Found a great deal, brought one myself although I would have preferred brown switches.

Free Delivery too

Compared to other similar priced keyboards its a steal

Edit: Getting comments wondering whether this is the Xti model or not. The ETA argos has given indicate it is a Quickfire TK, so the image/thumbnail is kinda misleading. Should have clarified this earlier.

Edit 2.: Wow first post and it blew up. I have decided not to cancel my order in case I get the actual product described. It did seem to be too good to be true, bummer.

I have just come back the this thread after reading a text I got from Argos, and I knew before opening this thread it was gonna be full of winners and losers.

But Some of you are just pathetic.....

Moaners with lower spec keyboard: ! TOUGH, Move on, get over it, nothing venture nothing gained, just return it.

Argos: You handled this superbly, you worked your ass off to make your customers happy after you realise you made a mistake.speaking with CM and asking them to work together to try and keep most of us happy... Cooler master: coming on here to reassure us as customer and tell us you are doing your best to fulfil orders says A GREAT DEAL about your customer support and customer loyalty..... I have been on the fence between a corsair PC case and a cooler master case for the last week or so, and based on this thread alone I'm completely sold on purchasing the Cooler master case !!

Argos left a voicemail, requesting to arrange a pickup for the keyboard. So I've gone back to Coolermaster to see if I can just RMA directly with them. I won't get a mech for £33, so I'd rather attempt to get it fixed than get the cash back.

Did u find a way to fix your keyboard? Im beginning to see the same behaviour on my unit - unresponsive keys, with spacebar taking longer than it should to register. I really like this keyboard, and dont want to loose it if its breaking down.

Micro-P tell argos it's discontinued, or that they no longer have any stock of it. So they are offering a refund. Argos refunded the £32.99 and gave a £10 voucher for the hassle too. Doesn't seem they are interested in the old keyboard back though... so anyone know someone who may be able to fix this, based on the problem I explained above? Thanks.

...and mines broken :smile: a very peculiar problem too, but ah well. Now to see if I can get a replacement or not.. called Argos and they said they'll contact the third party supplier who supplied the initial order - and that they'll contact me to arrange a replacement (hopefully).

for anyone interested, my problem was this:
I noticed once or twice in the past few days whilst playing CSGO, that they keyboard would seem to cut out, and then reboot. The backlights would still be on, but nothing would seem to happen. It ended up kicking back in a few times. But now it's got to a point where I plug it in, and it only types accented letters such as áéóíú, If I spam some of my laptop keys like ALT Gr and Ctrl, it does tend to come back and let me type - but then some of they keys won't work. The num lock key, Fn Lock etc is no longer responsive, and it seems the lights on those keys are turning on and off somewhat randomly (or maybe responding very slowly to an old keypress). Space key seems to not work, and sometimes no c, v or h. The lack of c, v or h is something which then persists on my laptop keyboard after I unplug the keyboard, and I have to restart the laptop in order to get functionality back. I've tried this on two machines now after a morning of troubleshooting, and it acts exactly the same on another machine on a different version of Windows. I therefore fear something software based has gone wrong, and unfortunately there is no factory reset or firmware update/reset available on this model.

Ho hum, not the most warming venture into the mechanical keyboard market.

Its not a poker 2 actually, its a RK61 with Kailh blues, wanted a bluetooth mech for my windows tablet (the weird membrane ones for surface and that are awful) but ended up using it as my normal keyboard for a few weeks recently. Kinda got used to the satisfying noise of the blues! Was slightly to hard for everyday use only being 60% though, hence why I went for this one!

I put my old card in window and circled the leave with neighbour option and wrote a little note asking for them to leave it with neighbour please. They tried to redeliver today, and thankfully left it with my neighbour. Just need to wait for my neighbour to get in from is night shift! Goodluck

I ended up getting one with brown switches; really light and great for gaming. This keyboard has a lovely clickity-clack and it feels so much better than the boggo corsair k35 I had before.

I've gone from a zalman sort-of-cherry switches to corsair k35 (hated the sticky typing on that membrane) to this. Love it so far.

as this one is my 3rd mechanical keyboard I would say blue is definitely a lot more clickier and requires a full stroke to the bottom to type. I used to love blue but it starts to put on a toll at my joints since I type everyday and from then I switched to brown (toll of working in IT inds :wink: )

Unlucky for me mine was stated as being delivered this morning and signed for by a family member although it wasn't. There was no note so the deliver guy has either left it with a neighbor and left me no note (No reason as we were up at 7:40am) or they have stolen it. Contacted UK mail and they are looking into it. I think i'll end up with a refund if anything, would rather them send me another one out but oh well. These things do happen. Glad to see they have pulled through for everyone else =)

Got home and mine had arrived, really chuffed and a big thanks to Argos and Cooler Master for honouring the orders.

I got the browns, wanted the reds after reading they were more suited to gaming, but its my first mechanical keyboard after having my eyes on them for a while and the browns feel really good, im so glad i bought one. It is THE perfect keyboard for me in terms of size as i have little desk space. Its also my first Cooler Master product and the build quality is excellent. Will definitely be looking at them more in the future. I couldn't be happier.

Not too far really. All my other accessories plug in with a decent amount of slack of the cables. I don't think the cable on this is 1.8m though, as that's the same alleged length as my Logitech G400, and the cable for that is more than long enough. It's not a huge problem or anything.

Also had one with brown switches delivered this morning. Would have preferred blues, but browns are better than reds at least. Can't really complain for this price.

The cable on the keyboard is super short though. I had to plug it into my front panel USB, as it won't reach around the back.

How far away is your PC from your monitor then?

according to the website it's a 1.8m cable - surely that's long enough?

Ordered 2, received 1 with brown switches. Called Argos and they advised that they could only fulfil one so refunded the other (checked bank statement and there is a refund of £32.99 from the 26th Jan).

Happy to have received anything but at the same time would have appreciated some communication - even if just to confirm I was receiving 1, or some tracking details - anything really :smiley:

I already had the brown CM fullsize ultimate keyboard and just got the red key TK version and I must say it is sooo much quieter than the browns. Can see how the reds would be better for fps gaming but its no where near as good for general typing.

Might just steal the keys caps off it as my brown keyboard has french keys. Picked it up from beepick.es for £33. Really missing the arrow keys on this TK version.

Also just notice some damage to one of the keys, there was a small tear in the box when it arrived in and it has damaged the keypad no 3 key.

I ordered the blue backlit one. I was not expecting anything from Argos to be fair due to this quite clearly being a massive mistake. My keyboard came this morning. I got the Quick Fire TK with Brown switches and clear backlit. Now I know nothing about PC keyboards but after googling what I have received today it seems that I have got one hell of a great deal here. I think my son is going to be very happy when he comes home from school !!!

Considering that MX switches are fixed price, the cost of distribution, and the cost of implementing a programmable layer, and the light modes, I would say they broke even.

Mine arrived but it is a red version. I much prefer the blue. I find them better for both gaming and typing, but it's pure preference.

I'm really tempted to send it back. I know it's a great price, but the reds are not for me (used them before, not opened it).

It's well known mechanical keyboards (basically keyboards from the late 80s /early 90s) are extremely over priced for the gaming market, as indeed most gaming products are. All parties involved here still probably made a profit. :laughing:

I know, CM basically had a knee-jerk reaction and ended up supporting Exertis, and making good on the orders.

CM lost a lot of money here, Argos certainly put pressure on this.

nobody is going to get the orders for this keyboard. I know the distributor and have a contact within Coolermaster I know also.

Coolermaster have said the item is not in argos warehouse, but is an item stocked by a distributor called Exertis.

Argos online orders are given to Exertis for fulfilment, ie Exertis ship to you direct, it never goes via Argos warehouse, but there has been a mistake between Exertis and Argos, and the price is wrong.

Exertis will not honour the price, and Argos will not make such losses. So the only outcome is that Argos will cancel the orders.

Argos only changed the item to out of stock as a result of my contact with the UK CM sales rep.

I'm currently using the cherry mx silent switches which are very similar to reds. I find them great for gaming but I had a keyboard with blues on for 2 years and you do get uses to them even for gaming. My only issue was the noise, although cool at first it drove me mad playing games lol.

I know, I originally wanted blues for the more tactile response but after seeing everyone get reds and getting the message to say I wouldn't get blues, I did some research and thought the reds would be nicer for my purposes (gaming). Now receiving the blues I am just having to change my mindset back.

I am going to try it out tonight, see how it feels, but if I don't like it does anyone with a red want to swap? Preferably around the Kent area. If so I'll let you know tomorrow morning.

Got the TK Blue. Interestingly the delivery man failed to deliver my package yesterday, said it wasn't in the truck. Turned up today all apologetic with a Blue switch mech. Had just convinced myself that Red would be better for my purposes than the Blue, now have to re-convince myself that the Blue is superior.

​No switch is superior to another, blue is probably the worst for gaming but best for typing, red is preferred by gamers and brown is the middle ground. either way for this price you can't grumble really :smiley:

Ordered thursday night, and never recieved a dispatch text or anything other than the email saying that the led colour may be different etc. I wasn't expecting a dispatch text because didn't stick a mobile number onto the argos account till after i ordered, however. Very impressed with CM and Argos!

At first when I opened the package and saw red switches I was a little disappointed as I prefer brown switches with a tactile bump, But after typing on it for an hour or 2 I find it just as easy to type on as my g710+. I assume this is because I usually bottomed out my keystrokes anyway.

And for £33 I can't find anything to complain about as I bought it to replace a rubbish wireless membrane keyboard on my second computer.

Another note is that my g710+ has O rings on each key which means that the cm storm is louder when I type than my main keyboard.

Well I've never tried to cancel it. The only communication I've had is the argos order confirmation on Wed at around 1830 and the text on the Friday saying they're going to give me a different colour.

Also, I just checked the dispatch note and the product description says "COOLER MASTER CM STORM QUICK FIRE TK TEN KEYLESS RED MX MECHANICAL GAMING KEYBOARD WITH RED LEDS"

So, it looks like it is down to the luck of the draw... probably depends on when they process your order and what they have to hand during the picking?

They're pretty fine. I haven't got all that much experience with cherry switches so I can't confidently say 'they're not as good as browns' or anything but it does feel nice. Takes a bit of getting used to though. Keys feel tall and travel lots (although they activated after only being depressed slightly) I'm making a fair few typing mistakes!

I'm half tempted to sell mine. One evening of working (illustrator, photoshop, after effects) and the numpad combination is driving me insane.
REALLY nice though otherwise. The red's feel great, keyboard is beautifully solid and I love having a bit more room ont he desk, but I think I need those extra keys! :disappointed:

Errr so whats happening ? From what I gather its an error, but CM is honoring it and that we will probably get red switches and lucky ones will get brown ones?

I placed my order at 2am on Thursday, got a text 4 hours ago (EXPERTIS UK LTD), would I be getting blue,red or brown or is it random ?

To be honest Cokeboy is totally correct, Argos, Cooler Master and Exertis had to come to a mutual agreement for it to go ahead otherwise this wouldn't have happened the way it did! can you imagine the disappointments that it would have caused to everybody. Community is key to the success of any business especially ours :smile:

nobody is going to get the orders for this keyboard. I know the distributor and have a contact within Coolermaster I know also.

Coolermaster have said the item is not in argos warehouse, but is an item stocked by a distributor called Exertis.

Argos online orders are given to Exertis for fulfilment, ie Exertis ship to you direct, it never goes via Argos warehouse, but there has been a mistake between Exertis and Argos, and the price is wrong.

Exertis will not honour the price, and Argos will not make such losses. So the only outcome is that Argos will cancel the orders.

Argos only changed the item to out of stock as a result of my contact with the UK CM sales rep.

Huge respect for CM now I've received my cherry red. What a top company compensating for what seems to be a retailer's mistake. The quality of the keyboard is excellent and I shall be looking to CM for all my future kit.
Must say thanks to Argos too for not just pulling the plug and cancelling orders etc. Now off to tap some cherries.

Can anyone already received and using one of these test if the right enter key works when numlock is both on and off? The first version of these keyboards (some years ago now) disabled that enter key when using the arrow keys, which seemed a bit silly and was changed in firmware for later ones (not user updatable). Only reason I wonder is if it's possible these are old stock they want to offload.

I have both an older TK and a red one that I got from this thread today. I can confirm that the right enter key works with numpad on and off with the new one and on the old one it doesn't.

+ also works with numpad on or off too :smiley:

What's weird is that the red ones are most expensive.

I received the incorrect membrane version and asked Argos if they could exchange it and the guy said that he arranged for it to be collected and for the correct version to be dispatched - he even asked me what switches I would; said I didn't even care just as long as I got the version that was advertised; so it should be OK hopefully.

Requested the BROWN though however the RED appears more expensive than the other two at both ARGOS and Amazon.

Have to applaud Cooler Master & Argos to deliver at original price paid albeit not the version ordered ... though sympathies for those who got the membrane switch versions ... hope the final outcome for these folk work out positively. :smiley:

Just off the phone to them and they said that only one keyboard per order is getting through to each person and that it could be red or a brown, there's no guarantee which one it is.

Called Argos again, they got a reply back from the supplier about specifying which keyboard you want this morning.
The supplier says they cannot gaurentee which one you will get regardless if you request or not as they are just sending them out randomly. The guy I talked too said the only thing you can do if you get one you dont want is to get a refund, there is no exchange.
Well that sucks.

To be honest I don't know.
I would imagine the white plate would reflect the colour of the LED (thats why the plate is there in the first place to reflect the colour of the LED), not as vibrate as a blue LED on a blue backplate, but will still pick up the LED colour, would probably be a paler blue or whatever colour you choose.

super ghetto :smile: only bad thing about that is the LED will only change through the top lettering, the plate will still be glowing white on the TK (the white plate under the keys) because the side of the LED isn't covered. With the ones I linked it covers everything, so you will get a even glow.

You could take time and ghetto a full cover, but time is money!

Although he seemed to think the "backlight" was brown not the switches.

Well I wouldn't say an Amazing keyboard. I'm using the Corsair strafe rgb with the MX silent switches and I would just about class that is an Amazing keyboard. I owned a cm quickfire limited edition white version with cherry brown switches a few years ago and it was a decent keyboard but it had a it's flaws. The integrated numpad arrow keys used to do my head in switching between modes to use the numpad. Also the cord for the keyboard was detachable and after 7 months of use would just fall out the back of the keyboard with the slightest movement. For the price paid here though it's a good buy. To be honest I placed an order too just to quick flip the keyboard on eBay and make £20 or keep as a spare but ended up cancelling when people started reporting receiving the devastator bundle. I don't care for the keyboard but I'm just glad I FINALLY get my money back from them as for 2 days they denied taking payment until PayPal proved it to them. I now have my money back at last and am happy again. I do see that some people have had an OK experience during this issue but in my personal experience I have not had so much as an apology from anyone at Argos for basically trying to steal my money. I have bought plenty from Argos over the years but as far as them getting any more business from myself in the future it's not going to happen.

I really can't see what everyone is getting so worked up about! I ordered one of these at the beginning (Weds evening) and to be honest I couldn't see them honouring anything. The fact that CM have stumpted up and said they will give you a decent keyboard be it not a blue one for £33 I think thats pretty impressive. I'll be happy with whatever colour it is! :sunglasses:

Its choice, we can't tell you which, reds require little force to press (maybe good for old person?) browns have alittle bump half way so you know you have pressed them, both are going to be the same noise and are essentially the same apart from the bump and have the same force required.

Yes give them a call, dont use that number though use 0800 0232227 freenumber directly to home deliverys. Ask them to add a note to your order to specify which one you want Brown or Red.

Your comment shows your ignorance when it comes to mechanical keyboards, 60% and 80% keyboards. Mechanical Cherry MX keyboards offer a superior typing experience, and less fatigue over prolong used however experienced and touch typists will notice that the use of the number pad and direction key equate to less than 1% of typing therefore unless you are an accountant there is no benefit. Short keyboards allows for a more natural stationary position and shorter travel to mouse which provides significant health benefits in the long term such as RSI, back pain, shoulder pain etc..

Awesome job man, question answered, would like to add:- backlit keys can be seen in total darkness! Libertas you need back lit keyboard and if you ordered this and got lucky either would work but brown would be better than red (the original keyboard had blue MX switches and would be clicky as f**k, those people watching telly would be watching the teachers and frowning instead! IMHO).

I don't game. I just needed a good quality lit keyboard for two 60 year old teachers to use for household admin work and schoolwork (whilst others are watching tv in the same room) - what switches should i request please?

Needed for quiet typing, where characters can be easily seen in dim light.

Well reds have a very low pressure needed to press them, they can be used for typing but they are specificity designed for gaming.
Browns are like a mix between blue and red, they have a bump half way down and are slightly heavier that you can feel while typing (takes more force to push it down)
Browns are generally the preferred switch if you are typing & gaming.

Reds are linear switches, browns are Tactile. With browns you will feel a bump when the key activates, with red its just a smooth key with a low push force.

3. Nice Mr Darren had a long discussion with the supervisor and got back to me with how they would like to honor the original order at the original stated price, however, for only 1x per customer - I initially ordered 3! - Not greedy, just needy OK!?
3. He mentioned that I would have to go through the whole order process and again returned with how they're currently out of stock. Advised to call back in 2 days.

I can now cherry pick (excuse the pun) - BROWN will do!

Well, baring in mind all that has transpired & what you payed for what you got, you'd have to be extremely ungrateful and one hard-faced mother to complain about which switches you get and try & exchange it!!! Either sell or look for a swap with someone in this thread. For what I can work out, if you're not happy with the one you get (they have stated a number of times there are no blues left), you get a refund or a horse***t sandwich.

Actually Argos and Amazon's supply chain is becoming very similar, Argos provides a estimates based on their normal process, this is however not normal due to the volume and changes in the what is being provided by the manufacturer. Much like Amazon who won't update you until a supplier has updated them, this is what has happened, Cooler Master can't really give estimates so Argos can't give updates.

Apparently so, I cancelled mine as soon as we where told its devastator, but apparently it never actually went through and they cancelled the cancellation when I called to enquire.

That text is pretty much automated. If you cancelled then you won't receive anything.

The orders are being handled directly by Cooler Master (confirmed in the a phone call with Argos), who will be using their own delivery method (unconfirmed who it is) and will relay when they have dispatched the keyboard; the 23rd January is incorrect and was Argos's original estimate.

I just called again, the lady on the phone said EVERY order is delayed because of the sheer volume of them.
She said by the end of the next week everyone's orders should be deliveried in either Brown or Red as no blues available.

For anyone who wants to call and enquire 0800 0232227 is a free number that gets directly through to the home delivery department. I didn't even wait on hold.

It's a bit more than a few quid £80-£70 down to £33 is a great saving. People are just dissapointed that they canceled their order because they would risk it. They could have easily returned it with very little amount of hassle and it was all free. But you have to be in it to win it, and some people were in it and just canceled it.

I know what you mean about the money sometimes taking a few days to be returned into the account. The problem is though they are denying taking payment so won't issue a refund. PayPal have evidence they have taken out the money so I have just left it with them to sort out now. Kinda glad I paid through PayPal through or I fear I may have lost £30. That is what has got me heated, the fact that they don't really know what they are doing. Not the fact that I lost out on a few quids worth of savings for a keyboard I didn't need.

I agree it would be nice for all who purchased to be compensated equally. But then I find one or two of the wall of texts on here pathetic, how mad you're getting over this. A mistake was made, you've tried to capitalise on that mistake. They offered all a refund. That should be all we get really. The price was unbelievably low compared to the RRP, most of us knew it was either a limited amount of stock being cleared or a mistake. Either way, we were going to be lucky to stumble across it.

I've never quite understood the idea of being able to demand what was listed. I know it can be frustrating when items are mispriced - but I personally would say it's at the companies discretion what they do in that scenario. And you can choose to do business with whatever business you want. Instead of get so irate and write huge posts complaining about this huge injustice!! You've missed out on capitalising on a mistake by Argos, move on.

I like to rant about things and I reserve my right to as I am a compete and utter t**t. I know it and I wouldn't want to be any other way. Becides, I haven't had a refund from them, and as far as they are concerned they have not got my money. On the other hand PayPal have said they have got my money and are prepared to prove it to them. I don't care about this keyboard, it was only going to be a spare in any case. I dont want for money and I know £30 is nothing but the idea that they have basically stolen from me at this point and are denying it is quite troubling to me.

I'm not interested in policies as long as I get my product cheaper. As long as I get great customer service I'm happy. I always have and seen as though they have just won number 1 for customer service again I can't be alone in thinking this. Yes they are a retail devouring monster as you put it but I don't care, we all know Argos will fall and be no more. It may not happen overnight but it will happen. I have a friend who used to work for Amazon and she said they would undercut retail shops prices even if they where losing money from the sale just to take the sale away from the high Street shops and I am fine with that. Not everyone will share the same opinion and that's fine too, but they are probably the ones still paying more money for the same product.

No it's not going particularly well, but I do not believe bullish companies like Amazon deserve a 'halo' of any sort.
From my experience they have some of the worst, by-the-book policies I've ever seen from an online retailer. Amazon is not a good thing and never has been. There's nothing friendly about them, it's a retail devouring monster.

Honestly if they had just refunded all customers instead of singling out a subset for special treatment AND they had dealt with the issue in a timely fashion with good communication I wouldn't have an issue.

If they had screwed up and then provided bad customer service and bad communication, but apologized and offered to fulfill the order as a good will gesture I wouldn't have had an issue.

If xdreamzy hadn't made the comments he/she made, I would have stopped at a one line "bunch of idiots" comment and moved on.

If they could say sorry (read the announcement, they are incapable of using the word, it's not just xdreamzy) then maybe I'd empathize with their situation a little more.

They did none of these things. Bad customer service, bad communication, publicly and arbitrarily treating customers in different ways, sending someone without the relevant experience to deal with the situation on here and not apologizing for a situation they know they had a hand in. All of that from a company that "won't let it's fans be disappointed" is unforgivable.

This is why Argos will go the way of the other high street shops, down the closing down route. Seriously, with company's like Amazon out there now who offer fantastic customer service, better prices, more services etc they should really be treating their customers like gold. Instead in this case loads have been fobbed off, people have had different items, different options and different stories told. They have handled it terribly and it shows me that Argos are a mickey mouse operation. I mean how long did not take them to adjust the listing to where people could no longer purchase it? It was about a day after they new about the issue. Totally laughable response times, company is a joke, customer services are useless.They still have my money I have no item, tried to cancel 3 times and told it is cancelled and they don't have my money. PayPal have now confirmed they have got my money, probably have to make a claim against them. I could go on longer but there was so much wrong with this item listing and the way it has been handled that I will just simply never shop there again. I give them a few years before they are just another company closed down, and with customer service like this I think they will only be missed by a few.

To be honest honest I expected a refund. Its pretty cool that coolermaster decided to step in. Some pretty good faith publicity for them. I doubt the actual no. of keyboards sold is in the thousands, yet I do feel it is unfair that those who actually received the wrong item dont get an exchange. Argos could have easily cancelled everyones orders who hasn't yet received it.

No you haven't, you haven't addressed a single complaint, you've just jumped on a single line comment about the mess you have created and told me how lucky I am to be dealing with you as opposed to some other even worse company. In any case you never got me as a customer, I've never seen/used your product (although it seems I did pay for it as the money has now left my card).

But, then accuracy isn't a company strength is it?

Tip: Next time you get an unhappy customer and there is no doubt there has been a screw up on your side, use the word "sorry" at least once in your response. It's also good practice to take the conversation private immediately as to do otherwise can lead to embarrassment. Oh and try to (at least publicly) treat all of your customers in the same way.

I should have said this earlier. The keyboards will be dispatched by courrier and will arrive within 2 (working?) days, I wouldn't count the weekend... And yes, The assistant that phoned me did say red or brown "backlight", which i assume she meant as the cherry mx switch colour as it there is no other way they would correspond to a mechanical quickfire tk.

Also it is confirmed by Coolermaster that they are Quickfire tk keyboards...

Honestly it just feels like a bit of a kick in the teeth that the people who received the item first and verified that the product sent out was neither of the two described on the page are the ones who got shafted. If you're going to send out the 'correct product' to the thousands of people who haven't yet received the item, what's the harm in going the full way in customer service and offering the handful that cancelled after hearing it was the wrong item or received the wrong item the opportunity to have the situation rectified? Especially as your words quite clearly state multiple times that you're trying 'to keep disappointments and unhappy customers to a minimal'.

I dunno, I feel the problem isn't different between the groups and yet the outcome appears to be so.

I've been given a response from Argos, I don't need to be told again in a public forum. I merely expressed an opinion and will take that opinion in to future purchasing decisions.

If you want me to elaborate:

1) The advert was garbage, the model name was unclear, the code was for one keyboard, the picture was for another... neither of which was the one intended to be supplied. How does a product go up for sale with so many mistakes, I assume Cooler Master had to approve the page, I assume Argos was provided the information by someone. I seriously doubt that Argos would use the description of the keyboard they did without some input from Coolermaster. It wasn't just "unclear" it was wrong, blatantly so.
2) Nobody at Argos Customer Services had clue what was going on when I contacted them, to be fair I blame Cooler Master, at least in part for that. The communication between Argos and Cooler Master appears from the outside to have been dreadful. That may be down to one or both of you, I chose to give neither of you the benefit of the doubt.
3) I didn't say "cancel my order" I said I do not want a Devastator, if that's what you intend to ship cancel it. I was promised on my initial call a response by e-mail which I never received so when I received a ready for dispatch mail I tried again and was told "definitely Devastator, I'll cancel it". Bad communication, poor customer services and just downright wrong as other people were being told at the same time (16:30 this afternoon) that they would receive an equivalent keyboard to the one they ordered.
4) 48 hours down the road the issue still isn't resolved... all that has been received is a mail saying "We'll ship you something... don't know what yet, we'll see what we have.", worse, that mail has been shipped to people who cancelled their order. It appears that Cooler Master wanted a "look what you could have won" moment with their prospective customers.

But hey, my opinion, maybe it's just sour grapes, who takes any notice of potential customers anyway. Just tell me I've been treated no worse than any other awful company would.

I've received customer service from Tesco that was 100x better than here (and they probably initially screwed up worse than you).

I've dealt with Thermal Take, Corsair, Kingston, Fractal Designs, Acer and other premium IT brands and never had these issues. Don't tell me that I should not have an opinion just because other companies are even worse, I don't doubt that other companies treat their customers worse than you treat yours, I chose not to deal with them either.

The contempt shown in the first paragraph of your response to a one line comment shows exactly why I made the comment in the first place and is quite frankly staggering!

Now about feeling aggreived about being one of the people who cancelled. I'm allowed, if I chose, to feel that way. Personally I think the customer who calls customer services to point out a problem, who gives feedback and chases and points to the forums where their company is being discussed is of value. The person who sits and waits for the company to ship the product even when they know there is an issue is passive and is unlikely to become an advocate of the company no matter the result. You chose to reward passive consumers (maybe they are your target audience? Although most premium brands prefer advocates). The ones who speak up about things, good and bad are treated worse. I think the fact that you are treating the two sets of people differently is wrong, I think the fact that you are treating potential advocates worse than passive buyers is, well, stupid.

But again, only my opinion and it's worth very little, especially to Cooler Master and Argos.

I did indeed receive a Devastator which was definitely a disappointment and I was expecting it to be either the TK or the XTi based on the mix up in descriptions, but definitely not the Devastator. Considering the item has now been changed on the site, would there be a possibility of arranging a replacement item? I mean if we're getting technical, the listing is now the right product so I should be getting the product that I had expected to order. There's no way you're telling me the product has gone up to £70 now but is still a Devastator.

Hey Musa, After further investigation we found that the reseller has combined several different products together and created the wrong product name, with the wrong description and the wrong images, this also led to the pricing to be wrong as all the info was made unclear. Under normal circumstance orders should have been cancelled however we have teamed up with the reseller to keep disappointments and unhappy customers to a minimal by honouring most orders with the Quickfire TK in either Cherry MX Blue, Brown or Red switches. However If you did receive the devastator keyboard bundle or the QuickFire TK and you was expecting the QuickFire XTi we can only suggest you to decide if you wish to keep the product you've received or return the product back to the reseller.

NO WHERE on that page did it ever mention ANYTHING about the devastator so how could the original listing be for it. Plus no where on your website can you see the devastator combo for sale. This is clearly a very unfair situation for people who received the devastator as the people who didn't manage to get their order in on time for next day delivery of the "original listing" are now getting the correct keyboard that should have arrived for myself and many others in the first place. How can you say that you will not exchange it when it was clearly the wrong product sent out.

Hey Alec and many other customer who may have purchased this product, I can understand your frustration about you cancelling your order, however as mentioned in several pages ago, The product was listed with the incorrect prices, images and description. Under normal circumstance from any company the order would have been simply cancelled however as we know it would be leading to disappointment to our alot of our fans therefore we have decided to support this situation by honouring orders with the QuickFire TK in either Cherry MX Blue, Brown or Red.

We are aware that some customers have received the Devastator keyboard combo from their order this is due to the original listing was actually the Devastator but it was listed unclear with a mixture of products combined together therefore we are unable to exchange this product to the Quickfire TK however Argos will accept returns should you wish not to keep the devastator. I understand even this message may not satisfy what you maybe seeking however we have done everything possible to try and keep each customer who have ordered the product happy.

Cancelled mine via live chat yesterday when I thought devadtators were being sent out. But no confirmation of cancellation email, my order still tracks on the website. My best guess is that it will be the Quickfire TK we will get, but I notice that when tracking my order on the Argos website, the link for the product still has the same pictures and description but now a price of £69.99. The thing is, the picture is of the more expensive Quickfire XT (it has seperate arrow keys, unlike the TK).

Tbh, I'd be happy with the TK but am crossing my fingers for the XT!

I've had a text saying
"The keyboard you have ordered... for Cooler Master CM Storm - Blue is unavailable in this colour. The item we will despatch has a different colour backlighting."

You would think if they've messed up the model too, that they would admit that in the text too. When I track my order, it says 32.99 for Cooler Master CM Storm Keyboard - Blue. And when I click on it. it goes to the £69 version.

Admittedly I know I'm being hopeful, but will be interesting to see what comes tomorrow.

Still having confusion with my purchase even after numerous calls and chat trying to cancel it. This is the last time I EVER shop with Argos. There is a reason I usually just shop with Amazon because if it was to happen with Amazon it would have been sorted in minutes and I know I would have got the answers I wanted. With Argos I still haven't got an answer at all. They said the order has been cancelled and the money has been taken but will be refunded. On the other hand they are sending me delivery updates etc. Honestly, last time I EVER shop with Argos, total shambles of a company with terrible customer services.

Apparently the order is still placed but they send a message to the supplier to cancel the order, so I got confirmation they are honouring the deal and they are sending a message to not cancel it lol

I got this text too about an hour ago and they've told me on the live chat it's a 'Higher Spec Keyboard with Red Backlighting'
I'm gonna wait and see but i'm expecting it to be a Quickfire TK (Or better seeing as they specifically said higher spec) with Red Switches.
I'd prefer browns but I'm not complaining for the price.

When it comes to the quickfire, the backlight colour is quite significant as it also indicates the type of cherry switches the keyboard will have.

Blue LED = Cherry MX Blue switches
White LED = Cherry MX Brown switches
Red LED = Cherry MX Red switches
Green LED = Cherry MX Green switches

So it's not just a cosmetic change. At this price, you can't really complain with any type of cherry switch, but I really hope i'm getting either Blue or Brown switches...at least it won't be the devastator bundle though :smile:

I'll be happy with brown or red. If I had the choice I would have bought in that order instead of the blue, if the price was the same which it wasn't - good result

For those with devastators, I would return the item for a replacement - for what you ordered, they have clearly shipped the wrong item and have made a pricing error, regardless of the colour you bought a mechanical keyboard so expect a mechanical keyboard not a membrane keyboard, and they have now set a precedent by dispatching alternative colours not refunds which should compensate most sane people at this price

Customer services just gave me this memo (sorry if its already been mentioned):

· All customers have been sent an Sms or Email (where we don’t have a mobile number) to advise.
· Due to limited stock we are actively contacting all customers who have ordered a quantity greater than one to advise that only one keyboard will be supplied and all but one keyboard will be cancelled from their order.

I placed my order about 7pm on Wednesday and got the email today about the "upgrade", so I'd imagine it's just people who ordered on Wednesday with enough time for it to be sent out the same day (before the mistake was noticed) who are out of luck.

I can confirm that the keyboard that you will receive is 100% the Quickfire TK either in Cherry MX Blue, Brown or Red, Cooler Master and Argos have been working endlessly to ensure that loyal customers like us are not disappointed by this error listing and error pricing.

p.s unfortunately the Green switch version is not available in the UK so you won't receive that colour,

Same issue with me. I have called Argos today and asked if my order was cancelled as the pending paypal payment has been taken this morning. Only to be told they haven't taken payment. Called PayPal up and it turns out they have taken payment. Was advised if I do not receive some kind of info soon from Argos regarding this order whether it be sending the product or sending a cancellation notice then a claim will be going in against them via PayPal. I see no other way now as the people at Argos are clearly Neanderthal's.

Spoken to Argos this morning. I spent last night trying to cancel but it didn't go through. Lady said that the cancellation request didn't go through and I should be getting a delivery today of the keyboard advertised (not the Devestator)

Except it's now nearly lunch time with no text/calls from the delivery group.

Speaking to customer services it's definitely the Devastator that's being dispatched, I asked them to either send the keyboard in the picture or nothing yesterday, had a dispatch note today, so back on the phone. Apparently they are supposed to be cancelling orders like mine, it seems it's a known issue.... and they "aren't sure how mine slipped through".

Last minute internal e-mail to get mine cancelled and should see the credit on my card.

Same here, I tried to cancel the dam thing twice by calling them twice. Both times they said it was cancelled and guess what, this morning they charged my PayPal account for the amount instead of cancelling the order. I'm so angry with them that if anything other than the quickfire keyboard comes through im heading into Argos and smashing someone round the head with the devastator keyboard. To me the staff doing the chat support ain't got a clue, differing answer's to queries all day, to say its being looked into , this has gone on all day, they will not know the difference from one keyboard to the next, especially as stock is coming direct from supplier and not Argos, I cancelled this afternoon, but still not received cancellation email and PayPal is still pending, normally get a refund message to PayPal even if it takes 5days to clear,

Yes the image and the EAN were wrong, but it quite clearly states in the description of the item, that the keyboard has Cherry MX Blue keys and backlit. There is not a single thing about that webpage that would describe a membrane keyboard.

But for those people that actually had their stuff delivered already technically you guys already bought it and have a legal binding contract. So its not a matter of simply cancelling the order, I guess you could argue and try and get the right keyboard for the price you paid.
However for the others, since they haven't dispatched it, they will just cancel the order using their online selling clause, which goes along the lines that an order is only accepted once its actually dispatched.... etc

This isn't a missprice as they we're claiming it to be earlier... Its a complete **** up of them adding stuff to their catalgue. A wrong product is falsely advertised at a good price. Considering these keyboards go in the US for about $80 so £50. Argos aquiring them for such a price isn't too hard to believe, as well as dropping 35% (ish) off for "online exlusive" deal. To me it seems like a case of false advertising.

I finally have some reliable info from a family member who works for Argos that this IS the devastator bundle. Apparently as previous comments have said there has been an issue with the distributor and the entire listing is wrong. I ordered this way before this deal was even posted as I spotted it somewhere else and mine arrived today. It is NOT and I repeat NOT the XT or XTI. As far as I can see, this deal is still available and it is showing a CM Storm keyboard still with Cherry MX keys. If they say this is for the Devastator, that is pretty shabby indeed to still be advertising it.
I am expecting my keyboard to be Cherry MX Blue, and if I get something else, I will be seriously miffed. We will wait and see.

Requesting opinions: My family needs and illuminated keyboard - where the keys are clear and visible in dim light. We only use it for spreadsheets and word - no gaming (office work).

Yeah so all the lady said was "I am sorry for any confusion caused. I will need to raise this with our recovery team to be looked into with our supplier."
She can't give me a definite answer as to which would be given, but when she checked and sent me the link to the keyboard on the cooler master site, it was the devastator that came up.

I wouldn't worry if cash flow isn't a problem. Flubit won't have any problem accepting the wrong item back and they'll arrange and pay for the return tthen issue a full refund. If bought directly from Argos will have a better case for getting it exchanged for the advertised keyboard but if not, they'll issue a full refund too. I think, given the price, it's worth waiting for the bit of hassle it may bring. That's just the way I see it and how much of a pain it'll be for me but of course, everyone's in a different situation and getting around isn't easy for everyone.

Just some info for anyone interested. Just spoke to Argos and as far as they are concerned this should be the mechanical keyboard and not the devastator bundle. But if it is the devastator bundle and people are trying to avoid it and buying it from Flubit instead then don't. I've just spoke to Flubit also and they are using only using the same supplyer as Argos using this URL to the matching item. So if Argos send the devastator bundle then Flubit will send the same she said.

Anyone got information about how blue switches are suited for FPS gaming? Some say blue aren't best for them, but I'd be interested in knowing why.

"cm storm" is their name for any peripheral under the coolermaster range, if they supply the octane/devastator then they'll have quite a few returns on their hands as that wasn't pictured plus the description is copypasted from the tk keyboard - those cheaper ones mentioned are membrane keys.

why don't you knock it off with them negative waves :S

seriously, no idea what i'm getting and chances are i will hate noisy blue switches after years of membranes, but if it's the TK i quite like it's slimmer form factor and i'm after a new keyboard - shame there is no dedicated media keys (can't be expensive to add a couple with membrane switches to the top of a mechanical keyboard)

These cherry type keyboards came as standard with a lot of the old beige boxes in the 90s.

This is the price they should be. Although I'd claim cheaper still without the 'gamer tax'. All other computer equipment has become much cheaper over the years.

Voted hot, as obviously a saving.

There used to be the IBM CLICK keyboards which I was always in awe of.
A friend of mine had one of those and was very casual about it. He didn't realise what he had on his hands.

I bought my first Cherry keyboard back in around 2001 and this keyboard (which gets far more use than what a normal person would use it) has lasted 15 years so far, and is still rock solid.

I was thinking about buying another mech keyboard, but then I thought, "why bother"?
When this keyboard breaks, I shall buy another Cherry branded, mechanical keyboard. Amazon sell the Cherry keyboard for around £60.

Oh and when I use the keyboards at my work place, the difference is night and day. Non mechanical keyboards are spongy and not as responsive.

I'm glad that many more people have finally woken up to mechanical keyboards and are not buying those el-cheapo keyboards that microsoft and logitech sell. Those keyboards are truly terrible and not worth more than £5 each.

It was more the point that it's not comparable with the keyboard in this deal.

Membrane are fine for occasional use. I was replacing one every 6-8 months. It was cheaper to invest in a good keyboard than keep replacing membrane ones.

I personally couldn't live without one after using the Corsair K70 for PC gaming/typing after having had one for a couple of years now. The difference really is incredible. A good mouse/keyboard are absolutely essential to have the best experience using a computer or gaming IMO.

We should never have moved away from them. A company I worked for half-filled a skip with IBM Model M keyboards (the Holy grail) circa 1998, to be replaced with more aesthetically pleasing or ergonomic ones. I pulled 4 out where 3 sat in the cupboard for 10 years before realising they'd become a thing, later letting them go on eBay for what I thought was top money, around £40. Seems like a bargain now they have gamer tax applied.

I'm using the keyboard on sale to type this comment and I'm still going to buy one I love it that much!

It's so sturdy. The backlight is nice and even and can be very bright, but it's a lovely shade of blue. Media keys can be useful if you're into that thing. And the blue switches are just what you'd expect from a blue switch. Loud but satisfying.

However, my favourite thing about this keyboard is it's footprint. Due to the combined numpad and arrow keys it really is a compact keyboard.

All the "stock" images of coolermaster keyboards show the US layout yet normally UK retailers only get EU layout keyboards. Was certainly the case with my Quickfire TK. We'll see how this one turns out when it arrives :smiley:
