Everybody’s Gone to the Rapture tells the story of the inhabitants of a remote English valley who are caught up in world-shattering events beyond their control or understanding. Made by The Chinese Room -- the studio responsible for the hauntingly beautiful Dear Esther -- this tale of how people respond in the face of grave adversity is a non-linear, open-world experience that pushes innovative interactive storytelling to the next level. This story begins with the end of the world.

Much more likely that a person picking fault in other people on a website comments section is leading a sad life.

Worth £6.79 of anybody's money. One of the best looking, best sounding, wonderfully acted, superbly written, most emotionally charged experiences I've had the pleasure of playing in a long time. Certainly not for everyone, granted (the COD generation wouldn't 'get it' at all!) but stick with it and it'll stick with you for a long time...!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm this is a good price BUT have been stung so many times with these great deals for them to be free on ps plus in a couple of months time. Anyone think we'll get it on ps plus in the next 6 months?

Yeah I definitely agree, I thought it maybe dragged on slightly longer than it should but it was very rewarding experience. I can certainly understand why some people wouldn't 'get' it so much. It lacks traditional elements of gaming but I'm enjoying this relatively new genre that seems to have emerged. Want to get The Vanishing of Ethan Carter next.

I'm playing it now and the unlocked frame rate was obvious from the get go, check it out on digital foundry. I've got over it now and plodded on. I'm enjoying it thus far. I also enjoyed Dear Esther if that helps.

Beautiful to look at, oddly compelling once you get into it its a shame that mine crashed out after 6 hours and lost all the hours gameplay so I couldn't be bothered going through it all again.

This won't be a game for everyone, it's a bit of a marmite game, but I loved it. More an interactive story than a game, really, but it's a good story. Think the best 70s Tales of the Unexpected Roald Dahl stories mixed with 90s tv classic Heartbeat.
The soundtrack is excellent, though. Jessica Curry is amazing and it's just a pity that the industry hasn't really recognised her enough for her effort making games like this.

Wholly agreed. I'm currently listening to the soundtrack now (I bought it after playing the game through for the first time). I feel it's one of the greatest game soundtracks of all time! Mix the soundtrack with the terribly heart-wrenching moments in the game, and I was in bits by the end of it!
I think I've played through the game about 7/8 times now and got all my achievements, and I'm still happy to wander around Yaughton soaking up the atmosphere.
If you buy the game and want to sprint everywhere, leap over gates, go in every house, crouch, backflip and shoot some aliens, then it's definitely not for you. Relax and enjoy it for the beauty that it is.

I just don't understand how or why or where it's on sale. As far as I can tell it's not listed as deal of the week, it's not coming up under the January sale (I checked twice), and it's not even in the Playstation Plus Discounts section where it should also be regardless.
I'm not saying it's a mistake, it just leaves me wondering if there's anything else currently secretly on sale. If you can't trust the Console stores, you can't trust the PS Blog anymore, and you can't even trust the web store... how the hell are we supposed to find these deals?
Ah interesting site. Does it have DLC filters? A lot of my most wanted stuff is DLC, especially the ones that never go on sale... do you think it's worth signing up or just browse?
According to that site quite a lot of stuff was added today! Maybe there will be a blog post later, or maybe they'll get bundled into the January sale whenever they get around to it.
I have Octodad already, tried it but never got around to playing it properly. Looks like a great game, though seemingly requires a guide for the trophies.
Ah, the Digital Discounts section definitely wasn't there when I looked before, must have been newly added with this week's sales. In fact none of the other new (returning) categories were there at the time, only January sales and PS Plus Discounts... I guess it's like the weekly store update in that things start to go live before the infrastructure is all there.

Its just the fact ive brought so many bargains but have little time to play them. They stockpile cos I buy them for a bargain n they mount up. With ps plus I don't think anyone wants to pay 7 quid for something if they could have had it free a week later.

It is wonderful ending, just a pity about Curry's illness and her treatment by the press when the game first came out. Been a bit overshadowed by all the other stuff in the industry over sexism, but this is one person who has obviously put a lot of herself in the games.

This is well worth £6.79 if you have plus. Think I paid a tenner for it a couple of months back, but I really enjoyed the experience. It does sound a bit like a Radio4 play at times but the voice acting feels genuine, the story is intriguing the music and visuals are incredible. It was a refreshing change of pace from the games I was playing at that time Destiny / Battlefield etc. Heat added.

The game is pretty much split into parts of the story. For example, the first part is for 'Jeremy'. So you explore the village to find pieces of Jeremy's story. At some point, you 'collect' the key parts of the tale and this often kickstarts the finale of that story (In Jeremy's case, you hear the church bells chiming, which encourages you to see whats going on at the Church). This then guides you on the path of Part 2....
It was at this point I suddenly fell in love with it!
You don't have to do that of course - you can just keep wandering through the villages and walk to the end - you will of course miss everything!

Just curious, have any of you guys played Ether One?
I have (via the PS+ Instant Game Collection) and I can't really recommend it, I'm afraid. Admittedly I've not played Everybody's Gone to the Rapture for comparison, but Ether One comes across as *very* slow throughout, not overly interesting in terms of 'plot' - and very buggy. :disappointed:
PrinceRules64
23 Jan 16#57
They are both very slow, but that's by design. The whole idea of these games is just that you walk around and explore (as opposed to sprinting between objective markers), although Ether One does have minor puzzle solving. As for plot and bugs, I don't recall encountering any bugs, but 'Everybody's gone' does seem to be the more popular among its fans, so I wouldn't dare say Ether One is the better game- just similar, and worth a thought.
