I have just discovered the series . I had tried Dark Souls once before but gave up after dying again and again. Then I discovered how to actually play it, and found I was not supposed to go and see the massive skelton in the graveyard right at the beginning of the game (fire link) - and suddenly I was hooked. Now half way through and am loving it, though it sure can be tough!
Now I have DS2 and 3 to look forward to, amazing games if you don't mind a challenge.

Enjoy mate. DS II isn't as good as DS imo but it's still a superb game. Have you played Bloodborne on the PS4 as that's made by the same devs (From Software) and has similar elements in the gameplay.

I was in the same boat, but with Demon's Souls. Killed the first boss but just couldn't get past a bridge with this giant dragon constantly incinerating me. Gave up thinking "how can anyone enjoy this, it's pure masochism!". Years later on a whim I tried Bloodborne because I liked the Victorian/Gothic aesthetic and tried the alpha which was pretty good. I loved it immediately. Got the platinum and then played Dark Souls 2 SOTFS, eventually ploughing 170 hours into it! Strangely Dark Souls (arguably the best/favourite of the series) is the only one I've never played.

You can get countless bits of tat for Assassins Creed and CoD but next to nothing for this amazing series.
At this point I'd even settle for an Ornstein & Smough Pop Vinyl figures!

This can be even cheaper if you have points with The Game Collection. I've saved another 90p cashing in on my points, so got it for £34.15. Doubting that even Amazon will have it cheaper.
However it will be worth checking nearer the release as the TGC only take payment on dispatch.
