Razer stuff is generally cheap plasticy, poor quality stuff. But they slap a load of LEDs and their tacky logo all over it, give it a terrible name (BlackWidow Chroma Ultimate Stealth Tournament Doritos Mountain Dew Edition) then idiots pay a small fortune for it, or more likely their parents do since Razer stuff seems to be aimed squarely at 13 year old Call of Duty players.

£230 for a non-mechanical keyboard with only 10-key rollover. It's almost criminal.

If you are going to spend lots of cash on a keyboard get the K70 / K90. It's lights aren't as nice as but it's a much higher quality product.

Was that the one everyone used to buy that new razer laptop (£2500 - 90%)?

I wish I saw it would've been amazing.

I did get the razer naga elite chroma for around £56 last year during their 50% discount for being best gaming company or something.

Might see if there's something else I may want.

I got a Razer Nostromo gaming keypad a couple of years back for FPS games like Arma/Dayz as I was getting wrist pain from spanning WSAD constantly for hours at a time.
Well worth getting one if the price is right. Totally removed the problem.

In all honesty save your money for the Rift or the Vive. I've owned the rift DK1 & DK2 and I can tell you first hand that you'll get nauseous using OSVR because the display is only capable of 60fps. That just isn't comfortable enough for VR.

If I want "hardcore" gaming gear, then Razer is the last place to go.

All overpriced as stated, but even at 50% off I wouldn't go near it. Too much unreliable software, hardware failures are common, and aftersales support is non existant.

Oh and if anything goes wrong, they'll ask you to pay for shipping to Germany to RMA.

Corsair are miles ahead now when it comes to gaming peripherals. Even the newcomers like Gamdias make far better keyboards, and at cheaper prices, for better quality and customisation too. No over reliance on crappy software either.
nomnomnomnom to striker33
13 Jan 16 2 #82
Totally disagree. We have Corsair and Razer (his and hers), in this house.

Their software is *much* better than the Corsair stuff, which couldn't keep the RGB on the keyboard consistent. It's profile system is also much, much better than anything Corsair have.
I returned a mouse to a UK address not too long ago, which was mostly due to abuse, but they changed without issue.
The quality easily matches my Corsair mech. Razer green switches easily give my MX Blue a run for their money.

It's really cool to hate Razor on HUKD because they're a bit more expensive and Corsair have a lot of fans, but there is no way they win as many awards as they do and have such a large user base if their products are as bad as some people make out. Have a preference, sure, but a lot of it is just fanboy nonsense. I like both, and so does my wife.

We wish the Chroma keyboard had a wrist rest, but other than that, it's a solid bit of kit. Along with the mouse we have from them (one of about 5 in this house).

As for Corsair....it's not like that had mass failures on their LED range of keyboards and were asking people to ship to the Netherlands. Let's stop pretending like they're the superior, bullet proof option here.

Honestly, this deal is only good if you're in the market for a mechanical keyboard or overhead earphones. £70 is a decent price for the keyboard plus free shipping and £40-£60 for the headphones may also be worth looking at.

Everything else is just so overpriced that even with the 50% off code, it's still not worth it.

Not a big selection, I was more excited for something last year. Looking at the audio selection, and it feels a tad small. I do like the Leviathan audio set up. But just don't really have the desktop space, nor game as much on the Pc as much as I'd like. The ps4/xbox one has made gaming a little more pick up and go, but I do suffer from quality in performance in the exchange. >.<

I have a DEATHSTALKER CHROMA keyboard... in a box, where it has remained since a few days after purchase. Cheap horrible thing, not worth half what I paid for it, so at 50%, I still wouldn't bother personally. Paid £20 for an MS keyboard and although it has none of the fancy lighting effects, as a pure typing experience it blows the Deathstalker out of the water. Never used a Razer mouse or any of their other accessories, but if the keyboard is anything to go by, 50% off is really nothing special.

I expected something that felt better than this... it just feels 'cheap'... well, maybe that's harsh, but it certainly doesn't feel like the quality is worthy of the price tag! Yes, never used chiclet keys before this, and never again. Can't say I noticed any faster response on it vs my old Logitech, but I'm not a pro gamer so maybe that's where it comes in its own. The price is just too high for the overall quality of product, and clearly this is a feeling echoed by many on here regarding much in their range. Shame, as they do produce some very nice looking products.

I'm a serious gamer and for me the perifs are all down to personal preference.

Razer, whilst decent quality are definitely overpriced, as is most major branded "pro gaming" gear.

With customs fees, potentially high postage fees (and presumably VAT on top?), that's taking the wind right out of the sails for UK customers isn't it? Or do they ship from within the EU? It's not really made abundantly clear.
It's also not made clear if the original price triggers the postage payment requirement or the new discounted price. Some retailers I've dealt with still maintain free postage based on original price.

Even at half price the keyboards are a little steep at 60 odd quid considering they feel like those plastic 5 quid keyboards with some LED slapped on. No wonder they honored the 90% glitch years ago... it's probably manufacture price!

So many Corsair fanboys on this thread. I am a fanboy of neither but I have personally owned both brands products and from my experience with them I much prefer Razer products. I bought the k70 rgb at launch and it was a joke. The software was unusable to the point where I had to return the keyboard as it just kept locking up. Corsair support was a joke too, they didn't want to help me revolve the problem they just told me to return it. The software also had a very steep learning curve to it for even the simplest of effects. Razer on the other hand have been great for me, I have never had a problem with using their software and it is soooo much easier to use and make effects. Think I will probably pick up the Razer mamba while if I can, really like the wireless ability.

I own a razer naga and a corsair rgb strafe before I had the black widow, it doesn't compare to the build quality of the corsair plus most people go with corsair as they use cherry switches not "gaming switches", I can't fault the strafe rgb it looks and feels fantastic.

I would never deny the build quality of corsair products. I own plenty, from my case to my CPU cooler. My point is though although the build quality may be slightly better with some corsair products, Razer definitely has the edge when it comes to user friendly software. Also the difference between the cherry and kailh switches is debatable. I have used both too and both do the job fine for me. Kailh greens feel exactly the same as cherry blues and the kailh orange the same as cherry Brown's imho. Also I don't think it is a matter of quality between these two brands, more a matter of personal preference.

I've only had 2 products the death adder mouse which I've had for about 4 or 5 years and it's a very good piece of kit and I'd recommend it to anyone. The other was the razer onza xbox 360 pad and although it had a couple of good features it felt cheap and broke after a while. I'd buy a mouse or keyboard from them. Not sure about anything else. Anyone see Momochi's razer joystick failing at evo finals? That was probably a one off though. Maybe their pc stuff is better quality than their console stuff.

Then so be it, I certainly wouldn't be upset if they did. I think it's mentioned on the T&C's to deter people from buying up all their stock. If you tried adding three items to cart it removes the discount, if they were to enforce the one item per customer rule I'm pretty sure they would have adapted the code to only work with one item

Anyone who missed out and who hasn't owned a Razer product before you're not missing out. Keyboard poor build quality and as for their range of Mouse... Whatever it is they are coated in is awful, try and clean it and you will have a horrible Ricky mess.

I would never touch their products again, only thing I like is my Razer mouse mat.

Now they're taunting me with this e-mail.

You still have time!

Good news! The items you selected are still available and are waiting for you to bring them home.

Just click the button below, complete your order, and soon, you'll be the proud owner of these great Razer products. But hurry... You have great taste and these items often go fast.

Bunch of muppets!
sam_taylor_
15 Jan 16 #297
So yesterday a friend and I made a list of things that would be sold out and which items would be available, we pretty much nailed it!

Razer do this once a year, sell all of the **** nobody wants for 50% off, while taking off the more "premium" products like the BlackWidow keyboard and the rest of the Chroma series.

But hey! T-Shirts and Nabu's are 50% off, maybe a few odd keyboards they're planning on discontinuing and need to get rid of the stock fast!
darkstryder360 to sam_taylor_
15 Jan 16 #299
Pretty common sense though, expensive new items discounted would sell out quick, leaving the trash.

Crustybeaver
15 Jan 16 2 #301
When you consider that you could only order one or two items at discount, there would only be a select market interested in buying gaming peripherals and that all top of the line mice, keyboards, speakers and headphones were sold out within a couple of minutes of going live, we can deduce that there was very low stock in the first place. All in all a clever marketing stunt Razor.
Jams80 to Crustybeaver
15 Jan 16 2 #304
Exactly. They no doubt allocated a VERY small number of products for the offer. You can all but guarantee that once the offer ends tmrw, suddenly all these products will magically appear back in stock again!! What a joke. Appreciation event my ass!! :man:

I ordered two Diamondback collectors edition mouses because I won't pay for a mouse that has £16 delivery fee. So I've "attempted" to buy two at £90 instead =/

Not fussed in the slightest if they accept the order or not.

15 Jan 16 2 #306
Companies don't ever learn, by annoying often first time buyers with a poorly run sale they probably won't come back. I recon even more manufacturers will start to make similar keyboards as desktop gaming takes off again then Razer will feel it!

15 Jan 16 #314
After the last one of these sales I didn't even bother.

I've been a long term user of Razer mice and love them but they have been prone to wear out before their time in my experience.

I've had a Viper, Deathadder, Lachesis and Naga and all of them have been brilliant when working but all had faults that couldn't be fixed after a year or two.

Currently using a Logitech mouse and Razer mat, don't know the model number but don't really care now that I've not been playing PC games much lately.

And the "worst sale of the year" award goes to Razer. What an utterly insulting and pointless event lol.

I was tempted by a £120 keyboard for £60 but between no stock or the wrong keyboard layout and no stock on the wireless mouse what's the point lol.

Like other I'm dubious about Razer anyway. I remember the Boomslang from years ago and what a load of ****. They went bust around that time. They got money from somewhere and we're reinvented and then I tried them again and got a £50 mouse that was almost identical to another Microsoft one I owned at the time and was twice as expensive. Then a few years later I decided to chance the imperator and it was broke from the start and sent it back. Really terrible company. After writing this this I'm thankful I missed out here.

15 Jan 16 #321
So they don't allow multiple items in the rules but their checkout doesn't account for this.

So people bought multiple things, and their orders will be cancelled, and they get nothing.
That left less for the rest of us, so we got nothing.

They've sold nothing at sale prices!

I've bought two items in one order and they've completed my order... So they indeed sold things at sale price to me at least?

Not too bitter, at least I got a mouse out of it.
titchyyyyy to SmoothEmJay
15 Jan 16 1 #331
They've honored some, others have been declined from what I've seen. I suppose it depends on what you're buying. My friend ordered a mouse, keyboard and mousemat and got declined where as I got accepted ordering two mice (collectors edition versions, which don't sell well usually, since it's £10 more for a better "box").

15 Jan 16 #330
Check your order status on the website, it goes from Submitted > In Review > In process > Complete. If you're lucky to get past the "In review" stage, the order will be sent to the warehouse and then it'll be shipped, it'll update to "complete" when they've shipped it.

My friends order was declined after "In review" stage, probably because he tried to purchase several items, silly.

Got the Deathstalker Chroma UK version Keyboard. The shipping made it 33% off more like. Hope i made a good choice. My current keyboard is 9 years old.

Wanted a new keyboard but not too loud for typing as I am a casual user and prefer to be more discreet. The stealth mechanical keyboards seemed interesting but they lacked UK layout choices so they went pretty quick lol.

My basket reset at the opening time btw. So being ready didnt help me. I used paypal and it went ok straight after.

Re-read my comment. I replied to your comments about Sanwa Denshi parts like it's some sort of big deal. Plenty of Sanwa sticks out there for less. Even the older SF IV Tournament sticks are cheap now. I've got two in my garage.
Crustybeaver
16 Jan 16 #354
But you see Sanwa parts are a pretty big deal when choosing a stick. I've had a good look around and I can't find any sticks with tournament grade Sanwa buttons and ball stick for £90. Lots of sticks with inferior parts but for £90 there's nothing better. I've also got the Mad Catz Street Fighter IV Tournament Edition stick which was a £180 when it came out and the Atrox is of similar quality.
