Savage Goliath Monster Skin
Access to 4th Monster (when available)
In a savage world of man vs nature, are you the hunter or the hunted?
The creators of Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios, bring you Evolve, the next-generation of multiplayer shooters where four hunters face-off against a single, player-controlled monster.
Stalk your prey, execute your attack and prove you are the apex predator in adrenaline-pumping 4V1 matches.
4V1 – Grab three friends and hunt the monster or stalk the humans as the evolving beast. Whichever side you choose, you will have access to powerful weapons and abilities that deliver balanced, competitive gameplay.
Hunt Together or Die Alone – Choose a hunter that fits your play style. Whether you play as the Trapper, Support, Assault, or Medic, every role is vital and teamwork is key in surviving an encounter with the monster
Beast of Prey – As the monster – the lone predator – you are the boss battle. Use savage abilities and an animalistic sense to wreak havoc, kill the humans and prove you are the dominant species.
Savage Planet - Neither flora nor fauna are friendly on planet Shear. Fall victim to natural hazards or use them strategically against your prey.
Character Customisation – Level up to unlock new upgrades, skins and perks for your favourite class: hunter or monster. Earn your infamy on the leaderboards and become the apex predator.

I believe there were balancing issues and the pure myopic greed of the DLC plan annoyed loads of people, killed launch sales, so not enough user base to hit critical mass.

Nope, includes the first monster and the base game. No clue what the first monster released was mind. But it doesn't include everything the monster race edition has.

Does this still have a user base?

After trying the free weekend on steam earlier last year, I'd say the player base is extremely small. Matchmaking times were also pretty bad, the majority of the time waiting up to 10-15minutes to get a match going. From what Ive seen, there is less than 1000 players the majority of the time (right now there is ~600). Keeping in mind that this is a global number, not impressive in the slightest.

As someone who bought it last week and played a fair bit. All depends. The ranked games (whatever they're called) are a bit of a PITA to find. Usually around a 15 minute wait unless you play as the monster. Normal games though if you just play the quick match are a not normally longer than a minute during peak times, 5 minutes or so as it gets into early morning though :stuck_out_tongue:

I'm a little confused about the contents. Is this the same as Evolve PC Monster Race on Steam?

If you played the beta, you pretty much played the whole game. The game released with very little content and a ridiculous DLC strategy. If you're going to release a multiplayer only game with minimal day one content, don't charge full price and then have the gall to ask for more in DLC. The PC multiplayer FPS genre is a very competitive market, and Evolve had no compelling reason to keep people coming back. The gameplay is VERY repetitive after a while because there's only a very narrow set of strategies.

And of course the same thing is happening with star wars Battlefront... only the good shooters survive on pc.

This game would have been a bettersuccess if they would have followed the l4d model which is pretty much the model that works for games of this nature. However they decided to be idiots and charge for monster packs, weapon packs and other sort of packs which were essential to the game. I am so sick of gaming generally and honestly after spending tens of thousands of pounds on games on all platforms I cannot help but feel these companies are taking us as idiots. I used to think buying multiplayer games initially was a good idea till i got sucked into it. Now I have a strictly test before you buy policy. Even then on the pc the humble bundles and sales have just watered down the whole point of buying pc games. However I do when it's deserved, but this definitely does NOT deserve a purchase.

Wtf happened? Played beta and it was great.. was really excited for this game but it bombed hard? They're making a sequel too IIRC.

This looked to be a great game until it was released and largely abandoned by the user base, which is not a good thing for a multiplayer game. You might get some more immediate matches if servers exist on Tunngle.
