Let's do a bit of maths here.
Spend £20 on clothing. Fill your car with 50 litres of fuel and use till spit to get 8p a litre off. Saving £4. (Yes, I know some people buy more and some people less fuel at one time).
25% off TU clothing. (Must be due soon - it's been at least 20 minutes since the last offer) Spend £20, get reduction of £5.
It does all come down to what the deal is when you are shopping. Just saying that they're giving the same sort of thing in different ways.

Can't really go that much lower with at least 68.4p being made up of duty and V.A.T. :/
To clarify you are paying 74p of duty and V.A.T. on your fuel currently priced at 99.9p

Anything to stop one buying an item of clothing, filling up the car then taking the item back for a refund?

Snap...I used it yesterday. It was like the old days i.e. not a complete rip-off filling up your car.

There's a sale on clothing as well so £20 on kids clothing is easily achievable.

As naughty as the petrol retail scammers?

Used mine last week but the spend was £25. Previously they've been £40.
I think they're linked to your Nectar card.
I question whether this can be listed as a 'deal' when it's dependent on getting a till spit, which many won't.

Id lay blame at the government first. the petrol retailers make very little in comparison.

Yes your right Spacehduk the vouchers have the last 6 digits of your Nectar card on them.I got mine last weekend and its valid until 14/01.Not sure if thats the promotion ending date or just my voucher. Its nice to turn your head away from the pump for a moment and not have a nasty shock when you turn back round, in fact quite the opposite.

They do state that they should be used by the card on the voucher, but that's not checked at the till. We regularly pool our vouchers and the first one to qualify for an offer uses that voucher with their own Nectar card

Is that true of all Sainsbury till spit vouchers or just this offer?
knack
11 Jan 161#26
Can't say whether it's true of all vouchers but it's not just this offer.
When they introduced the Nectar number to the vouchers I found I could not use other people's vouchers at a self checkout but they still work at a manned checkout.
alecb
12 Jan 161#27
I can confirm that you can use other people's vouchers at the till.
I have 3 Nectar cards of which I use one regularly for a while.
Then I use one of the other two for a small, say £5 spend, and will then invariably get a coupon for
say £4 off a £20 spend. Use that and then get another coupon for £5 off a £40 spend.
A couple more and then money off vouchers dry up.
Then it's on to the 3rd Nectar card and the same process until that dries up.
Having 3 cards also helps when Sains offer the double up on Nectar points which is when I use the points to stock up on wine ie where you redeem 5000 points to get a £20 voucher which is doubled up to £40 in value across certain lines.
"Every little helps" - oh no that's the other lot lol.

12 Jan 16#28
That's odd, I regularly use them (all till-generated ones) at the self checkout as well as the manned.

Must try again then - it's been over a year since I did. Perhaps there was another problem which caused it not to work on the couple of occasions I tried.

Precisely what I thought when I got the voucher before this was posted hence didnt bother posting. Also - its not like you can just get the voucher. Its spat out for specific customers at the til. I've had lots of vouchers but dont bother posting each one... like £1 off £10 spend, £3 off £15.Triple nectar points. If you are a nectar customer you must know to look out for these vouchers at the till by now!
No one is so desperate for TU clothing that they cant wait for 25% off deals which seem to be as regular as Debenhams sales these days.
Rant over lol.

So you got to spend about £75 to save £4,hardly a good deal.
There will be many deals posted today that will save 10 times more than this but won't get nowhere near the same amount of heat, strange how it works on this site some times and what running around people will go to save a few pence on fuel.

Buy clothes in store then return them. The voucher comes out the till at purchase.
jnm21
12 Jan 161#35
Came here to post exactly that - pity (but NOT a coincidence) that they never overlap! If you get a till spit than ends on the 20th, you can be fairly sure the 25% off will start on the 21st.

The system that 99% of supermarkets (and the majority of convenience stores) use doesn't check.
If your store's self checkouts have the snazzy new interface, you're out of luck. If they have the same thing they've had for years, you're good to go.

Fuel voucher not much good as nearest Sainsbury with a petrol station is 17 miles away.
Perhaps someone can help with this? Not sure if this is correct, but I seem to get fewer vouchers, if any sometimes, at Sainsbury self check than at the proper tills?
Just been through their self check today and this time did get one (useless) voucher after a 28 quid clothing spend mostly for the kids. However, I did use a coupon about to run out for 800 bonus Nectar points, plus a £4 off voucher on £20 spend on clothing!!
So I'm happy! :innocent:

Spent at TU didnot get anything at the till. Is there a trick for getting money off vouchers at the till? Many times I donot get anything at the till . Is it based on spending and your own nectar ?
bigredbucket to cooldooh
16 Jan 16#44
First you get the aforementioned till spit coupon when you do your usual shopping, (or maybe you don't)...
Second, you use it when you buy £20+ Tu clothing - they issue you with 2nd coupon for 8p off each litre of fuel.
Third - buy petrol and redeem 2nd coupon.
I often get coupons after payment, but I also shop at several other supermarkets and make a point of not being too loyal to any of them - result - lots of offers.:smirk:
