Hi, small claims would have sorted this but at the time I had a lot on, new job and daughter was due so didn't persue but incentive for them to change... I spread the word and never used them again after personally or for business and I looked after procurement so no more orders with any of the direct group. They may have changed now... there's only so long a business can pull that kind of cobblers until the word gets around enough to really cause issues for the bottom line.
On the up side, Richer Sounds have a new customer for AV products :-)

I just bought a BAUHN 48" 4K in Aldi, £249.00... I had to ask one of the assistants because they had them on the back shop.

Would small claims court work for this, TV is not as described?
Or if paid with credit card, would a bank refund?
They actually said that the problem was with distributors' description - this is admittance of the problem isn't it?
Where is the incentive for them doing anything different again?

Got a TV from Direct TVs years back advertised with picture in picture. Could get it to work button on remote they referred me to manufacturer who confirmed not on European models ( took a week) asked for RMA refused as it was over 30 days. Reported the problem just over 20 days and they fobbed me off to manufacturer rather than deal with the problem. Quoted SOGA they said I'd have to go to court to get a refund as they don't make enough money on a TV sale and the problem was distributors description of features. Never again, this time round Richer Sounds. Can't put a price on good service!

I Bought the 48" 4k from aldi back in november.
Tomorrow I will be returning the TV (50/60 days return) as its not good enough for me.
Not sure if this 40" is the same but heres what was in the box for the 48"
What they dont tell you in the box is that only one (hdmi 4) (for my 48" anyway), is HDCP 2.2. Took nearly a week to get a concrete answer from Bauhn!
HD is OK nothing special, Gaming (PS4) is quite poor, 50" Bush HD for £249 was better for gaming and general HD/SD use
SD REALLY POOR
Hooked up Fire TV to test 4k and it was really nice.
4K picture is really good, HD Freeview is handy but HD is not as good again as the bush (which really isnt saying much!)
Was used primarily as an external 4K monitor and would recommend if doing so but otherwise I'd avoid.
End of the day, cheapest way to make it smart and run 4K is Fire TV which is around £60-70 (and its not 60Hz) which leaves the Nvidia Shield which is £100+ plus extra for a normal remote (have a PS4). Total it together to get a real 4K experience.

DRM really **** me off - it only inconveniences legitimate users and creates unnecessary compatibility issues. Pirates don't even sweat this (cheap UHD HDMI splitters that bypass HDCP 2.2 are available from chinese websites - don't ask me where, these are illegal in the UK).

You’d have to be dumb to buy a smart television.
It’s better to get a non-smart telly, and add other things to make it smart. That way your telly can go on and on and on, as long as it lasts, and the smart bits can be replaced or updated along the way as they go out of date or become obsolete.
This deal is quite interesting, but I’ve never yet seen an “Aldi” and always thought they were just part of the fictional coating of culture, like Star Wars, Sherlock Holmes and religion. If it turns out that Aldi does indeed exist, and anyone’s gone into one and effected the purchase of the items herein referred to aforementionedly, could you have a quick gander round the back and tell us where it’s been assembled? Dammit how did I miss this. Would have been perfect size for me.
Ta.

for the money V spec is yet another brilliant example [see Hisense 65" deal]
of how you can get a lot of HDTV for you hard earned and not getting interest
savings nowadays!
As littel states above, just stick in a stick with Kodi beta [full CES version now live]
on it and never pay for Sky again
Its not a Samsung or Panasonic LED TV, but try it out for 2 months and return if it's really that bad.
