Probably cos there are "deals" about fuel every day. Not only that the oil prices are at a 20year low so we should be paying way less than this but somebody somewhere is taking the Mick.
Have you noticed the very second prices go up all garages instantly put up prices, yet when prices go down they slowly reduce prices over periods of weeks?
Yes these prices are good for the motorists however they should be even better.
long may it keep falling and stay at this sort of level where it should be!

Off topic, strange how Gas for the homes a byproduct of crude oil hasn't moved downwards in price.
SFconvert to megastream
3 Jan 161#22
Gas for the home is generally natural gas, which is not a by product of crude oil. You are thinking of LPG or Propane / Butane (which is occasionally used in homes where no natural gas is available, though heating oil is now a much much cheaper option)
But wholesale natural gas prices have been falling with the oil price, though due to the home energy cartel they have generally not reduced their prices, though I would expect them to fall from March / April, once the winter is out the way, which is usual practice to rip off their customers.

everywhere else in the world diesel costs less than petrol why is it the other way around in uk, even in ireland diesel is cheaper yet you drive over to NI and its the opposite way

The UK taxes diesel and petrol the same, other countries don't.

75p of that litre is tax, pretty obvious who is taking the mick.
Staff involved in the chain still need paying and you can't expect the filling stations to operate without making a margin.

Higher oil prices mean higher fuel prices, you must be the only person wanting it to be more.

Actually it's only bad for oil companies and pension funds, but it's excellent for the UK economy and consumers as oil prices are a major part of the cost of everything as almost everything produced requires oil in it's production and transportation.

I thought diesel was taxed more heavily in the UK than petrol. Pretty sure that diesel used to be cheaper until the government added an additional duty to it in the 90s, due to it being a dirtier fuel.

crude prices being so low
sellers take far to long lowering prices
unlike when there putting prices up
ASDA pumps don't accept my debit card but other petrol stations with pay at pump systems will accept it. Any ideas why this is?

WRONG! The tax is a set charge at £0.58/litre Plus Vat! It actually helps the taxman as more is sold due to the reduced cost. As for Oil companies? Your having a laugh aren't you? BP profits have dropped to around $3bn a QUARTER, my heart bleeds for them!

There you go again due to your poor comprehension of a simple statement, resorting to insults.
Twice I've stated that BP are making less money due to the oil prices, however they are still making a handsome $3bn a quarter. I'm not sure how much more simplistic I can make this in order for your brain to actually absorb this information.
It was also you who referred to me as "Tony Blair's Spin Dr." I merely highlighted that perhaps a current PM would have been more appropriate.
Anyways, I give up! Enjoy your monkey antics.
