So tempted by the slide out keyboard! Unfortunately the phone is just far too expensive to justify. Am hoping Blackberry will release a more budget version that has the same slide out keyboard form.

Or wait for the second-user ones to trickle in, that's what I did with the Passport and then found out it wasn't right for me (rather do that for £250 vs. the £550 RRP or whatever it was).

I'd rather they release another phone with the same spec but with a better build quality and a lower price. I can't see many people switching to Blackberry's at the current price for the priv.

Out of curiosity can i ask how much you paid for the moto x style? What network? Sounds like you got a good deal and that is a good phone, was looking at the moto x style myself and this blackberry a little too expensive for me still.

I've been umming and ahhing about this myself for a while too. I really want one, but the expensive bit is pretty much like a non issue seeing as the contract for some of these deals works out as £10 for the very generous minutes data and texts and the rest being the phone. Seems a nice way to buy the phone without paying outright for it especially considering you'd end up playing up to about £20 just for a sim only contract with these sorts of limits thus making the phone technically even cheaper.

I considered getting the BlackBerry Priv due to the physical keyboard and the fact that it ruins Android.
However I went for a Motorola X Style as it was much cheaper and had a good loudspeaker.
I hope that the Priv does well though. I would like to see a resurgence in physical keyboards; if a successful Priv spurs other manufacturers to do the same then so much the better.

I can't be 100% certain but everything points to the latter - sadly. As an avid Blackberry fan exclusively for over a decade I think they just don't keep them in store due to lack of demand - very sadly.

As far as I know no Vodafone shop have these. The Priv is a CPW exclusive in the UK and even then you will lucky if anything other than their very large flagship stores has one in stock, even luckier if they have a demo model out for testing. MPD is part of the CPW group.

No shops have these in store , i walked the length and breath of birmingham before i decided to bite the bullet and take a chance.
The keyboard wasnt the decision maker and neither was bbm(dont actually know anyone with a bb anymore just me ). Its the package , yes its massive in my passive hands and the offical hard case makes it even more massive .However its buttery smooth , looks good , screen is amazing and it updates each month with improvements (had one yesterday) . The camera is amazing if a little laggy ,but the battery literally lasts allday and i mean a working day 7-11 atleast including 3hours + screen time.
Yes its not the fastest phone out there but its the best for me right now , 32gb internal AND microsd was the clincher !

this is a good deal for 12 months. I'm biased though as had a play with the phone before release and really liked it. it was actually unfinished when they released it for testing and sent OTA updates at the end of the testing window that improved the phone a lot. it was great to use in our opinion. Thanks for the heat people. As I said it's only really a great deal under certain circumstances but as you can potentially get the phone and a years high usage contract for less than the sim free cost, it's worth a pop if you want the phone and use lots of data. Also worth mentioning that redemption is easier over a shorter period.

I got this 3 days ago direct from Blackberry for £559.99. This included a OEM flip case worth RRP £39.99 and a desk top charger stand (no charger included) worth another RRP £29.99 for free. In CPW without the "free" accessories mentioned above it was £529 SIM FREE. I went for the direct BB offer as I wanted the case. I am now returning them all under the BB 30 day money back guarantee - not to get it on Vodafone on the deal here (its a good deal) but simply because I hate it. I'm actually BB through and through and so it pains me to say it but the wifes Samsung Galaxy S6 is amazing compared to the Priv. I am just go to back to my BB Classic (Q20) that I put in the draw last week when the Priv arrived as a cant live without a physical keyboard but i cant live with Priv's issues either (keyboard too small for me, slow, non polished Android software). Still voting hot though!

You need to watch the Priv prices carefully. If they don't sell well, the prices could come down significantly as Blackberry try to get rid of them. I agree- right now it's just too expensive
