Many cheap vitamin supplements use synthetic vitamins such as folic acid, which a relatively large amount of people's body's cannot use. Consuming such things actually stops the body from using more usable forms of the vitamin such as natural folates which are found in vegetables. Just by consuming the synthetic vitamin causes the body to become deficient of a crucial vitamin which protects the heart and circulation via lowering homocysteine and playing a crucial role in methylation. Many people can convert folic acid to the active compound needed by the body but a significant amount of people cannot.
People with a family history of circulatory problems such as heart disease, need to be very careful. Both my father and his father, my grandfather died of heart and circulatory disease well before they reached 60. I have significantly higher risk due to other illnesses therefore I am extremely careful what I consume. You might be okay or you might not. Something to watch out for are autoimmune illnesses, asthma, eczema, arthritis etc or even simple things such as hayfever which might seem unrelated, but is not. The increased histamine which partly leads to hayfever is just one effect which most people, including the medical profession, are unable to connect.

Centrum Advance 50+ - 30 tablets 4837029 £2.44 Save £2.45 Was £4.89
These are a total waste of money and could cause far more problems than they could ever solve because they are rubbish/cheap formulations. You would be better off saving your money rather than waste it on this rubbish. Centrum is a junk brand laden with cheap synthetic vitamins.

You are suggesting "synthetic" vitamins are somehow different to and less effective than "natural" ones.
Don't fall for the marketing, vitamin C is vitamin C.

Could cause what problems?
With regard to the effectiveness of vitamins, yes i agree that the perfectly health adult eating a perfectly healthy diet can get all they need from that. However we are not all perfectly healthy! I take vitamins (not these onea) as im a vegetarian so like to ensure I'm not missing out on what I need, and I work nights so in the winter I hardly see the sun - I need a bit of a vitamin d top up. Although I try and eat a good diet, some days I'm not scared to admit I dont eat perfectly - I'm human!

I'd like to know your reasoning for this. I think of them as good supplements if you don't have a balanced diet and I sometimes take them twice a week. Why do you think what you think?

30 Dec 15#65
it is a bit tricky, click and collect. You've to go to the point where you are required to confirm the address, step 4 I think of check out, and you edit the delivery address to add the store.
well you don't always need all the vitamins but the deficiencies are fulfilled where they are. I, for instance, need additional vitamin D because if my darker skin! If you want, I can refer you to a couple of actual research publications.

Likely a placebo effect. If you already eat healthily and have a varied balanced diet, these pills shouldn't make a difference. You shouldn't feel better because you had 3 times your RDA of Vitamin C, I don't think it works like that. Would be nice if it did though!
I have never heard of a doctor recommending routine vitamin supplements for an average, healthy member of the public.
Be aware that there are some risks to taking too many vitamins. This article goes through some recent evidence and gives some good recommendations.
Great deal though.

I thought this site was about saving money?? These are a total waste of money. The vast majority of people don't need supplements. Just because something is good does not mean more of it is better. Just eat OK and save money by not buying these. :man:

30 Dec 15#32
Just because they don't work for you doesn't mean others don't feel a benefit. I eat healthily as so do my children but still feel the benefit from taking these. My brother is a consultant and take vitamin tablets and is often the case Drs will recommend boasting the bodies requirements

Decided to go back and buy another 9 packs then for my aunt, she loves her vitamins lol. Just hope they have a good date on them because it sure is a lot of vitamins  lol.

Sorry toto123, I'm not sure as the ones ordered online won't be delivered in-store until Monday. That's why I thought I'd pop in to check and they were Sept 2017 so I'm assuming it'll be the same, if not more.

Just been in-store at Broadway Bradford & asked the guy to check how much it would be for 3 packs and it's £5.98 for half price & 3 for 2 but no glitch so ordered 9 more packs online as the expiry date is Sept 2017. However, you'll find they're a few pence cheaper in-store for the same packs & still really cheap but clearly not as good as half price and 3 for 1... LOL
