Being successful at any Career /Profession makes work a pleasure, my son is an Lift Engineer , my youngest daughter is a Nurse and my Eldest Daughter is a Police Officer, they love what they do. I was a Technical Rep for decades, from Elgin down to Southampton and Northern Ireland. All of my Children own their houses NO MORTGAGES helped by the Dad bank, am I successful, YES, I have a great family and I enjoy helping them and my grandchildren. I drive a wee Hyundai, we downsized to a modest 2 bedroom house. Could I afford the High Performance vehicle, YES but even when the kids were growing up we preferred to tithe some of our income to help those less fortunate then we are. Successful people are those who enjoy what they do and are good at it, even if the financial reward isn’t as good as some others Career`s.

5 wheels? costs more than a flat?

some people like driving or spend a lot of time in their cars, so a little comfort is not an ego boost. That's the difference between here an the USA. In the USA they celebrate success whereas here people will drag successful people down at every opportunity

Agreed that's odd, better to buy a property yourself and let it out and get a cheaper car. Then buy the nice car when you can genuinely afford it eg after buying your second or third BTL

If I had the money I would go for it. I have always wanted the A4 3.0 litre Quattro but always out of my price range. I am getting there, another 10 years maybe. Just got to make sure my next car holds its value for a deposit.

My advice to everybody is never buy brand spanking new car if you hate the depreciation value lol. Touch wood, in past 10 years I've only lost out on one car but I knew from day one I'd lose on it!
Give me 2 years and I'll have an Audi R8, they've halved in value since new but are holding value now. 3-4 years is where they'll lose the most.

Its why most audi, bmws, jags, mercs and any other luxury car are either leased or on pcp. Few people can afford to pay for it outright and even those that could wouldnt as theyd use the capital for investment instead

So true. Used to be known as 'brickies' cars'; after The Chairman had his three years out of 'the Jag' it got sold on cheap to a labourer with a live-for-today attitude to fuel consumption. Of course, these days the brickie could earn nearly as much as the chairman (and quite right too!).

It's not ego when you're earning enough for a car like this to not put a dent in your disposable income, or if your car is your one extravagance - why else be a big earner and likely do a job with big responsibility and stress.

Some people earning big money like to spend their earnings on things they enjoy. Not everyone needs to be driving around in a mundane 70ps car that will get you to 70mph eventually.

By your logic, owning a house when a cheaper flat will do would also be a waste of resources. Earn your money and enjoy it whatever you spend it on....without the hippy guilt trip.

I have a suggestion, that is that anyone hypocritical enough to be on here using a smart phone or similar device in their heated home watching their bought TV(probably sky) should not be banging on about food banks and third world countries, I dare say most people including myself contribute enough to charity and it's about personal choice , so let's not get to high and mighty as the air is thin up there and wouldn't want anyone to pass out

No I would not, my family need a house to live in, we need a sensible car for transport one with 5 wheels that starts when its supposed to and gets us from A _ B what I do not need is a car that costs more than some flats and that will be limited to a Legal Max 70 MPH in the UK. If someone needs one of these to feed their ego that is their choice, but what a waste of Resources.

This is the kind of car not many people buy with their own money - it is a high end company car, other Audis have far better depreciation, the kind people do buy with their own money privately, like A1s and A3s. Once you start getting into company car territory the residuals drop because they are disposed of in bulk through auction at 2 and 3 years old.

People buy Ferraris as an investment. But the old saying "A Fool and his Money are soon Parted" applies here. I see many people with expensive cars usually on hp paying rent to "buy to let" landlords.......they have not got a clue. Car dealers, finance companies and buy to let landlords are laughing all the way to the Bank.

Would be nice if you accepted your mistake but anyway...

The 3 top definitions of "INVESTMENT" as you claimed:

1. The action or process of investing money for profit.
2. A thing that is worth buying because it may be profitable or useful in the future.
3. An act of devoting time, effort, or energy to a particular undertaking with the expectation of a worthwhile result.

Clearly nobody will buy THIS car as an investment under its true definition. (No idea what your definition is:{)

Another example of strange heat. There's no stock anywhere yet people are voting hot. Be as well posting 20p Lear Jets at Tesco.
118luke
17 Jan 16 #177
More to it though.

example:
Tesco are selling 42" Sony TVs in Inverness for £50, but only have 10 in stock. everyone sees this and votes HOT, soon raising the temperature to 2000 degrees.
Shortly afterwords, Amazon are selling the same TV for £100, but the temperature is only at 82 degrees - yet have lots of stock. Worse yet, some are voting cold on the amazon deal because it is cheaper at Tesco (even though its a one off in Inverness)

That means the majority of the site have seen the Tesco tv that only 0.01% of the site can viably access, but miss the deal that they can actually get. Which is why i use the voting method i described earlier. Joe Bloggs and Dolly pat in Inverness have their own vote and can vote HOT since they have access to it, but if its only a very small handful that can get it then its not much use to many people is it, and people would miss genuine deals.

monkeyhanger75
17 Jan 16 #161
No, within 14 days you will not pay the arrangement fees or exit fees, just the interest accrued for the days prior to the day you announced cancellation to the finance company. Most dealerships will not want you to do this as they'll not get their kickback from the finance company.
monkeyhanger75
17 Jan 16 #159
If you settle within 14 days, you pay the interest accrued in that time e.g. you entered into a 5% APR deal on a £20k loan, you'll be charged £2.73 per day for all the days within the 14 days that passed before you asked to settle. After the 14 days, there'll be penalties for settling early - usually a calculation along the same lines as above + 2 months "penalty" interest.

No usually about it - you have 14 days to cancel your finance (but not the car - you have to find the money elsewhere) and pay nominal interest with no other penalties. This is a good way to score for finance deposit contributions. Did this to snag the £500 contribution on my wife's A1, settled in full after ringing Audi finance for a settlement, £500 saved in lieu of £4.27 interest accrued.

If someone sells a turd for £10 and someone sells a turd for £1 - its still a turd their selling!
If a product is badly designed/made in the first place - then even if it is reduced by 50%, it will still be a bad product.

Personally i factor in 3 things when i vote.
1. Can i get the product in the first place/is it even available to me?
2. Is the product good/high quality & value?
3. Is there a significant reduction in price from its standard price?

Remember, its how voting works - you vote for things that affect you, not Joe Bloggs that lives at the other side of the country

An awful lot of vehicle for the money, less than I paid for my SQ5 that's for sure. If some wish to put down a small deposit and pay per month for a vehicle they like then I can't see the issue with the OP putting up a decent reduction on a new vehicle. Because some people disagree with spending so much, or cannot afford, it doesn't negate from the fact a 23% discount on a new vehicle is strong.

This thread is a perfect case in point of how many HUKD users do not seem to understand the basic concept of the site. It is about posting deals - i.e. where a product or service has been found to be available at a better price than elsewhere, and/or previously. It isn't about whether or not it is a product that you want or like. Not too much evidence on this thread that that very basic concept is understood.

I note also that the lack of wisdom evident is matched also by the lack of wit.

'The above quoted price includes a £7,000 contribution towards AUDI PCP finance.'

So a cash buyer can't get it for the quoted price in the title? More like £50000+ when accounting interest. I guess you could buy it on a pcp deal and pay off the finance within the first few days. Also worth noting that the depreciation on these is awful. Car will be worth £20000 after 3 years and 30000 miles.

Very nice car. However I work at a dealership that sells used cars and most of the over age stuff is Audi and VW. The struggle is real! I would rather drop that amount on a used R35 and lose less money.

But I struggle to like anything built after 2005 unless it is a supercar so thats just me.

FFS, Would have loved the 330 when i bought my audi but only getting 4mths benefit out of that great road holding would be a shame with Englands weather. You've read so you know i already answered this statement, just bored doing some fishing?

It's not worth it man, Audi, Apple, Surface don't do well on here. It's a discount site after all so premium brands garner allot of negative attention from bitter, jealous small minded individuals. A deal is a deal no matter what and this is a deal on this model irrelevant of whether or not you feel its good value for the product, that's a whole different argument.
Sir Charles
17 Jan 16 3 #93
Just because you are spending £46,450 doesn't mean they are making £46,450 profit.
Staypuff
17 Jan 16 #92
Not what i meant, come on now, lots of hate towards audi from people who have never had one. Crawling hardly i was trying to make a social point that hating a car oh here doesnt reflect the car but the individual who is posting as hating is hating no matter what background and suggests bitterness on some occassions.

Horrendous depreciation on Whatcar calculator
effingandjeffing
17 Jan 16 2 #86
this is not an opinion this is from autotrader asking prices
put 4,000miles on the clock ask £35,000 in less than a year.

so i suppose if you are arguing this is great value you can just point to any price point/time
the constant drop in price really is horrendous depreciation
justified for the privilege of being first on the V5?
but there are lots that will, but not enough to keep future values high
bonzobanana to effingandjeffing
17 Jan 16 1 #90
We don't know how depreciation will be effected in years to come by all the debt Volkswagen group is adding. That 20 billion bridging loan has to be paid back however much they use of it. Volkswagen group is having to maximise income, that maybe increased costs for parts, more kit moved to the options list, less friendly terms to their dealerships and generally cost cutting in parts used. It can effect residual values if the company is in financial difficulty. In the long term Volkswagen may be forced to sell some of their marques like Skoda possibly or be saddled with long term debt. As it is Volkswagen market share is falling as is their prices to compensate. We still don't know how much debt Volkswagen will be saddled with but I noted the US rejected VW's recall proposals a week or so ago and many legal campaigns for compensation are in the early stages around the world but especially the US.

There isn't a contract of sale with their customers because the product didn't actually meet the claimed specification. It was falsely declared and intentionally misleading.

How about having a nice Sunday read of this deal / thread and don't vote at all if the car does not apply to you either way - saving everyone one once again having to skip the clone posts about "how do you know what I can afford" and small persons disease "why should I vote just cause you say so " blimey - booring! - I vote hot just because I can and whilst I would rather buy property securing my children's tough future ahead - that does not mean this deal is not for someone else.

I agree with you dude. If I won the lottery maybe though[
No not UK as our prices are way to high, I was referring to some of the really poorer countries.
Liverpool and most other UK city's have numerous food banks which is an indicator as to how bad it is for some family's. I am fortunate enough to be a mean stingy person I buy a lot of passed the best before date food (freezes well) so I have enough to manage.

The power door closure or clinch motor as it's describes by other manufacturers is quite handy. It means even small children can securely close a door without putting every effort to slam it shut - especially useful on bigger / heavier doors. All they need to do is draw the door close to closed and the motor sucks it in. It's a nice touch also if your hands are full and you have to lean against the door to shut it.

Great engine, still going strong at 6yrs old in my A5. This is a luxury model tbh so not for everyone. Shouldn't really post on hotuk though as a lot of scrotes bash any Audi deal. Look above lol makes me smile mind, I was raised on estates but managed to work earning descent money so never hate people buying expensive gear. Personally agree with some comments though could not buy new, but maybe that's just me keeping myself grounded.

Horrifically unreliable car and don't Audi have the worst dealers according to Auto Express.

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/13

Seems like a lot of money for a huge amount of potential stress and problems. Too much gadgetry I guess. BMW 5 series is twice as reliable as this and even that is 50% worse than average reliability;

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/26

A Lexus is 8x more reliable;

http://www.reliabilityindex.com/reliability/search/123

Realise the Lexus may not be close in driving experience though but really don't see the point in the Audi. You could buy a practical estate car and a Mazda MX-5 for driving fun for less money than this one car and still pay out far less money maintaining them outside warranty than this one car.

What Quattro doesn't mean;
1. Car will always start
2. Car will not run out of fuel
3. Car will not get stuck in snow, mud

etc etc,

Car will be driven by moron who doesn't understand either their or their car's limitations.
