I have always wanted to read this epic, but thought the experience would be daunting and difficult. So maybe having someone read it for me to listen may make it easier, and at this price worth a shot.
Edit: Ive been listening intermittently since purchase and the narration is first class (as said by aninginaneana ), more like voice acting. Also found my concentration dropping a little at the beginning but events liven up quite soon - so stick with it.
Just a note - you don't have to be a member or sign up for a sub to take advantage of the daily deal. Just use your Amazon log in details, or create a new one if not on Amazon. Once purchased and downloaded, this can be played on a variety of devices like mobile phones and ipods BUT virtually impossible (at least for me) to transfer to older devices that need simple MP3 files, as Audible uses a DRM protected format.

Homer's Iliad and Odyssey are unquestionably two of the greatest epic masterpieces in Western literature. Though more than 2,700 years old, their stories of brave heroics, capricious gods, and towering human emotions are vividly timeless. The Iliad can justly be called the world's greatest war epic. The terrible and long-drawn-out siege of Troy remains one of the classic campaigns. The Odyssey chronicles the many trials and adventures Odysseus must pass through on his long journey home from the Trojan wars to his beloved wife.

I'm sure this is more professional and probably worth the money for that, but it should be pointed out that as it's a public domain work you will be able to find audiobooks of this for free online.

Is this the Ian McKellen narration?
One thing to watch out for: The Illiad has a loooong description of troops and ships, skip it!
