With respect, you have started a pointless conversation and you're taking it to nowhere by adding different things up as "reason". Please go back and read what I said, again...
1. You have provided links from Tesco which may not be the day one edition.
2. You're then claiming Base is avoiding tax but yet you're buying from them...
3. Now you're saying this is a bad game and must be avoided.

Stating that this sold badly because it had poor reviews - seemingly based on anecdotal evidence - is totally misleading.
It is a hack-and-slash spin-off of a series that isn't that well-known here, on a home console when the last non-handheld version was released back on the PS2 10 years ago iirc. The game also released on the exact same day as three other Japanese games (Tales of Zestiria, Disgaea 5 and Dungeon Travelers 2).
As per Metacritic, this got decent reviews. If you like the genre, or the series, you'll more than likely enjoy the game.

Not from everybody here.

73 reviews and only 7 are under 7/10. It got good reviews.
Also, some of the other "Deals" threads for this product have some criticism from members.
(I cancelled my "Day One Edition" order [from Amazon (UK)] last week, when it was priced at £17.49, when I read the comments from other members).

Yet, because of the poor reviews, many of the Day One Editions still exist (hence why all the other retailers mentioned above still have stock to sell).
Of course, you can always ask Tesco Direct in advance of ordering, or return any product that is not as advertised.
Either way, lots of options available.
The subject of this "Deal" is "Dispatched and sold by BaseCH", i.e. from Switzerland, rather than Base.com (as their local supply is "out of stock" at £22.99). So, if a timely delivery is important, one of the other merchants may be a better choice.
My previous orders with Base.com/BaseCH have always arrived a few days later than UK-based merchants, but the savings in the purchase price offset this.
Obviously, if you are one of those that prefer to use merchants than are not avoiding UK taxation, then you may wish to source this item from elsewhere.

Great price. Got it from game for £20 boxing day. Seems decent. Not really a dragon quest game, more tower defence. But fun none the less.

Although you are probably right and Tesco will likely send the day one editions out, BUT since they have not mentioned this anywhere in the title or description, they can send you the normal copy too. Especially because the game was released 3 months ago.

To give you an example, here is a day one edition game that they are selling on their website: http://www.tesco.com/direct/sleeping-dogs-definitive-edition-day-1-edition-ps4/395-4853.prd
As you can see the title clearly says "Day 1 Edition".

Also bear in mind Tesco's deal is for the standard edition not the day one edition. So effectively base is offering a better price.
