Hi, this is a handy little thing, especially if you only have a CD/Cassette player in your car and want to use a USB or phone to play your music.
Also it doubles up as a Handsfree bluetooth device.
It plays all audio by creating a signal on the radio and you just tune into it.
nifty and cheap, especially compared to installing a brand new stereo in the car :)

Ive got one, there not bad at all. Its better to have a poor radio signal as on a decent aerial it gets interference from other stations on or around the same frequency
Also lasted more than 2 weeks, currently 4 months, still going strong

disconnect your aerial and that way you focus attention on the device.

The unit has two USB Ports, can somebody test the charging from the USB Ports? The ebay unit I have has more power output on one of the USB's then the other, I am guessing because one of the USB Ports is designed for a USB stick.
My question is can I split the USB port which has more power output so I can charge two phones at once? If so what sort of splitter would I need? Ideally something small and simple to keep the unit compact, I don't mind covering the other USB port as I don't intend to use a USB stick in it.

mine from gearbest has Bluetooth and lets you play full audio mp3 YouTube, you name it lol
it also switches to calls once someone is ringing you

Mine had the word "Bluetooth" in the item heading but the advert itself made no claim to Bluetooth.
The cable in received is really rubbish. It doesn't click into the phone well and if you spin it around then it crackles.
I'm going to replace the cable. I guess the fact that you won't be using Bluetooth means you'll save your phones battery

To be fair the ebay listing doesn't claim anywhere that it does have Bluetooth. I just made a wrong assumption that they were the same thing. Can still make use of it with the line in and SD card so no great loss.

Mecoconuts: I don't really understand - I bought an additional one from GearBest and its identical to my original one was from Amazon except the new one came with a remote control. Don't know what you mean the Bluetooth one ONLY transfers audio from phone calls. Not true it transfers all audio.
dona3853: You're right there appears to be two versions. One which only works with audio by line in. This is a complete junk and rip off as the proper Bluetooh one is only £2 more from the likes of Gearbest.

Thanks this confirms what I found today. What I was picking up was an OBD device in my neighbours car not this transmitter. The ebay one doesn't connect via Bluetooth.

I bought from Ebay and it does exactly what i want it to do.....
BUT....it does appear there's 2 versions of this ...one WITH Bluetooth and one WITHOUT.
The Ebay one was NOT Bluetooth as the PHONE Symbol is missing on the BLUE Volume Button which appears to signify it.
It also appears that the Bluetooth one ONLY transfers calls audio....it does NOT transfer full audio, MP3, video, etc.

Are you able to see the device in Bluetooth settings even when it says line in on the screen?
Mine is also from eBay, I got the cable and remote too but I get nothing when trying to scan. I have tried two android phones

Yes mine was from ebay but its exactly the same as the one from gearbest with remote and cable. It finds the device and calls it something like 'car accessory' but can't connect. Only tried my Windows phone so will try other BT devices later.

Does this start playing from the point where it played till the last time when you start the car or remove the device?
Also, anyone that has stereo controls to change the volume, would that still work or do you have to use the remote control that comes with it, thanks.

Nothing much to work out tbh. Pair it with your phone. Set the FM frequency on both device and car radio. Wait till you heard the lady with the funny voice say its paired successfully and hit play on whatever phone app you're using.

There's nothing in the listing - either the description, specs or images - that suggest it supports bluetooth. You think they'd mention it, wouldn't you? I know it looks identical, but does not neccessarily mean it's the same. Though looking on eBay pointed me towards bluetooth compatible version and sold from UK. Costs a bit more though.

To be honest I actually originally bought this so that I could listen to LBC and podcasts in the car ie for speech. I wasn't expecting it to be good enough for music. I tested earlier with Spotify at extreme quality and an original CD of the same album playing them 10s out of sync and switch between the two. The CD was only marginally better and I'm serious audiophile with a far too expensive hi-fi. I was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality.

I'm not sure. As its a transmitter you choose a frequency on the radio that is free, set the frequency on the gadget and music from your phone comes out of your car stereo. I've updated the ebay item to one even cheaper, only £4.99, exactly the same as this one, item no. 252238750873

One last question, the ebay ad doesn't say anything about playing music from your phone via bluetooth. Is that feature not supported? The ebay add only mentions that you connect your music via USB and does not mention anything about having the music on your phone

25 Jan 161#21
The cheap ones are a pain as they can't navigate folders ie albums on your sd card/usb stick, just see them as 1000 tracks or so so just plays them as one big album, more expensive ones have a navigate button and allow you to save 6 frequencies for quick switching.
This is the one I got and is excellent:
When I bought mine I knew that the navigation would just be able to skip forwards / backwards through thousands of tracks. But what I like about it is that its really small and compact. The Satechi one looks interesting albeit a little expensive. But personally I would prefer to spend the money upgrading to a bigger micro SD card in the phone and using a music player app. I like being able to search and navigate with my phone. Also its more convenient even when stationary as my phone is in a windscreen mount rather than looking down towards the cigarette lighter.

I bought one from Amazon 3 days ago. I love it - sound quality is excellent. Only minor annoyance is the skip forwards / backwards for some strange reason. Also they controls aren't backlit. The comedic voice confirmations irritate some but I don't mind it.
