Jeez are people still buying laptops with 5400rpm drives? Add another £70 minimum for an SSD. Not that hot for me.

What the hell is an "Internal English Keyboard" ?
Considering I paid around £430 for a brand new Inspiron with Core i7-3632QM, 6GB RAM, Radeon 2gb graphics and 750GB HDD with 15.6inch HD screen (not full HD I admint) back in 2012, not sure if this is a good deal. I thought technological advances were going to make computational cost lower (even considering inflation). So not voting cold/hot.
Also this is a DELL - be prepared to receive either a faulty laptop (dead pixels / screen not working) or missing screws. In the last 10 years or so I have ordered five Dell products 1 desktop and 4 laptops. The desktop was fine but all 4 laptops had problems - two returned immediately due to dead pixels, one returned after several months because the screen just kept switching off randomly - and my current one - had quite a lot of screws missing in places (they should have been there according to Dell's manual).
To their credit, they do accept returns/refund for faulty laptops ( - I guess judging by the number of returns they must receive they had lots of practice streamlining the process?).

They had some 17" FHD ones earlier today, around £450 including VAT. I am currently on my 2nd refurb in 10 years, and have been very happy with both of them; saved a few hundred quid easily.

Just bought the 13 model instead - seems to be similar spec including FHD display but a 500GB SSD instead of the mechanical one. Comes to £366. Would you say this is a good deal? Obviously it's a 13 inch screen rather than 15.

if anyone knows without me popping anything open it would be appreciated, although it eems to run same as the desktop on sata 3, but im no speed checker

Has anyone else had problems with Dell outlet kit? My first Dell outlet laptop a few years back came without any drivers installed. I've just got another one last week which is showing the charger as unrecognised and therefore won't charge. I've tried updating the BIOS (showing version A01 but version A09 is the latest update!) but it won't allow it. Surely Dell has some kind of quality control before shipping their products out.

Nope! Bought 100s of computer form Dell outlet for the company I used to work for. You'd be amazed at some of the issues we had, esp driver issues which we got to know with experience. I've had the not adapter issue with a few XPS and Alienware's and that'll be a new mobo. Just phone them up as you should have next working day onsite warranty. It is a slight lottery with the outlet but you obviously get serious bang for buck if everything works.
I remember we had a problem for every 6 PC's we'd buy, though most of the issues were addressed with an engineer visit and very few were returned for not as described (most often incorrect spec listed as to what we received) or serious malfunction where many replacement parts were required.
Give them a call on 0800 028 2660 and you'll have it sorted in a day or two with a site visit.

It gets better. Because the original unit went to Turkey and seems to have made it's way to Dell Outlet UK, I am not listed as the owner. Therefore I have had to fill in an change of ownership form and can't get any service from Dell until this goes through! So I'm stuck now with a laptop which has to be permanently plugged in until the change of ownership goes through! Brilliant.

Aff, we've had that too. Perhaps they've changed things as you used to phone them up about that and they would do the change of ownership which would take a few days but address the issue since we could provide the order confirmation email(s) to show it really was us that bought it. Therefore come out the next working day to repair the computer.
Can you try that with them as that's ridiculous you can't get it repaired until the change of ownership happens which could take days, weeks or even months? I would also ask them to compensate you (normally it's a partial refund of 10% - they wouldn't go any further than that with us) which I would think you should receive since you've been inconvenienced by this issue. Otherwise you may want to consider returning it for full refund or a replacement (if they can offer that which normally they can't).

Just a word of warning to anyone considering purchasing a Dell outlet laptop. As stated above, mine arrived complete with Dell charger. The Dell charger is not recognised by the laptop and therefore won't charge. This means the laptop has to be plugged in all the time, therefore not much use as a laptop! This laptop has been sent out faulty which begs the question, how well has it been tested/repaired prior to re-sale? I have now just spent 33 minutes waiting for technical support to answer before I hung up. I'm now in the process of formally rejecting the laptop.

I have handled thousands of Dell refurbs at my old company and what you describe is very rare; maybe one in a thousand.

No GPU on my 13 though. It's not a true SSD either but a hybrid. Is this ok for £366 or could I do better??

If it's the 6th Gen Core i5 I would say it's a good deal, actually R5 M335 got about the same scores comparing to HD 520 in benchmarks.
