Oh we have some right martyrs on this site. Yawn.

When did it become a debate about smoking/e-cigarettes anyway. The deal was posted as 29p is a decent price for a reasonable liquid.

Do we have a debate on how harmful alcohol is to the body each time a deal is posted for cheap booze? The answer is no.

Get off your soap boxes for goodness sake.

can you mix this with vodka

But technically speaking, vodka is accelerant. So when applied with heat combustion will happen, and your sure to have one hot smoke, that will tingle your face literally.

Hi,

need advice about these to switch from cigarettes.

Which is the best to buy etc?

What kit do I need to buy to start using these liquids?

Is a starter kit good?

Many Thanks in advance.

Yes long term no-one has any evidence as so far it's only been around 7-8 years (approx) mainstream.
Doesn't make it any better than the other though - less people getting admitted for nicotine poisoning, driving while vaping, GBH while out on the jolly, etc.
We all have our vices, about time people were respectful of that.

Alcohol has thousands of years of use and research going for it. You have no idea what the effect of e-cigs will be in 20 years time.

They're not proven to be anything. It's thought that they cause lung scarring and pneumonia. This is still being researched at the moment.

A for propylene glycol which keeps being brought up, it's very different using it topically to having it inside your lungs. The potato analogy was fantastic.

I've bought a couple to try today and I like them. They are not as strong as some of the the other ones and actually feel allot like you are smoking a cigarette. I bought Virginia Tobacco and Apple. Both are better than the £3 ones you can buy from Amazon. I will be going back for more at that price.

Meathotukdeals

Typical smoker's attitude.
chrissatchell
14 Jan 16 1 #61
the 5% is essentially nicotine, the harm is that it is habit forming and causes dependancy. E-Cigarettes are now so well proven to be a healthier option the NHS will soon offer them, they're essentially now in the same ballpark as using nicotine gum/patches. People are much more likely to stick with them due to the fact it actually feels like the same sensation as smoking, then ween off the amount of nicotine over time.

If you don't want to breathe in anything harmful (studies have shown the only thing exhaled is clean vapour by the way so what your issue is I don't know) I suggest you never go outside again considering the amount of pollution in our air.

p.s. as someone who used to smoke 20 a day and have all sorts of health issues due to psoriasis affecting my immune system, since moving to vaping a few years ago I barely ever get ill or contract infections now, approximately 1/10 times i would used to. Be in denial all you want, the facts exist to support the benefits. Oh and will you also attack smirnoff ice/wkd for being more appealing to children? Chocolate cigarettes too?
Meathotukdeals
14 Jan 16 #60
So in other words 5% as harmful as tobacco cigs - which we all know are pretty nasty and do kill lots of people.

So no thanks I don't want to be breathing vape fumes from someone else in to my lungs. Someone says the same ingredients in toothpaste etc well risk reward there for me to consume what I have chosen (vs someone else's harmful fumes in the air) to clean my teeth and help stop tooth decay.

Big difference and I'm surprised ppl are even using these things in defense of e-cigs.

I was recently on a small bus that picked up some school kids and 3 of them - from a sample of say15-20 - broke out their e-cigs. And I have noticed an increase in the number of people smoking without filters and the last time I used a Tram in Manchester city centre someone got on announced he could do what the f*** he likes and lit up a tobacco cig right there.

So to me the whole cigarette thing needs regulating and policing more and I do feel there is a link between the two.

fyi, I've tried ones from Home Bargs before and they've been pretty poor but these are good as emergency ones, high PG and nicotine usually so not suitable for subtanks. If you're short on cash and need juice use onepoundeliquid (non-subtank & low wattage only really as the PG content means they would be very harsh otherwise) or shadow juice (pre-steeped, very very tasty and very cheap for what you get, 5x10ml £12 and you often get little free extra's like vapebands to protect your tank. high VG instead of PG and low nicotine options so fantastic for subtanks).

12 Jan 16 #58
I buy 10 ltrs of vg for £25 and 5 ltr of pg for £20 and 1ltr of nicotine for £80 flavour concentrate are £2.50 for 30ml. So for around £140 I cane make around 1600 10ml bottles. I used to buy the bottles for £3 each.

Let's face it even if you're not a scientist or doctor, an e-liquid is more than likely to be better than breathing in smoke from a cigarette

Do you drink alcohol, tea/coffee etc?

It's a good job hardly anyone ever does that. According the recent Healthy Ireland survey by the Irish government, 0.1% of people who have never smoked use e-cigs.

That "study" failed to mention that a cigarette contain several hundred times more diacetyl, the substance linked with popcorn lung, than an e-cig cartridge. It also failed to mention that the diacetyl levels associated with industrial workers getting popcorn lung were even higher than cigarette exposure. It is of course a concern as to why levels of diacetyl were found in some brands and perhaps action should be taken to either ensure it is limited or removed completely.

I'm not sure why but there's a lot of scaremongering and sensationalism with something that is obviously somewhat a safer, maybe not 95% safer as PHE suggested but still, and viable alternative to tobacco. Yes we don't have a lot of data

How do you know that the popcorn lung study was funded by big tobacco?

I make liquid myself, and even make it for a couple of work colleagues at fair prices. It's not difficult as long as you've got a basic grip of maths (there's good e-liquid calculator phone apps to give you quantities you need too)..

I haven't done an exact costing but the raw materials for 500ml of my liquid (I make 500ml at a time, it steeps as I decant it!) costs about £22 - and that's using expensive flavour concentrates @ £9 for 30ml (good for about 250ml finished product) and trustworthy suppliers of nicotine base, PG and VG.

No doubt I could get the cost down more but I'm still addicted to my Red Astaire and personally would rather stick to 'trustworthy' nicotine. Which basically means avoiding China where possible

So using that rough guide, for personal consumption, I pay around 44p per 10ml, not including the cost of bottles but for personal consumption I reuse bottles I've accumulated.

I guess I need to include other bits like syringes / pipettes e.t.c. but you get the idea, it's not that dear to make it yourself and you get a FAR better product than some of the cheap shop junk.
