CONTINENTAL ULTRA GATORSKIN 700 X 25 BIKE TYRE
The Continental Ultra Gatorskin Bike Tyre is TOUGH. With a bead to bead Duraskin layer and aramid belt beneath the tread, these Bike Tyres can shrug off pretty much anything. Plenty of grip comes from the softer compound, even in the wet. This makes the tyre perfect for winter training and even Audax routes.
Strap these on and go chew the miles up.

The wire bead is heavy, almost 100 grams more per tyre then the folding bead. I have had some issues with high speed wobble when cornering over 60km down hill.
They definitely help stop punctures, got back this weekend with a couple of small bits a flint embedded in the front tyre but no puncture. It took 1000km to get a flat where before I had been getting multiple flats on normal tyres. Just got sick of buying and fitting new inner tubes. As for getting them on/off yes they are a little stiffer but still easy enough with plastic tyre leavers.
The 4 seasons would be better but best price I have seen these go for are at least £20 dearer.

Are these wire bead or folding? Thanks.

At that weight they will be the wire bead version.

I used to use these all the time, but now run Schwalbe Durango Plus due to superior puncture resistance. 5000 miles so far and no punctures yet. I used to get on average 1 per thousand miles with Gator Skins.
Schwalbe are a similar price to Continental.

I can only confirm earlier comments, I have had no punctures since switching to these tyres front and back (5 months and counting) but an absolute PAIN to put on! Was getting punctures left, right and centre with my previous pair, specialized armadillos, which were recommended by a courier of all people!

Got these on front and back... didn't have a puncture for 4/5 months, was getting them every other week before. Quality tyre.
As for removing, you just need to make sure the opposite side of the tyre is pushed right into the rim and they should be fairly easy to remove.

I'm not buying beaded Gatorskins again. Although great tyres, a pain to get on and off. Pay a bit more and get the folding version.

True that. Plus they're lighter and more supple/comfortable

Continental bike tires? Hot! Cheaper than the the rrp? What are you waiting for...
Have some heat OP! As others have already said, say good by to punctures, Conti's are top notch :sunglasses:

I got a new pair of these from Halford last week. I got a puncture at the back the next day and the front the day after.

I had these tyres and found them pretty good, but I do agree they are such a pain to remove and put on rims that I swapped them for Continental 4 seasons folding tyres.

I had these and they are great, not bad wear wise either, also no problems getting them on off either. (swapped front to back and onto new rims with no issues)

Great tyres, but i,ve been told if you get a punture on the run, they are very hard (virtually impossible with plastic tyre levers) to get off the rim, worth keeping in mind
