on oc thisnisnt worth it as pc sports titles drop fast. all the other titles can be picked up relatively cheaply too. on the console it makes sense but pc it doesnt.

I've got a 2ng gen i7 2670QM it had intel HD3000 graphics but no dedicated graphics card. I'm guessing it's not up to playing much on this list. I'm most interested in the dragon ages. I normally do my gaming on consoles so not sure what my PC can play.

You might play some of the older titles at the lowest settings but that's hardly how they should be experienced.
With the PC graphics card is king, much more important than even the CPU. If you have a bottom end or integrated one like the HD3000 your gaming experience is always going to be quite limited, at least in the realms of 3D graphics, there are tonnes of great 2D titles you can play no problem but few of them are made by EA.
If you could install a graphics card, even a good budget one would make a huge difference and immediately make all the titles accessible to you but obviously depends what you have. Laptops are pretty much impossible to upgrade and even pre-built desktops are likely to need a PSU upgrade unless you install an incredibly power efficient card like the Geforce 750TI.

Not a good deal as far as i'm concerned. Most of the games on the list have now been superseded by a newer version, Most of them I wouldn't bother playing anyway except dragon age and fifa, but I've got fifa 16 for pc already and dragon age alone isn't worth it. I can't believe they don't have all the command and conquer games on this list aswell im sure it would make it more appealing. The only EA game I really want right now is that UFC 2 for pc but I doubt it'll happen.

That's their problem as is the fact that they didn't release a single decent game last year.
At the end of the day, the service is half the price of xbl and psn on xb1 but it also offers far less for the money and there are probably far fewer overheads to consider.

A new game every month isn't a reasonable expectation when they don't release enough games to be able to do that. There will be a glut of additions in the next few months when the next round of sporting games are added to the vault. You get a 10 hour free trial of every game they've released if it's not in the vault, it is a great offering for the price on Xbox One.

Erm console exclusives? Backwards compatibility with the 360? I'm not the biggest fan of the Xbox One TBH and probably wouldn't have picked it up if I hadn't found one very cheap, but I still wouldn't write it off like that, it's still a decent console and a very nice, powerful, virtually silent media system. Worth owning for the Forza series alone IMHO, unless you can get that on PC now :smirk:

I can't believe this isn't shared with the Xbox One EA Access, so what are PC AND Xbox One owners meant to do? Pay for the exact same service twice? Can't believe EA are so bad at wrapping their head around the concept that some people might actually own more than one gaming device!
I'll be sticking with the Xbox One version anyhow, if they see sense and make it cross platform great, otherwise I'll probably never experience the 'joys' of Origin Access.

I had this issue yesterday as well, I ended up phoning them and sorting it over the phone. Change the authentication to email, after you phone them! Do it on the phone as it asks you for the code more than once!

Ah, I did that too. If you go into your account online (I went on to it via my pc) you can disable your authenticator just by unticking a box. The help team were extremely . . . er . . .helpful in talking me through it! (and I'm 62, so if I can do it.....)

Its not that great when you look at how much you can buy the games in the vault for anyway.
I bought pvz garden warfare for £10 from ea a couple of weeks ago and its available from cdkeys for only £8.
It might be good if you wanted to try out a few games, or if you were planning on buying games direct from origin as they give you a 10% discount.
Maybe as they add more titles it becomes more tempting, but not its not right now

Hot from me. It's not an absolutely stellar line-up and the price is relatively steep, I'll grant. But on the other hand, I recently decided to give dragon age origins ultimate edition another shot and was fancying continuing onto 2 and inquisition - I can now do this by buying a months subscription assuming I get through them quickly enough. That said, I currently pay nearly double this for a single game per month, so I suppose it's all relative!
I think once they start releasing annual codes, which will be sold by CD keys for reduced prices and a few more games are added it will be fairly good value.

This confuses me. What exactly is it you expect from EA Access on the Xbox One, Spark? A new game every month?
EA Access is now just under 18 months old (on the console platform). There are only 24 games from EA on the Xbox One (and that's including FIFA 14, FIFA 15 & FIFA 16 for example).
If you add the 10 hour trials and the discounts, EA Access is a value for money service which many PS4 owners would love (they say they wouldn't, but they would :wink:). Unfortunately this isn't the best games line up for 'Origin Access' but I'm sure EA Access wasn't either at launch. £3.99 a month, no long term commitment, perfect for new gamers on PC.

They can't and won't. Valve don't really create or publish games anymore. They just provide a storefront for other publishers and involve themselves in free-to-play and all of that E-Sports nonsense. They haven't actually put out a real game of their own since CS:GO and I'm not even sure if that really counts.

The fact that this isn't cross platform and costs double what the Xbox One service costs is an instant cold IMHO.
The Xbox One service seems to have stagnated recently and there hasn't been a new free game in the vault since November. I could imagine this going the same way since EA aren't going to want to give up too much for free and they just don't have the library to give out something decent every month.

Exactly! If PC games held value like console games it would be worth it. With activation keys purchasable for £20, and some of these older games being pence (Dead Space) I really don't see it being worth it.

Is this good/bad? All of the games in that list are quite old now (in gaming terms) and I have all but the sword and sourcery type stuff and Sims. The link here to the Origin page shows each game as 3.99 or full retail price. Does the 3.99 p/m allow Origin members to access every game for that one price per month or is each game 3.99 p/m? Either way it's quite pricey as I didn't pay more than a fiver for any one of those Origin games. Once out of favour game prices drop radically. £48.00 per year is quite a lot if, like me, there are only five or six games from the list that I'd actually want to play. Are there many gamers who like all games genres?

In US EA Access is $4.99 equivalent to £3.46 so every year they get 2 extra months every year... I wonder is the proxy thingy works with Access so we will get it down to £2-£3 from Mexico.
It does worth it in my opinion, decent games in library(Battlefield 3 and 4, Simcity, Dragon age Inquisition) plus they are saying they will keep adding more. The downside is that I already own half of the games there but It is still very tempting.

They say on EA Access on Xbox they will never pull any games. So far they're keeping to their word but I don't know if it's the same for this

Alleycat is a programming marvel though. Works on ANY PC in a dosbox environment without the need of any programmes to slow things down

I think PC gaming is a bit more robust, especially considering the interest in older games these days, aided by things like GoG.com and other companies. I mean, I have games on my Origin account that are 20+ years old (e.g. Wing Commander games, Syndicate, Ultima VII).
I get that it's nice to own them, and some on the list have more replay/long term value, but others (e.g. Battlefield: Hardline or Garden Warfare) might just be worth a couple of month or two spin while they've got reasonably active online communities.

I think it's a good deal - the line up is more appealing to me than the sports heavy Xbox One selection. Alas, that does mean I already have most of the ones I would get this for. But I agree it'd be a good way to try a lot of decent games if you're new to PC gaming.
I guess whether the subscription model is sensible generally depends on how often you play. There's a couple of hundred hours of gameplay in the Dragon Age games alone - if that'd take you a couple of months, then that's pretty good value for money IMO. If they'd end up being the only games you had time to play all year, it's probably not the route for you...

It could be a good idea but what with all the sales/giveaways and everything else I would expect a lot of people probably own the majority of those games and aren't too bothered about the ones they don't have. May prove useful but PC gaming is quite cheap if you buy the keys elsewhere.
