Very hot discount, so heat added. Personally I have switched from Braun series 3's after owning three to Panasonic es-st25 and the different is like night and day (the Panasonic is made in Japan whereas the braun despite being German is made in China and as such the Japanese quality shows).

I have owned a couple of Braun Series 3 330 shavers and been disappointed. Not a very close shave and the cutter lasted not much longer than 12 months. The Panasonic shaver that you are referring to is currently £34.50 at the SSE shop and gets great reviews on Amazon. If I didn't already have 3 spare shavers, I would consider buying one myself.
joneeboy to atippett
11 Jan 16 #106
I doubt that is anything to do with being made in China, because I was not impressed with a German made Braun. Quality control is in the hands of Braun, and if that is not good enough it is Braun's fault.
Panasonic make electric razors in China too, and so do Philips. If Japanese products are so wonderful, why are Japanese car sales so low in Europe, and why is it that the Japanese models produced in the UK are in such demand in Japan? Highest quality is plentiful in China for those manufacturers who want to use it, which is why so many top ones have moved production there. Do you have a mobile, or a laptop, or a vacuum cleaner made somewhere else? This deal is good one for those that want a Braun, and obviously not for those that don't.So what?.

At least that's my excuse :smirk:
I've still got the HTC 3D mobile that I bought from ASDA a few years ago still unopened in the box!!
And psobably a few other things that I can't remember but I think that most of those are a lot less than the £200+ HTC - apart from the Canon flashgun at £100+ that I still haven't used after a couple of years.

Been using mine for 7 months, got it for £26 or so on Amazon when it was on offer, but without the cleaning station. Had wet shaved all my life and I am pretty impressed with it, as it is just so much more convenient. It is something you need to use every day or two though as it can struggle with 3-4 days growth (although still gets through it). Bargain with the cleaning station tbh. Mine was a Braun Series 3 340s if that makes a difference though

Get a Panasonic where you can take the foil off and clean the heads yourself

They have sealed the head unit as a con to make you buy this rubbish
barginfan to cherylcole
10 Jan 16 #54
Not true.
How would you change the cutter and foil if this were a sealed unit.
Just because this shaver comes with its own cleaning system does not mean you are obliged to use it.

I have over 10yrs experience of the Series 3 shavers and pop mine open after each use to remove the bulk of trimmings, before running a cleaning cycle.

Can't comment on the Series 3, but bit the bullet and bought a Series 7 on Black Friday from Amazon.

The best decision of my life. So much more convenient. Shave anytime, anywhere.

On the Series 7 you can detach the foil to wash the head manually or use the cleaning station which is very convenient.

The only concern I have is the price of the foil head. Mine seems to be wearing down after about a month. Not sure if this is normal? The replacement from Braun is pricy too.

Still recommend.

Guys tried a Panny 3 foil one last year, but found i was better off using a rough stone, as it took forever and by then my face was red raw.

Question is are these shavers all only capable of handling 1-2 days minimal stubble (the Panny could barely do that), as opposed to one a week growth.

This deal has got hot only on back of the cleaning station which imo is unnecessary, unwieldy and has future costs.A better bet is the far superior panasonic or just wait for the daily amazon daily deal they have always on the 3 series brauns and save a fiver.

Careful if dealing with Tesco Direct.
I ordered a tablet. Got e mail to collect from store. It wasn't there. Tracking told me, delivered to Scottish store but returned to warehouse. Oh well these things happen, slight delay? No way! E mail saying was now out of stock. I responded factually that it couldn't be because was returned. Next e mail, no longer available. I got refund and £10 compo but kept enquiring about missing tablet with little info. I assumed it had been taken by someone between Scotland and the warehouse. Customer Service almost said as much and that it wasn't an isolated case. Hope you have better luck.

I've had a 3 series Braun and didn't rate it much at all...... I now have the Panny ST25 and it really is loads better. The linear motor is faster and more powerful, the cutters are sharper, the foils seem stronger and it seems to have better Japanese build quality than the Chinese made Braun.
It really is better on every level....... buy the Panny, you wont regret it.

Can't comment on this model and the price is really hot, but my only Braun shaver is collecting dust in the cupboard. I've had both Braun & Panasonic. It's swings and roundabouts.

The Braun gives an average cut.. but keeps giving the same average cut as it gets older
The Panasonic initially gives a far better cut but then very quickly 'drops off a cliff' to then give a worse cut than the Braun after a couple of months.

12 Jan 16 2 #125
Thank you OP, good deal for this shaver and cheapest I could find was around £65.
I bought a couple and picked them up today.

I have owned the 790cc for 2 years which is a great shaver and I replaced the foil after around 12 months as was not cutting as well as it did.

I had a dry shave tonight with the 350cc and I am more than happy with it.
Not as powerful as the 7 series but does the job just fine.

I still wet shave and no electric shaver will ever get that close a shave, but for a quick easy shave then the Braun is a great shaver especially at this price.

I use the clean and renew liquid and even though it is a bit of a gimmick, it does clean the shaver really well and leaves it like new afterwards.

The problem is that a cartridge will only last a month no matter if you clean your shaver daily or once a week because it just evaporates anyway.

To make the fluid last longer, I only put the cart into the renew system when I want to clean the shaver, then take it out and re-seal with the cap so the liquid cannot evaporate.
Takes 2 seconds and makes the liquid go a lot further for you're money.

Also some people use shavers once and think they are rubbish but you do really need to give it a few weeks to let you're face/skin get used to the razor and see if the results improve.

My first electric was a Philips and I gave that a good go but rotary shavers never did the job for me.
Foils work for me so that's what I stick to between the wet shaves

I'm sure the shaver's decent, of course, but I bought a £20 Panny, my very first electric shaver - always been a wet shave, dual-blade (any more blades is silliness) kind of guy, when I can be bothered to shave - and I love the speed and convenience with no irritation that I get with it (and decent closeness) so I'm obviously hoping philbean isn't correct in what he says above, but even if I get a couple of good years out of it (not using more than 2/3 times a week) it'll be pretty decent value. It should stand up to 300 shaves alright, no? It's the £19.50 Panasonic deal from SSE, found on here about 3 weeks ago.

I found this youtube video which explains how to make your own cleaning liquid

I make my own liquid on a regular basis, though it usually makes things LESS clean.

Lulz at the reviews stating it came with a European 2 pin plug, simpletons

It's very much a case of personal preference.

My son has had a Panasonic shaver for over a year. He has tried and prefers my Braun that is 4+ years old.
We have both taken up this deal.
A friend of mine also took advantage of this deal. He had previously used a Panasonic, but is, from initial results, more impressed with this Braun.

can someone briefly explain about the need of the cleaning solution? is this an expensive business? can it be manually cleaned like a normal Razor??
barginfan to neroneuk
15 Jan 16 #148
The shaver can be manually cleaned. Simply pull the head off and brush it, blow it or rinse it under a tap.

The fluid is approx £12 to £15 for three cartridges.
Depending on how often you use the cleaning cycle, will obviously have an impact on your costs.
The 3 cartridges normally last me between 9 and 12 months as I only use the cleaning cycle when the shaver needs charging.
I have refilled a cartridge before, but found it a little time consuming to clean out. I refilled mine with cheap neat vodka, which worked well.
ceanth
15 Jan 16 #147
What ingredients do you use?
neroneuk
15 Jan 16 #149
great, thank you. So, what is the purpose of the fluid if can manually be cleaned and what it is the advantage of using it?? does the fluid also dissolve hair? sorry about my ignorance never used this stuff and will be for a relative eventually.
barginfan
15 Jan 16 #150
The fluid gives it a good wash, leaving it looking new and smelling very fresh.
It's also supposed to be something of a lubricant on the skin to reduce irritation. If you have sensitive skin this is possibly helpful.

When you remove the head to do a manual clean, you can't really get into all the nooks and crannies to give it a "like new" clean. Rinsing under a tap may get rid of more trimmings but that's the main selling point, or at least that's how I perceive it, of the cleaning device. I believe it's more of a labour saving device, much the same as why someone would buy a dishwasher.

I have a series 7 of these, over 2 years old now, it's been loyal but it's starting to break. Don't think I'll spend that kind of money again. I might just get this for the travel bag. Hot.

Got one.

Took twice as long as my rotary Phillips to give half as good a shave and irritated my neck no end.

Would not recommend.

Picked mine up today did a quick haphazard shave far better than my old crappy Panny, but still left my neck red and sore - but been a year since I tried an electric shaver after the Panny bad experience.

Questions though.
1. Clean seems to tale a few mins can I switch it off or does it need to stay on until dry;
2. Related question I took the cleaning fluid out after the clean to avoid it evaporating is that ok;
3. With the clean function is that all I need to do then and no other cleaning;
4. If so where does all the hair go from the foil ?

Got my shaver today, thanks OP.

Does it give a closer shave when wet or dry? Early indications are that it's not that much better than my £15 shaver, but I might be doing something wrong...
shadow1 to Thomas.
19 Jan 16 #165
I can only base a reply on my husband's comments and what he says that no electric shaver will ever give a shave like a wet shave (razor) Electric shavers are more for convenience and to save time and not having to use foam, brush, water, towels etc. If you were going to keep having a wet shave you may as well stick to a razor. What you will find is that even if a £15 shaver may give you a close shave the difference comes in with how long will it give a close no pain shave, for premium brand shavers should use much better materials and should give a good pain & cut free shave for a much longer time.

Would be interested to know too.

While it does not cause any unpleasant feeling I found it does not shave very well, leaving bits around so I have to finish it with my 10yo round philips shaver. Maybe I am doing it wrong, any tips ?

Where is otherwise ?
Probably this is the reason why it was so heavily reduced, sadly Amazon reviews didn't mention any of this.
