Yes they are £1.27 at Waitrose, but Waitrose with only 344 stores is not that accessible to everyone , including myself my nearest Waitrose is over 25 miles away.

Many things have been cheaper in the past or may indeed be cheaper in the future, It's this weeks prices we quote on this site thou.
Pointless telling people what they were 4 months ago unless they are still available at that price. 64p was a fantastic price at the time, but that was then, this is now.
