They are overrated. Half the time the manufacturers just abandon their software or services support within a couple years and concentrate on whatever their new models are doing. As mentioned you're better off with a plug and play device in many instances

Theres a reason why if you walk into the Walsall or Corby Argos Clearance bargains stores there are always pallet loads of 'Refurbished' Bush TV...... Huge failure rate.
That said it's not a bad price for what your getting but just don't be fooled into thinking your buying anything different to the other cheapo brand TV's you can buy in the supermarkets. Problem is it's getting hard to buy a low end TV now that isn't churned out of one of these cheap rebadging factories now as even the 'Known' brand names like Sharp, JVC, Panasonic are all licensing there name out for use by these factories as there budget range.

Can we have a quick show of hands as to how many of the 'this Bush tv is crap' commenters have actually owned this model?
Only saying this as I have a Tesco own brand Technika (24" 1080p) tv that I have for over 4 years now and it has a truly fantastic picture quality.
I'm looking to replace it as I want something bigger now, so I have done a TON of research into 43-50" tv's. It is only because of this that I now know that tv's can suffer from motion blur and input lag, something that I haven't yet experienced with the technika and have only seen when recently viewing tv's in shops.
So the question is, are there any owners of this tv that can leave a good honest review for the rest of us? Merely because whilst I believe the outsourcing of brand names to a mass-producer can only be to cut costs of production, I can't help but think that there are a few diamonds in the ruff, as far as my experience goes.
Thanks.

I have a 5 year old Sony KDL40W5500 which is pretty old tech now (not led...) although is 1080 full HD and tbf the picture is pretty good. I have seen demos of the 4k sets and they are very impressive but cant help think that it still isnt yet the time to upgrade. Sets are improving all the time and with the lack of real 4k content it just seems more sensible to wait atm. From what I understand a 4k set needs HDMI 2.2 to make use of it from internal sources? Just appears to me that current 4k tv sets will become obsolete very quickly.

I think the 'debate' has been about the naivety of those who believe a brand such as BUSH actually indicates something positive about the manufacturer and quality when it is actually just a brand paid for by the likes of Argos to stick on anything they so choose. That is not the same as saying this TV is rubbish, though it is unlikely to come from a top quality source.
For what it's worth (not a lot actually - a small sample is fairly meaningless) I have a couple of smaller Technika TVs. Picture quality is fine, one of them regularly freezes for a second or two (seems to struggle with processing the signal) but for what I paid they are good value. But back to brand discussion: TVs with the same name slapped on them could well have come from different sources anyway.
Personally I'd be reluctant to buy one of these generic TVs as a main TV but even then if the price is low enough and you're prepared to see it as a disposable item after the warranty expires then why not? After all, in a couple of years technology will have moved on again.
Looking recently at smaller TVs for the kitchen I found that the big brands weren't actually a lot more expensive when on one of the regular sales. I ended up with a 27" Samsung HD smart TV under £200 and it's fabulous. Replaced an old Technika which was still working OK but was LCD so bulky, power hungry and no iPlayer, ITV Player, etc.

Great point; it's also worth bearing in mind that JVC is no longer a brand in its own right - it's not only some, but every single model produced under the JVC name is now a bargain basement piece of junk. For a TV that actually is produced by the company written on the front you need something like a Sony.

Which is why it's ridiculously cheap. Some people want the moon on a stick for £300. It's built to a price people there WILL be compromises on the build. Just to balance the moaning out without HDCP2.2 it CAN still be used for UHD resolutions:
Playing DRM stripped video (now starting to be available from the usual sources)
Use as a PC monitor ok it might not hit the heights because of input lag but for non intensive non fps gaming that won't matter
Casting movies from your own UHD devices like mobile phones that can record higher than HD
Upscaling I'm guessing this can upscale content, ok it's not great but if it can it might have a better picture than a similarly priced non UHD tv
Personally for me it's a compromise too far because I'd rather pay more for a "proper" UHD TV BUT our main TV is a 42" Bush 3DTV which was cheap that came with 8 pairs of glasses and a 3d blu-ray player so can't really grumble.
My only complaint with the TV is no discrete input selection so my Harmony remote struggles a bit with flicking thru all the sources, other than that the picture is great and 3d works perfectly (bit of a pain switching it on/off) it's over 2 years old and the only thing wrong with it is its 42" and I want bigger lol.
In short, don't judge a TV by the badge alone

Stick with your old TRUE Hitachi it will last longer and all this HYPE over 4K is wasted when there is no 4K content available in any quantity. It will take a few more years before quality broadcasts available to ALL are made and there is not even a DVD player on the market yet for it but should arrive mid 2016.Hitachi is ANOTHER once famous name that is now just a "badge" stuck on to cheap European multi named equipment that getting extended warranties on is expensive if available at all.
