Just touching base to say that we've just experienced our first week of the Cactus. It's an absolutely fantastic vehicle for this sort of money, and I'm more convinced than ever that the metallic purple in Flair spec is the best combo available! In the metal it's a very fetching vehicle, ahead of the curve that will stay relevant in years to come. I don't think it's a coincidence that most of the naysayers are of the burburry-cap-wearing, 15-year-old noisy WRX driving variety!

NVS, and Simon in particular, were an absolute pleasure to deal with. All apprehensions regarding leasing have disappeared due to this experience. Can't recommend them enough!

I'm in the same boat but haven't heard anything about payments starting on the 30th. I can't see how they can start charging when we've not received the car and haven't signed anything to that effect. They'll not be getting any money off me till the car arrives.

26 Apr 16 #131
Still waiting to hear back from them. We were told the stock arrived on the 17th and we'd get paperwork within 72 hours but that's long gone and I've not heard anything.

Beginning to regret using NVS, they make little effort to keep me informed of progress. I only hear anything when I email them and it's rare I get any meaningful update. I get dates but nothing happens on those dates.

I've handed my old car back so am now without a car until this arrives.

The most worrying thing is that I'm told my contract has to start on the 30th regardless of whether I get the car or not.

3 Feb 16 #120
A question for experienced leasers ...

On an 18 month lease - with say a 10,000 annual mileage option ...
Does that mean max miles for 18 months is 15,000, or do you get 10,000 miles year one and 10,000 miles year two (even though you only have the car for six months in year two)?
tappy
1 Feb 16 #119
My local garage couldn't match it, they couldn't even get near. They offered us the Flair at £155pm, 3 month deposit and 8k miles pa, 24m contract.

We went with NVS at £118 with no deposit (10k miles, 18m). Just placed the order now for it in Deep Purple.

If anyone else is looking they have Flair models in stock ready to go in some colours (white, light grey and red I think) and can do other colours for the end of March.
pinkstacey
1 Feb 16 #118
Retail salesmen probably don't even know what a PCH is. Contact the Bristol branch as above, get a quote emailed, then get your local to match. You can always phone around a few of the local dealers. They can definitely do it as they all are on the same system. They just need to be trained what buttons to press.

31 Jan 16 #113
Ok I don't understand why people don't hassle their dealers, they all have access to this deal, it's just the retail employees not doing their job. I leased a diesel cactus flair for £118 inc vat at Xmas. This deal is for the petrol instead which is still a great price. The turbo version was a £111+vat. Any doubters call Kieran at Citroen Bristol!

tappy
30 Jan 16 #106
Very tempted by the 1+18 deal at £118 for 18months.

We'd been looking at the Captur which we prefer the look of but can't justify the extra.

I've put in an enquiry so should hear back soon. For those who have already spoke to them: could you choose any options other than colour? There are a few no cost extra's I'd be interested in. Does the glass panoramic roof come as standard? I can't see the option to add it on the website.
nickyjg
30 Jan 16 #105
Would have loved that to be the case, and was my first port of call, but they were nowhere near. About 30% more expensive on the Flair. There is some very worthwhile kit with the NVS Flair offer. Top of the range spec, with metallic paint, and a couple of option packs included.

£130 per month (and a service) for all your motoring needs for 18 months in an extremely capable and well specced brand new car. Imo it's definitely best bang for buck motoring available bar none.

29 Jan 16 #98
Amazing deal. Personally I like the look of the Cactus. Yes, the front does look better than the rear, but I could live with it for 18 months. This could be the best lease deal I've seen for the kit you get.

For those that have the contract details what is the price per mile over the set 10k figure?
Service required in the 18 months? Must be done by Citroen?
Any hidden costs?
wanstall99 to mat_smart
29 Jan 16 #99
I've just put an order in for one and inquired about the service and was told that the service interval is 1 year or 16,000 miles so it will require a service, which has to be at a main Citroen dealer.
nickyjg to mat_smart
29 Jan 16 #100
I thought the cactus deals before Christmas were the best bang for buck ever seen, but this 10k £132 all in Flair with loads of options is now probably the best I've ever seen, and I've been lurking about 18 months around lease deals!

Some people I know end up with mobile phone bills approaching this every month. And they are they same sort of people who go and blindly take a 15-20% apr loan in order to buy a 5 year old thrashed motor that's been tarted up and overpriced. Lose money the whole duration on it, tax, mot, and countless hours and days trying to get rid of it a year or two later.

It's not as if it's much of a compromise, either. This is an award winning vehicle with rave reviews. Only hope that there will be similar deals on as good a vehicle in 18 months time!

Re: hidden costs. There is 1yr/16,000 mile service interval, so one will be needed. I can't see that running much more than £125. Tyres are always going to be needed for any car you will put 15,000 miles on in 18 months.

I might see what comes on them, perhaps source some part worns 7mm of a superior brand and put straight on, and keep originals for return.
nickyjg
28 Jan 16 #82
Thanks OP. Have "cactus lease" as a saved term since the last deals a while back, but the missus wasn't ready for her test then! When this popped up I was straight on it.

Well, not exactly this, but the £118.80 (£132 all in) Flair deal.

Metallic Purple with an expected delivery around 8-9 weeks. Just had acceptance email after putting in first thing this morning. Will call in morning to finalise. Simon at NVS very professional thus far. My first dip into leasing, after many months sussing it!

Went to see them close up in the flesh, and (don't scoff!) the Flair in deep purple I saw was quirky, but honestly, actually very striking, and not a million miles from the premium small suv look of an Evoque.

As far as I can see, there is no way to get anywhere near this much car and kit for this type of money.

Excellent deal!

Someone sell me on leasing > buying. Me and the Mrs are looking at getting new cars; I can't get my head around paying £2.4k over 18mths but then having nothing to show for it, rather than spending say £5k over 36mths on loan and owning the car at the end of it.
Or are lease deals aimed more at people who want brand new £10k+ cars, and aren't in the market for £5-6k second hand city cars?
For example, after 18mths,what would be the final payment be on this car to own it outright?

(Genuine questions, please someone educate me!)
skinrush to sionyboy
28 Jan 16 2 #91
I think the attraction of a lease deal like this is that you have a brand new car that would have cost you, say 14k to buy. It will remain in warranty for the term of the lease and cost you in the region of £140 per month.

If you were to borrow 5k as you suggest over 36 months, that'll cost you between £150 and £160 per month. And for that, you will probably be buying a car that is between 5 and 10 years old, depending on what you go for. It will have a maximum of 1 year of warranty, if you buy it from a dealer, and no warranty at all, if you buy it privately.
Yes, you'd own it after 3 years of debt, but by that time, it'd be something between 8 and 12 years old. Virtually worthless.
So the attraction of a lease deal, is that you get mostly hassle free motoring for a modest monthly cost.
shapalando to sionyboy
29 Jan 16 #96
lease deals are for getting a new car regularly, Id rather someone else lose the depreciation than me and this car will depreciate more than what I have to spend on it in the 18 months.
This is my first and I have to say a very easy process, now I just have to wait for car to be built. Hopefully I still feel the same in 18 months but that's exactly why I've chose this as it's for such a shirt time.

The lease deal is hot, but it seems to me those door protector things are a complete gimmick. Much like door mouldings. They still get damaged then it's extra cost to repair. What about the other 90% of the car that doesn't have protection? They also look ridiculous.
jaydeeuk1 to chaffordred
28 Jan 16 #64
They can still get scratched and dented, but whilst pulling out dents and professionally spraying a door skin might cost £600+, one of these panels could be replaced at home DIY in an hour or so for a fraction of the cost. Pretty much every area that sticks out has a plastic end cap. They're not to stop bodywork getting damaged in an accident, but stop trolley dings and doors being opened and banged in to the sides in low speed impacts. Which as a family car is incredibly useful.

MaximusRo
28 Jan 16 #62
very good deal, although usually with lease deals, you want a diesel engine (as you don't have to worry about DPF, EGR etc problems). However, for this price, it's insane not to...
haz818
28 Jan 16 #60
You pay 9 months equivalent as an initial payment followed by 17 payments of £81.35, adding in the £240 admin fee, the total is £2355 as per my example above.
haz818
28 Jan 16 #58
Re the £118.80pm Flair deal, you can get it for that price and pay (1+17) but after you factor in the admin fee it takes it to £132 per month

All options on the top of the range model flair model with 10k per annum and 18month deal:

Initial Rental of £118.80 + 17 monthly payments of £118.8 + admin fee 239.99 = 2378.39 total cost (£132.13 pm)

Initial Rental of £319.29 + 17 monthly payments of £106.43 + admin fee 239.99 = 2368.59 total cost (£131.59 pm)

Initial Rental of £551.76 + 17 monthly payments of £91.96 + admin fee 239.99 = 2355.07 total cost (£130.84 pm)

Initial Rental of £732.15 + 17 monthly payments of £81.35 + admin fee 239.99 = 2355.09 total cost (£130.84 pm)

Excellent price. The only new car you can buy and not worry parking in tescos next to some old couple in a Micra. The 1.2t is the best engine, 2.0 turbo diesel performance and economy from a tiny 1.2 turbo petrol. Servicing isn't that cheap though, factor in about £250 at a Citroen dealer first year.

Arm rest p*sses me off a bit if you put if down, makes hand brake hard to reach.

But its ride is fantastic, if you're used to hard BMW suspension and run flats and therefore have a knackered back, this is like sitting in your favourite arm chair floating along.

Ordered this for the same price with a different lease company, very happy with cheap motoring and niche looks for 18 months. Nothing comes close practicality and functionality wise at this price point.

82 flair with 10k miles per year works out at less than 1700 quid per year. Buying second hand one will see you lose more than that especially if you buy/sell at a dealer. I'm put off leasing by the horror stories of massive charges from tiny stone chips and the like but its very good value if you're not worried by that.

You don't have to justify owning one, if people laugh at you as you drive by just ignore them

I think the side panels are quite a good idea (not saying it looks great) good for stopping all the marks left on your car by people who throw their doors open hitting yours in the process!!
hisknibbs to claire0806

I'm of the same mind. Just a shame the sides have to be so ugly. Surely they aren't aerodynamic? Good spot OP, don't mean to diss you.

Perhaps it will become a new trend, sellotaping egg crates to car doors.

Out of interest, what is the total price over 18 months for this deal?

YES

Ah but when you pee me off I can switch my full beams on from behind you and shine them right into your cabin. And seat 6 adults in comfort which you can't do in pretty much anything else. And of course from the inside why do you care how ugly it is, you don't have to look at it and if you are insecure enough to care about what other people think then you have my sympathy...

I bought one of these earlier on in the year and the side panels are great...........no more inconsiderate people slamming their car doors in to you in car parks

I raise you Fiat Multipla (mk 1).

I actually quite like the Cactus, in the right colour, although I wouldn't say it's attractive as such.
