1200 rpm may be a deal breaker for some

Many thanks for this. Our machine is on its last legs, so I just ordered one of these.
It's to new to find long term reviews, but fingers crossed the bearings assembly is better than the latest model on 'Which', that has a life expectancy of approx 3yrs.

Bosch are good but for some reason the 5kg model in this range proved more reliable than the larger capacity. there must be different motor or some other difference in part than just the drum sizes

Well ir would make sense... To have a different motor - you need far more power, and to an extent the reduction in reliability is not too suprising...
The forces exerted on the components are far greater with 8kg spinning around - sure things should be proportionately reengineered to compensate, but you can only go so far, or at least within a size, weight and most importantlyhere, price point... So reliability seems to have unfortunately suffers a bit in this case.

I bought this the other day at £279 but rang John Lewis when they reduced it again and they refunded me the difference. Worth a go if anyone else has done the same.

Was looking at this machine for my 70 year old mum. Is it easy to use ?

If your mum weighs more than 8kg then you'll need a larger capacity machine! And how would you fit her through the little door?
I was going to order this but then started checking how much water it uses (we are metered) over a year and decided to look for a smaller capacity one and hopefully save money in the longer term;)

The wife went from a 1400 hotpoint to a 1200 Panasonic and she noticed the difference. I say the wife as I can't use the machine
