Consider the tech incorporated into this device and the cost. How can people think the iPhone isn't over priced? If it was £399 it would get some heat.

How is this value? The price is reduced by£200 until the 21st Jan yet for the same price, excluding the reduction you could buy an iPad Pro. Newer tech, more tech per pound yet £20 cheaper. I know the iPad Pro is not a phone but still. The screen on an iPhone is a fraction of the size, the metals used a fraction of the amount... Just makes me wonder where the value lies.

Oh my goodness. How long must people who are interested in a product or deal suffer others making totally unrelated comparisons? This is like saying, "Don't buy a discounted car for £20K because they're normally £30K, which is the same price of some boats."
Can YOU put an iPad Pro in your shirt or trousers pockets? Can you make calls on it? Is it called a smartphone? No! It's a tablet.
Can you find a brand new iPhone 6 128GB from a high street store at a better price? If so, please post the deal. If not, then that answers your own "How is this value" question. Value is relative. Plus, this site is not called HotUKValue.

Apple haters are at it again. A deal is a deal when it's being sold for less than retail at other retailers. Regardless of personal bias.

If you want to go down the route of buying an iPhone, I highly recommend forking out an extra £100 for the 64gb 6s. With double the ram and a much faster processor, it's far more future proof. When you add in the better camera and 3D touch it's well worth the extra £100.

2 Jan 16#64
Okay, I can understand what you're saying about how you perceive value relative to the age of the device but actually, I think that is the point with iPhones and one of the reasons many people buy them: the fact that a year later they still command a fairly high price. This means that if you typically change your phone annually, the hit percentage wise won't be as massive as if you'd bought another flagship or "premium" device. To me, that is where the value lies. It depends on one's perspective.

I don't really get the appeal or the hate. Nobody would deny that Apple is as much a fashion brand as a tech brand, but that's how the world is these days.
I'm largely indifferent to where other people spend their money...at least until they start complaining to me that they have none, or grumble that the rich are getting richer whilst they contribute to the pot by buying all designer items XD
At the end of the day, a lot of people spend half their lives on their phone these days, so it has to be something they're comfortable holding, confident using, and (if applicable) happy being seen with.

OK il start with this is a great price for this phone and for that heat added in the spirit of the site.
I do however agree with many of the posts about the Xiaomi products being much cheaper and I have personally bought one which I am using.
buying from China is no longer a hit or miss deal, there are many reputable resellers so much so HUKD have an affiliate program with GearBest and BangGood.
I love apple products and to some extent love the eco system they have. I do however hate their pricing. yes there are android fan guys and girls but they decide with their feet. apple fanboys stand by any product they release regardless of price.
Samsung was the biggest selling OEM of handsets from the galaxy s2 onwards then HTC had a chunk of sales with the HTC one. but ultimately android users saw that HTC and Samsung were upping the price of devices year on year with improved components that in real world use was OTT or contributed little to the everyday useability.
If apply fans could get together and stand against their ridiculous pricing as a whole, apple would revise the price because an iPhone does not cost £500 to make let alone £700. so the ££ is going to marketing and bigger profit margins than any other company.
I also think information sharing is important as some people would perhaps take a Redmi note 2 however were unaware of it etc. it's a good device, as good as the iPhone 6, well no but it does everything you want of it and the iPhone is not £300 better as a device.
Your also right that you may pay import duty and your figures are about right, personally I didnt but you can also opt to buy from an EU warehouse to circumvent any unexpected charges.
like I said this is a great deal for an iphone but there is no denying apple should look at their pricing in today's market to be more appealing to new buyers of apple products and fairer to their loyal fans

120 odd posts and most of them are my phone is better than yours, every single Apple deal goes this way, the droids must be having a fit with all of the hot apple deals at the moment. Odd that research shows that apple users are better educated, earn more than android users and wait for it, 3 in 10 new iPhones are sold to android users ouch.
might find that in a couple of years, there are no android moans on apple threads but one bad thing is we will miss the laughs on the hot android threads where they are arguing because its a hot deal but you can by a new one for the price on a refurb deal.
Daily Mail? Are you serious. That's not a newspaper, it is click bait.
Any research can be made to favour a particular OS. I have an iPod touch, a Macbook and and Android phone. I did have an iPhone 6 but flogged it when I realised it was no better than my LG G2 it was to replace.
I think it's one thing to have a differing opinion and differing opinions are a good thing to generate discussion but insinuating Android users are less well educated is a very poor attempt to score points and goes below the belt. It's actually very silly.
I find it interesting that whever somebody that uses Android popps into a discussion about iPhone they almost always get insulted. You have to ask yourself why that is. Many here are not against iPhone but merely pointing out it is blatantly over priced.
The phone is 16 month old technology. Actually parts are older, as the processor went into the 5s so that is 28 months old... Add to that the finger print recognition...
Is not the fastest iPhone
Does not have the latest features.
Yet still costs £500. It should be around the £350 mark.

It does but for a lot of people that might not be a problem. For example if you just need a large iPod with built in phone, decent all rounder with the knowledge that it will be supported with new iOS versions for a few more years it will likely be just as good for you as a 6s. I have the 6s but the most taxing thing I do on it is my email. The only thing is miss about the 6s over the 6 is the Live Photos .

Yep because every mediocre apple deal gets voted red hot in a few hours which makes this site and temperature ratings look even more stupid than usual.
It only really happens to apple deals because only apple buyers need the religious fervour and zealotry to convince themselves and each other than their iThings really are worth the large price premium they pay for them.
So yep carry on claiming that people don't buy apple products because they are stupid, or can't afford them, or just haven't started yet. That will surely convince you and your fellow apple zealots that paying 500 quid for an obsolete phone which is outperformed by newer androids costing half as much is a good idea.

Could have put any article on there just daily mail was the first one that popped, up sadly Apple users don't post on android threads but android ones post every single time over and over again. It's also got nothing to do with price, that's the rrp, so be it, we don't see the same moans on tins of beans threads or TVs threads at the other end of the spectrum so surely we shouldn't see moan after moan on Apple ones.
As I said android deals get hot and only android users moan on them, have a look next time one gets posted, they argue amongst themselves. Bet if you checked all of the android threads over the last year and the apple ones there would be more android hot deals, only recently that Apple users have bothered to vote on an apple deal as t normally goes stone cold.
We are all hotdealers we shouldn't have this constant moaning about our phones, there are bigger things in the world to moan about. Anyway keep smiling

I have owned both apple and android phones, both good in different ways. The statement that iphone users are better educated is utter tripe.

I switch between this and Nexus or OnePlus. One of the main reason I liked android is that you get push e-mail on Google plus hotmail in the stock app... However Google have just removed that in latest gmail update so arguably ios now has better email client as gets push on hotmail but not gmail.

Reality is that hundreds of millions of people are happy with the value so you then must be wrong. have you ever thought why people buy this for the overall value, resale, how it works across devices wth ease etc, lots buy in on the last generation, it's their entry price point. There is plenty of older technology out there that people will pay a premium for its just the way of the world. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean it's bad value, you will no doubt like something more expensive than I do but most wouldn't argue against you. You may think Sony is a premium tv, I may like Samsung, you may like Heinz beans, I may like Branston. End of the day back to the deal, we wouldn't be having this conversation on those sorts of threads
Just for the record, I have an iPhone 4, it's probably the forth phone I had in my life one of the older generation didn't have a mobile until I was £30. it was bought second hand around when the 5 came out, maybe the 5s. One of the young girls in the office came over she had just ordered the new one, happy as she was I was just as happy with my old version. we now have multiple iPads and iPhones in the house because of the easy of interaction and not having to buy the same apps across different platforms. For me that's value for money, tried other devices tablets etc and didn't like them compared to an iPad.

Just been through the pain of an O2 refresh deal to secure the same handset refurbished for 419.
Would have happily paid an extra £80 for a brand new handset and not having to deal with O2 customer services to cancel my contract but hey ho guess I've saved a few bob.
Hot deal though!

I think the 6S (as a 6 64 GB owner) is an aspirational want but not a need. Processing speed and multitasking on the 6 is fast, probably even better on the 6S, but enough for me for the time being.
I used to be Android fanatical - in fact a ROM developer for the old nexus S on XDA - see here but in recent years (this year) I've gone back to iOS as my own driver whilst still independently building some eclipse stuff for some projects. I am neither side of the fence but hate peoples ignorance on sitting either side regardless of reason.
There is free choice and opinion and I love it all, but fanboy type posting is a bore for everyone!

Graham from oldham makes the bluntest point - I will admit that in some senses iOS is always playing catchup with some software features in Android, but oft introduces them as stable hardware features across the board in iOS. The stability of fingerprint recognition in Android being a point where one vendor beat the other, the other copied it and didn't get it right until next time around. There are so many facets to like or dislike whether it be the way to download files to folders, or use various VPN's, but for those suggesting using Chinese handsets over iDevices at fractions of the cost we are not comparing apples to apples (forgive it don't mock it). This is a good deal at this moment in time and likewise a lot of android handest offer good deals, but please lets measure each deal on its merits for the device that it is.

Had this still been in stock I would have probably bought one, as I had one before and despite having countless other Android phones such as HTC One M7, Note 3 & 4, LG G4, Sony Z2 & Z3 I still preferred the ios experience despite still having a android phone now, the only reason I didn't keep it was the initial outlay as I'm still on the One plan sim only deal, having said that they just keep their value which is why I would have bought one new.

But as the 64GB version of the iPhone 6 is £539 on Apple website, this is a deal any day of the week.
however at 200 extra, you'd have to value the jump from 8 to 12 MP
Redmi Note
Consider the tech incorporated into this device and the cost. How can people think the iPhone isn't over priced? If it was £399 it would get some heat.
it is not the same thing
if you wish to use facetime, and other features only available on iOS then an android phone will not facilitate that

Also, wouldn't it be better to pony up an extra £100 and get the 6S? http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/iphone-6s-64gb-sim-free-599-99-carphone-warehouse-2365362 - Not 128gb, but 64gb should more than suffice.
yea thats £138, but shipped from china expect VAT and customs duty added on top (about £60-70ish) and when (if) it goes wrong, the cost and hassle to send it back
good luck with that one!!
i think i will stick to a UK purchase unless its less than a tenner and can afford to loose it!
What an utterly useless comparison!
On another note, I can't decide between Microsoft 950xl or Moto X Style. The app gap is what stops me from getting the 950...
It's is completely irrelevant comparing this to some Android phone because well it's not the same.....so is irrelevant. People need to move past personal preferences and actually vote on if the deal found is HOT or not....
I am comparing value. Value. A 16 month old phone...
My Pentium P4 2Ghz 6GB DDR1 PC from 2008 is not as fast as my Core i5 1.3 Ghz 4GB DDR3 laptop from 2015.
Get a clue about technology and memory management within a phone OS and you'll soon realise you have no idea about anything.
And if you were so content with your amazing android phone why waste your time commenting on an apple phone deal
Heat added
Got an LG G2 which is ideal for me as I mostly just listen to podcasts.
Have half thought about getting an iPod touch so I can listen to my music etc in the gym and keep my LG G2 just to listen to podcasts and as a phone.
I am not very good with technology, so although LG is great for me I have never figured out how to get my iTunes music on it etc or my Amazon music on my iPad.

Bought an Apple Watch at John Lewis prices the other day from Apple in Eldon Square Newcastle.
And as for the Pot Noodle comments...
Pot Noodle = Food
iPhone = Phone. Hint: The clue is in the name:wink:
I recommend that all the Andboid fans on here just do the following:
1. Vote on this deal how u want (probably cold)
2. Find a galaxy s6 deal on here
3. Commence drooling/masturbation
Your also right that you may pay import duty and your figures are about right, personally I didnt but you can also opt to buy from an EU warehouse to circumvent any unexpected charges.
like I said this is a great deal for an iphone but there is no denying apple should look at their pricing in today's market to be more appealing to new buyers of apple products and fairer to their loyal fans
who is the winner???
You can argue till the cows come home as to whether this is the best smartphone you can buy for £500.
What is without doubt, is that this is the best 128Gb iPhone 6 you can buy right now.
might find that in a couple of years, there are no android moans on apple threads but one bad thing is we will miss the laughs on the hot android threads where they are arguing because its a hot deal but you can by a new one for the price on a refurb deal.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2922474/Do-iPhone-SMARTER-Android-user-Infographic-reveals-link-education-phone-choice.html
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/technology/apple/iphone/11959265/Android-users-are-ditching-their-phones-for-the-iPhone-at-a-record-rate.html
My issue is the price. I do not hate apple, I use apple products, it is the fact I feel people are being ripped off.
And why 500 for a phone, vodafone smart ultra 6 is just as good.
I got the 6 Plus for gf when the deal was on previously. But I find out the order was cancelled. If I didn't call to ask, I would've never known.
Is this just a marketing scam for them to collect peoples contact information to spam and sell of?
I do not see:
16 month old technology with parts being much older, as the processor went into the 5s meaning 28 months old...
28 month old finger print recognition...
Is not the fastest iPhone
Does not have the latest features.
That's not value. the t needs to sell for cheaper.
People can spend their money as they like of course but there is now no need to pay big bucks for a smartphone that provides a great experience.
I see a phone thats just as old, with no revolutionary features and is even more expensive than the iphone!
Just two issues-
1/ iOS 9 is not as good as iOS 8 it seems to have slowed down the phone, there is a way around this- http://osxdaily.com/2015/09/18/slow-ios-9-speed-up-tips/ but it kind of defeats the object of iOS 9. It worries me what performance set backs iOS 10 will bring.
2/ battery life is starting to show signs of age, not lasting a day, having to have chargers wherever I am.
cheers
