needed some footage of a crime their camera could of picked up.
