Below average quality in my book. Certainly a case of getting what you pay for. Usual wired headphones are a pair of sennheiser earbuds I paid about 25 quid for about 3 years ago, so not exactly premium. These things are not even in the same ballpark. Missing any range of depth, poor mid and bass response, tinny highs. There alright for an hour or so at the gym, but I'll be buying a better pair shortly as the quality is already starting to irritate me.

I have had a few people say they can't hear me properly when I am on the phone to them occasionally in the last week. However the O2 network was completely and partially up the Creek recently so not entirely sure whether it was the headset or the network. Just playing audio was fine. Had them in for couple of hours with no earache (apart from the music playlister LOL)

Well it was more for the Bluedio R+ headphones I bought which proclaimed "AptX" on the box but sadly weren't when you got them on your head. To me, this is quite a big deal. To genuinely compliment each other, or at least, not to compete over the same resources. Bottom line - as it should have been from the beginning.

Road tested mine in the gym yesterday. Verdict: not very impressed. The bass is lacking compared to a set of £10 cheap Phillips earbuds (wired). Charged up nice and quick, but the sound quality is lacking. Contrary to above, there is a tether on the charging port cover, but it's as thin as anything and expected to snap very quickly.
Biggest problem is they won't hold a Bluetooth connection with my iPhone. Fine if the phone is in my hand, or on the equipment beside/in front of me, but as soon as I drop the phone in my shorts pocket the connection drops out every couple of seconds.
Returning for refund.

Possibly you've got a 4G contract? Bluetooth 4.1 is supposed to fix the interference problem with 4G, but these are only bluetooth 4.0

7 Jan 16#52
Seems many Bluetooth 4.0 devices can be patched to 4.1 so again it's down to the manufacturer to enable or not like the AptX. I've got a couple of headsets with CSR chips "capable" of AptX but not enabled. I'll maybe try to knock up an interface to sort it out (or brick them).

The Mpow Swift (of which these seem to be a rebadge) is apt-x enabled. Any idea if these are?

Well I have to disagree with the disagreement. I've just taken a set for a proper test drive, down the gym, where they're designed for.
Sure, comparing them back to back with a more expensive wired set of plugs at home you can hear the limitations, but human hearing is very perceptual. Half an hour later with nothing to compare them to, listening to music on a treadmill in a gym they sound great, really great when you consider how much they cost.
They are quite chunky and might look clunky, but they're actually really light and you don't notice them at all (unless you look in the mirrors). And the ear fitting is bomb proof, they definitely stay in during sporting activity, they come with 6 different pairs of soft rubber 'wings' designed to hook in or under the various grooves in your outer ear, you've got plenty of permutations to try, violent head shaking wouldn't dislodge the combination I found for my ears and they were really comfortable for 90 minutes of constant use, never needed to adjust or reseat them during exercise.
Base is good, not punchy but definitely there, and the trebles and vocals were fine, not perfect but certainly not murky, so good I didn't even feel the need to mess around with Poweramps's equalizer for this session, which is an option if you like a lot of emphasis. Sound isolation is good, could block out most of the background X-factor music at the gym, and they seemed to cope with my sweat levels which has been a problem with other headphones in the past for me.
I've tried quite a few wired buds over the years and these have to be head and shoulders the best 'under £10' set I've listened to, and these self powered with BT connection to boot.
I will hang on to the receipt, being Chinese there can't be much copper in the silicon band which is always a weak point on these kinds of devices, and I can't see the battery lasting the 3 year warranty period, it must be the size of a pea, but did at least last over 2.5 hours on my first try.
Remember these ARE only £7.99
helloyoufool
4 Jan 161#45
I've got to disagree with the last poster. I was looking forward to these and I have just purchased a pair in the last hour. Charged them up, looking forward to a test drive.
First impressions: Quite chunky. Second impression: Clunky. Third impression: No way will these stay in during sporting activity.
OK on to the sound. Via Poweramp I had to test another pair of headphones to make sure the song was playing correctly! Then I tried some hard rock (Cancer Bats)& then softer stuff (Arkells) through Amazon Music. There was plenty of bass but the vocals sounded very murky.
I knew these wouldn't be world beaters but I did expect better. They were like a test purchase to see if I could get on with BT headphones before I bought a more expensive pair.
I'm that disappointed with the product I will be returning them under Aldi's 90 day policy. In my opinion they aren't even worth being used as a back-up pair. For now I'll continue stick with the cheap wired Altec-Lansings (with remote) & sets that ship with the phones for sport!

All OK so far ... they seem similar to the MPOW's if not coming out of the same factory with a different badge on. The UK importer is **** Ltd who are a Chinese company. Mpow are Chinese company too.
I think Mpow are the ODM and **** are the importer/sales company. The only noticible difference is a slightly different set of stabilisers.
This article seems to be a fair representation of them http://the-gadgeteer.com/2015/04/29/mpow-swift-bluetooth-4-0-headphones-review/
and the android app audio test tone generator seems to (for me anyway) show they to be working fine - barring a bit of cut off at the top and bottom end more due to too many loud gigs and oldish age.
I need to play around with the stabilisers a bit to get a snug fit, some images on the web show them being used the opposite way round to in the booklet. I guess whatever works for you is the name of the game.

Just picked up a set from Aldi in Dagenham, box is labelled as Maxtek, rather cheap and nasty looking as the product appears.
After a brief charge, pairing we straight forward, annoying gripe is the status indicator is covered when you hold the button.
Anyhow, as stated build quality is pretty low, the charge port cover has no tether so will get lost.
Sound quality seems surprisingly good, there is a bit of bass, but major let down is a very splashy treble, hard on the ears after just 1 track.
Sound output level is loud, I normally got well into the full position on the phone and adjust from the headset, but with these I barely get to 70% and its loud enough.
Sound overall seem to lack any mid range prominence so seems liked it sucked out or compressed.
Another surprise even without the ear inserts (lots provided) the earbuds stays more than comfortably in place.
The connect and disconnect announcement is ear piercing.
So summing it up, would recommend purely as a throw away punt and no more, as the sound is just all over the place, bass (wooly not deep), mid (sucked out compressed) and treble (either nothing then shrilly highs) nasty build quality letting them down, but then they are sub £8.
I think the BT4.0 is the strength (bit rate higher ???) versus most BT2.0 headsets, but a MAJOR word of caution the treble over short periods may make your ears bleed.
UPDATE: Swapped back to my bargain Sony SBH60 (£25), after just 2 minutes and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THESE IF YOU VALUE YOUR EARS, the A-B listening just highlights how dreadful these headset are.
Off to get some Paracetamol and then a refund, what are ALDI like on "its a load of crap" refunds ?

Bought these - sightly disappointed. I expect maybe a tinny treble and oomph-less bass but the sound is like I have cotton wool in my ears. Treble is muted, bass is distorted and vocals sound as though no one spotted the prank thick wool sock over the microphone. They'll do - but will take second place to the Solememo SE09 which I picked up on an Amazon deal last October for only a few £ more.

I'm genuinely surprised by that. These earphones have their faults, and they certainly aren't the smallest units ever, but I was impressed by how unobtrusive they were, particularly when out running. Even Mrs Matt, has given them the thumbs up and she has very small ears and hardly ever gets on with in-ear headphones!! So much so, that she now has a pair of her own
If they have a fault, I'd say that they fit so nicely and block out so much outside noise, that some might say they are dangerous for running on the open road, as you are isolated from vehicle noise.

Decided to supliment my "Kitsound Beamers" on ear BT phones with a pair of these.
Tried one set and only had left channel. Second set work fine but I would describe the sound quality as 'muddy', which is acceptable at the price point.
I'd say they're OK for the daily commute, but they won't replace my Beamers for relaxing on long flights.
I'm hoping the three year guarantee will cover the battery which is probably going to be the first thing to 'go', but to be fair, around three years for eight quid is a bargain.

Many people mentioned that they resembled mpow units.
Can anybody speak to the similarity?
Are these infact, likely to be rebranded/debranded mpow units?
matt7powell to Libertas
3 Jan 16#31
Whilst not able to say with 100% certainty, I'd be amazed if these were not re-branded mpow units. They don't just look like, they look darn near identical. Comparing with the photographs of the MPOW product, the only difference I can spot is the MPOW logo on the function button being replaced by a graphic showing a play and pause icon. The technical specifications pretty much stack up to.
If these were purporting to be copies of a high end product, something akin to the fake nutri-bullets doing the rounds, then I'd be sceptical. But the Mpow headphones are pocket money product also.....so I'd confidently say yes

3 Jan 161#29
Wow!! One of my resolutions for 2016 was to be wiser with my money. Therefore, I thought hard about spending these eight notes...buy cheap, buy twice and all that. I didn't want another impulse buy sitting in the gadget drawer, gathering dust.
It's true that they aren't audiophile quality and you will need to be gentle with them, particularly when charging, as the build quality is that of an £8 pair of headphones. But in all other respects, these are amazing. The sound is on the warm side and not shrill and the bluetooth range is impressive (not that you'll need that when running). The rubber grommets that hold the buds in place, during training, works well.
They do have a built-in mic and they do all the 'ok google', siri, call answering stuff, if you need all that when training. You'd probably want a better quality product if you want to make use of these features on a regular basis, but for occasional use, they are fine.
They work, they stay put, they aren't uncomfortable, and they cost eight notes!!!! So glad I took notice of s92c, DanWeb, and others. Of course they aren't in the same league as Bose, but total crap they certainly are not!!

I have a set of these headphones. Not sourced via Aldi I admit.
I've the following observations;
Lots of emphasis on bass but sound easily distorts.
Built in mic is essentially useless.
I lost Bluetooth signal with cable behind my neck and phone in front pocket.
Pretty useless for running, unless you like a cable flapping up and down as you run.
Very easy to pair with devices. I'd say they are worth £5 maximum, as a backup set.
I'd never use them as primary headphones. So far I'm really impressed with my Xiaomi Piston 3's for the money.

I'd say they're OK for the daily commute, but they won't replace my Beamers for relaxing on long flights.
I'm hoping the three year guarantee will cover the battery which is probably going to be the first thing to 'go', but to be fair, around three years for eight quid is a bargain.
Can anybody speak to the similarity?
Are these infact, likely to be rebranded/debranded mpow units?
If these were purporting to be copies of a high end product, something akin to the fake nutri-bullets doing the rounds, then I'd be sceptical. But the Mpow headphones are pocket money product also.....so I'd confidently say yes
What's the verdict, are they any good?
*their
Also, MP3S are quite poor quality if you really want to look at audio quality.
Sorted typos on PC
Any chance of an editable HUKD app for typo ridden posts due to auto text?
I've the following observations;
Amazon
A solid 4/5 on Amazon, over 2k reviews.
It's a shame we're not all blessed with ears as god like as yours. Might as well save that £7.99 for something huge.
I'd certainly buy these again if something happened to mine
If they are the same, then this is a bargain.
I use them for a few hours of running every week. The batteries last well, the sound quality is very good, and they are reliable.
Voted hot
