Where does it state it's "brand new"?
According to the sellers comments:
In which case, there's a chance that the buyer has already redeemed the £20 free credit

Wouldn't of been a £20 google play credit included if the item has been used there's a high chance it's been redeemed.

if this happens speak to google with proof of purchase and they will credit your google account

I doubt Google would have to any second hand item sold by Currys, it would be Currys responsibility . I reckon their would have been allot of people buying and returning these solely for the £20 voucher, you can't expect Goole to pay out twice on a promotion.

Exactly - customer returns with redeemed google credit.

I bought a Chromecast today from Currys. It said £20 free play credit ... when I set it up went to offers, there was no offer there!!! just a "free movie rent on us" that will expire in 2 days!!!!! am so disappointed, I wanted the £20 credit :disappointed: I feel hustled

I had that issue too - ring Google and they will sort you out. They sorted mine and were pretty good about it.
Hope that everyone buying one of these knows about the smart setup issue on BT Home Hubs with these otherwise it will cause you a major headache trying to sort it out - and I'm afraid Google tech support were useless for this bit!! It basically stops most programs from casting at all, including Netflix, BBC iPlayer and other premium services.
Easy to sort when you know exactly what the issue is!! Otherwise lots of pointless troubleshooting with Google including them telling you it's cos you are using a power block and not plugging directly into the mains...!?!

Try rebooting it once setup, the £20 offer should then show

£20 credit has been added without any trouble so I assume that previous owner didn't redeem the credit.
