I've got one myself, and whilst it doesn't touch on my true 5.1 system, its not designed too. It improves the quality of the flat screen, the bass is pretty decent, and the clarity in tone is also pretty good. Volume isn't overly loud, however its loud enough to easily hear throughout the whole house. For £39 seriously i'm made up. (The 5.1 system a single speaker cost more than £39!)

sounds like a good deal. iam considering it for my computer (connect via Bluetooth) as iam fedup with the wire clutter of my Logitech 5.1 system. do you think it will be a good idea?

Anyone have one of these in use? Can't tell if it will go into standby once source detects no input (once the TV) is switched off and if it will go back up into the same state /volume etc one the TV is turned on next time? Returning an Alba unit purchased from Argos before Christmas as it doesn't power down. Once you switch it off it goes back to initial volume/source/bass settings so is hopeless for my mum. Just need a basic unit that once setup, goes on and off with the TV.

Bought this on a HUKD last month from TESCO. A superb upgrade for me over my TV Speakers. Sub is built in as this is a 2.1 system and volume can be cranked up without distortion to the speakers.

Got used heavily over Xmas and New year with the BT connectivity.

Does your TV have bluetooth to use as a BT speaker? Or a build in sub? or sound directed towards you not the wall its mounted on?

hmmm... I can definitely could hear/feel the difference between different speakers based on their Watt ratings, with no exceptions, the same for monitor speakers, computer speakers and so on. You might confuse something here, just turn the volume all the way up, you will immediately notice the more powerful speakers are louder, or have clearer sound, bigger bass, more sound depth etc

I've got two LG tv's in the bedrooms. Although both are less than 12 months old, neither has an optical or digital output but they do have component plugs for audio (one red, one white ... for phono plugs ?)
Will this sound bar be compatible ?

I had this from eBay a few months ago for 40 quid. Decent enough...big difference over normal tv speakers. Use it to connect my phone or iPad for louder music upstairs. Did have an issue connecting to a new to t v I purchased , but thought for the money still decent enough. Voting hit. If you want an upgrade, yes it's decent for the money, if you want super Sound pay more. Hot for 40.

I'm talking about using the heating effect on a wire as a daft measure of amplification.
I made no mention of speaker efficiency because it's a very different, & equally misunderstood, subject.

Well, we didn't buy this one after all.

But we bought a Panasonic soundbar instead. And no, it didn't work with our LG tv's. So we put the soundbar into the living room with our Panasonic tv and wired it up using a cheapo optical cable we got off Ebay. It works fine so all's good.

Except we still can't hear the tv's very well in the bedrooms lol ... no further forward hahaha

If you can still hear the other TVs in the house then may I express 3 possible options to consider?

1 - ask the upstairs occupants to turn the TVs volume down

2 - blast your soundbar and hope your neighbours don't mind the walls vibrating and your preference of tv viewing.

3 - consider soundproofing the walls so you can listen to your tv in complete un-interrupted privacy knowing full well nobody else can hear what your watching and vice versa :laughing:
