Internals are made by Superflower, but EVGA give it a 10 year warranty. These G2 units are designed to work with the Intel Haswell CPU's on overclocking motherboards (my board is the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming, on which I got £20 cashback AND a free Cerberus headset). I have the i5-6600K (thanks DABS at just £189.99), Thermaltake NiC C5 CPU Cooler (£53.99 again from Amazon) and a set of Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) 2666MHz DDR4 (£76.52 from Amazon).
I am upgrading 2 machines at home (this one is my gaming machine) and had already ordered the 650W G2 version from Amazon for my other (work) machine at £74.99 (OOS too)

Good power supply, good price. I paid around £100 a few months back for mine.
My only issue is for the price the included cables could be better. They're bundled quite thickly, at this price point I would have liked flat cables. You can however purchase a braided cable set, cablemod set from overclockers for £65 or the official EVGA cables from Scan for the same price.

If you're going with a single card then the Evga 650 G2 is a better valued power supply. It's £67.98 at CCL right now.

I agree, for most people 750W is overkill. You will only need something this powerful if you're running SLI or Crossfire, or a mountain of mechanical drives.

Mine came with UK Mail. I got no communications from them at all, it simply turned up a couple of days after I ordered. No Signature required, no tracking (with the free delivery option).

EVGA warranty is only 3 years if it's not one of their authorized sellers and I don't see Argos listed on the EVGA site list.
The 10 year warranty is a big thing here, so losing it is huge.

If this is true (and it seems it is) then Argos really need to stop advertising the 10 year manufacturer's warranty. I think that's a massively unfair clause from EVGA- I can't see a logical justification for this other than as a way of getting out of warranty claims.

Got the same PSU runs HD 7990 (GPU HD7970 x 2 ) with no problems + X99 Mainboard + Intel i7-5920K
I think Im reaching 650 - 700 W load on this PSU
And it is holding the power well
GPU up to 400W + CPU 150W + Mainboard 100W + SSD 2-5W = everything on max load = 655 W
If I will be buying now I will adding 850W or 1000W for the dual GPU but for single GPU 750W is more than you need Im running dual GPU and it is OK

I spoke to someone there and they said that the warranty is 3 years if used 'out of territory'. Buy a UK one and use it in France, and the French arm will only give you 3 years warranty. The ones for the UK have a round Union Jack sticker on the box and they can also tell from the serial number. Just keep proof of purchase and the box and you are good to go.

Argos stock these?! No way.
I actually ordered this from Novatech a couple months ago, couldn't get a functional system and was having massive trouble figuring out why.
Rebuilt the rig to do more troubleshooting 2 weeks ago and the power supply wouldn't turn on but would make a very loudy ticky noise.
Obviously this is renowned as one of the best power supplies available but I got unlucky lol, got an RMA number and I'll call Novatech to come pick it up next week

Sorry if I'm being patronising, but did you notice that isn't a 0 origin graph? The difference after a few hundred Watts is only about 4%.
What I found interesting is the poor efficiency at very low wattage, makes me wonder about our PSU now given we've got a Gold PSU but a very efficient system!

would still purchase, but got a g2 550w that would not spin with eco off using the test tool EVGA said i had a faulty unit , and basically killed my old system, no way was it going into my new build , waiting RMA

I didn't but that suggests using such a power supply at silly low loads the efficiency is very bad. It just would not get used in this area of operation (hopefully).

It has taught me a lesson not to go too over-the-top when purchasing PSUs. I think we've got a 550W but I've never measured more than about 220W at the mains plug in use and its only 100 to 150 in normal use. I'd never considered low load efficiency before. Xxx

Just fitted it. With Eco mode off the fan spins. Quite slowly and very quiet. With Eco on, the fan is off. What is supposed to happen (I have not read the manual, who does?)

Just put the mains lead in, attached both plugs of the motherboard cable to the modular sockets, plugged the tool into the mb end. No other devices or leads attached. I am assuming that the tool has some resistors in that simulate a current drain greater than the motherboard standby. If it is meant to simulate a mobo standby current drain, then maybe it isn't doing its job, by simulating too much drain? If this is the case, then only fitting it and getting it all working and then putting the system into standby would show this.

That is what I imagined that the tool would do, simulate a mobo current draw sufficient to trigger the fan (ie above mobo standby mode), but not sufficient to trigger the fan in eco mode.

Well certainly not good, I wondered if it was peculiar to this psu so I went searching for comparisons. Decided to see how well my Corsair faired.....
Seems all suffer to some degree unless you spend a fortune on the top two. However from a actual reading point of view not as bad as first thought.

I know that powered at the mains but otherwise off (ready for a Wake-On-LAN to play steam games on it remotely) the entire desk (speakers, screen, printer, computer, etc) uses between 4W and 8W, which isn't tooooo bad, so I can leave it ready if I think I'm not going to sleep or if I've a gaming session booked with another insomniac that evening -- the PC is so quiet it doesn't wake my partner when it comes on or during games (unless I've forgotten to turn the screen off, doh.) :smiley:

Great PSU.I swapped my coolmaster GX750 for one of these.The old psu was getting hot running Fallout 4 and the fan was annoying me.This new supply hardly makes a noise even after a couple of hours of extreme gaming.I bought mine a few weeks back.

Absolute superb power supply, top build quality although ridiculously over packaged. I mean it even comes with a little pouch for unused cables.
This thing runs cool and quiet even when my machine is at full load.
